A database for personal encounters with the unknown. We archive non-fiction stories dealing with spirits, paranormal, strange happenings, and unexplained sightings.

Some of us believe in other-worldly beings; some of us don't. Bounce your experience here and open a discussion about what happened to you or find solace in someone's similar story.

Cross-posting, discussions, and open minded skeptical analysis are always welcomed.

This is a database for non-fiction encounters with the unknown from a personal source.

We welcome all encounters, from the mundane to nightmare-inducing. We aim to be a open, comfortable place for you to share your experiences with no judgement.

We're here for storytelling but maybe we can help uncover the truth behind your encounter. We welcome everyone here regardless of your background or skepticism. Good discussions require all perspectives and it helps with cognitive dissonance.

All we ask is for you to keep an open mind and respect our various backgrounds. Turn off the lights, grab a blanket, and enjoy.

X-posts from /r/paranormal and others are invited. We are not a rival; we're an archive. Think /r/nosleep without the fiction.

RULES of TTIH

  1. All posts MUST be tagged with link flair AND brackets. If you are unsure of how to use flair, please send us a message in modmail

  2. Your post must be of a personal experience or by someone you trust that you believe to be true. Send redditors this way if you see anything relevant.

  3. NO FICTION, (including creepypasta), CREATIVE WRITING, or SCARY PICTURES. This is a story based sub-reddit, so your post should not be just a picture. Uploading and posting a picture with your post is fine, but posts should not consist solely of image(s).

  4. NO DREAM POSTS - We get it, some dreams and nightmares are deeply disturbing and you want to talk about it, but this isn’t the appropriate sub unless you dreamed something that later came true. You can try posting in r/dreams or r/dreaminterpretation. This also includes sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is well known enough that it does not constitute a paranormal encounter; however, if you see or hear an entity during sleep paralysis that you have encountered outside of it, that would be allowed. Try r/sleepparalysis for information and resources.

  5. Please only downvote anything you believe breaks our main rule: NO FICTION!

  6. If you can draw a rough sketch of the entity, diagram of location, or provide any visual references or proof, DO IT or request an artist to help.

  7. We encourage all perspectives, but we do not tolerate assholes. Report comments that ruin the "safe space" vibe. We aim to provide a space where our users can post without being worried about being ridiculed or derided.

  8. No conspiracy theories unless they relate to the supernatural. There are plenty of other subs to discuss general conspiracy theories, this is not one of them. Posting political conspiracy theories or trying to engage in arguments about them will result in an automatic ban.

  9. No series posts - there is no reason to break up a single encounter or multiple encounters with the same entity into multiple parts. If your post is longer than reddit's character limit for posts, you can post the overflow into a comment.

  10. NO PROMOTION - Do not submit posts asking for stories for your youtube channel or podcast. Likewise do not ask to narrate someone's experience in the comments. You must PM OP instead. This is discussion based sub and these type of posts historically do not foster discussion.

  11. Content of submissions: do not submit a story as a wall of text; to put in paragraph breaks, press enter twice between paragraphs. Likewise, do not include excessive or unnecessary detail, as this tends to make people abandon your story. Violations of this rule will be removed until they are fixed.

Stationary blinking light....

I was camping with friends last Friday night on a farm in Flint Hill VA. It was extremely windy all Thursday and Friday but by sunset the wind had nearly stopped completely and the skies were clear. We were talking about where the big dipper was and everyone happened to be looking up when one guy said "what's that blinking in the middle?". That's when all 4 of us noticed that there was a blinking light in the exact center of the big dipper. About as big and bright as another star. Specifically it was between the 4 stars that make up the "cup". It was blinking about as fast, maybe slightly slower than a cars turn signal and did not move at all for almost 20 min while we all talked about it wondering what it could be if it wasnt moving. While we discussed this the blinking light got more and more dim until it faded away and we couldn't see it anymore. It never moved.... Seconds after we all noticed it was gone and as we were all straining our eyes to see if it was still there we all saw a shooting star.

I have thought of potential explanations for a moving blinking light, but not for one that is stationary and fades away. Thoughts?

Premonition? Glitch in the matrix?

Okay so you tell me: Glitch or just really strong premonition

This happened in the summer of 2000. The night before I was supposed to have my senior portraits made, so it’s very vivid still because it was the most crazy thing I have ever experienced.

I will say I have always had really strong premonitions about things. I just chalked it up to being an observant person.

Anyway, my mother was away, caring for an aunt with cancer. My dad and brother had both worked outside that day and have horrible allergies so they took Benadryl and were out. Nobody to talk to about how I was feeling, I called my mother.

It was around 10 pm but I called anyway and she answered. I told her “Mom, I cannot go to sleep. Because if I go to sleep right now I am not going to wake up.” She asked for clarification but all I could tell her for sure was “if I fall asleep in my bed right now, I am going to die tonight. I can just feel it.”

She chalked it up to being nervous. Sick aunt, mom gone a lot, really bad breakup the Christmas before that kept me a mess since he never really would just go away.

She told me to stretch out on the sofa and just sleep there. So I made my spot on the sofa. About an hour and a half later I started feeling silly.. so I grabbed my pillow and went to my bed.

I barely dozed off when I was woken by what sounded like rushing water… and then my windows bursting in. That’s when I saw the smoke and flames.

The house next door had caught fire and was fully engulfed and because the houses were so close… ours caught. I got us out, got fire and police there, I even had to have an officer get my car out of my parking spot because as I pushed the breaks to put it in gear the break pads melted to the tires. (He did get it free).

The only part of our house that caught fire, was my bedroom.

My dad called my mother to tell her what happened and she screamed for him to hand me the phone. She asked “how the hell did you know that was going to happen?!!” I didn’t!

I just had the strongest feeling I cannot explain that going into a deep sleep in my bed at that time meant I would never wake up. My bed was against the windows and the charred ceiling was on what was left of my bed.

To this day she says it’s the strangest phone calls she’s ever gotten from me and I still cannot explain how I knew that my room wasn’t safe that night. I just know if I had gone to bed, I would have been killed in a house fire. Instead we all got out safely and insurance fixed the damage to my room.

(In the end it was a bad try at insurance fraud by the neighbor who lit candles all over his house, let all the cats in the room with the candles, and then left the house. So the neighbor was fine. A horrible human but fine.)

I posted this on the glitch in the matrix sub and it was removed for having no witnesses.. despite having my mother and the phone calls, the entire police and fire department, my dad and brother who were in the house when I woke them to get us out.. somewhere my parents have video of the damage for the insurance company. The fact it was removed so quickly when so many other stories actually have zero witnesses makes me feel even more odd about sharing the story. But it’s bothered me forever.

Glitch or just a gut feeling? Ask anything you’d like.

I had a possession nightmare.

Possession in a Dream:

In this dream, I was at the market near my girlfriend's house. We were walking through the parking lot when I heard something talking to me. This part wasn't clear in my mind after waking up, but I remember fragments. The voice told me that reality was more than this, and that we could perceive it through three means. The only one I remember was sound, and in the dream, it was as if I could see sound waves transferring from one space to another; unfortunately, I don't remember the others.

At one point, we went to the room where I was sleeping in real life. It's more common for my girlfriend to come to my house than vice versa, so dreaming that I'm in her room is significant. This part was simple; now the voice was my girlfriend's. She looked at me and said, "Want to know another way? There's a spirit here in the room." At that moment, the spirit entered me, and I laughed in a terrifying way. However, I woke up laughing in the same manner. I experience sleep paralysis very frequently, and whenever I wake up from it, I can't move. But this time, I lifted my head a bit and laughed, almost screaming at the same time. My girlfriend grabbed my head and asked if I was okay, and I continued laughing for about 5 seconds—it was a loud, suffocating, restrained laughter. I'm a very calm person and never have reactions out of the ordinary, especially in dreams. I immediately reassured my girlfriend when I returned to myself, but I was very afraid and sweaty after the nightmare. I've never made noise because of a dream before; this is also the first time.

I know it's nothing outerwordly but I just wanted some opinions.

One off loss of time

I posted this on another subreddit and it got some attention and brought up a lot of discussion. So I was sent here! I found this subreddit and figured I’d post it here as well in case anyone else had anything similar happen? This took place about a year ago. (At the time I wrote this)

I’ve had a weird one that stuck with me for a while I don’t really know how to make sense of it but I honestly have accepted I’m not going to be able to figure it out.

Normal day at home on my day off. I just bought my house like 3 months ago and was still getting used to it. I sat down on my sectional in the living room watching tv, (I just made some clam chowder literally my favorite) and set it in front of me while I put on South Park since it’s my comfort show and this was probably around Noon. It was bright out and the house was lit up through the blinds. This is where I get goosebumps. I can’t for the life of me remember what happened next. It was 7:42 pm. It was like a snap of someone’s fingers and the world moved on without me. South Park was still on, definitely not near the episode I started on which was the episode about yelpers, and my food was still untouched where I left it. I just wasn’t sitting up anymore I was laying on the couch in front of my fireplace. I NEVER lay there I usually use it to sit and tie my shoes before I head out. I can’t really explain the feeling but I’d say there was an immense raw sense of fear that came over me because I couldn’t figure out where the time went or what happened. There were no pieces to put together. Besides that I just felt kind of sick, and out of body which I kind of attributed to how worked up I got. Never happened to me before, has not happened since. No history of anything like that in the family. Truly at a loss for that one. To make myself feel better I reheated the clam chowder and ate it though.

Some answers to things that were asked:

I installed a carbon monoxide detector shortly after I bought the house, it wasn’t that.

When I woke up, besides the general feeling I had, there were marks on my foot, like it was tied up in a wire thread, but the marks didn’t last last the next day

There is no history of any epilepsy or black outs in the family

After this I experienced shivers in my spine. Not painful, but at random times is felt like the center of my spine would get cold and it would shoot up and down the length of my back and give my whole body goosebumps. This still happens to me now, but nowhere near as often as when this happened

I had missed calls and texts, but I didn’t text or call anyone while I was “missing?”

That couch is super uncomfortable. I hate it it’s just to put things on. I have an awesome sectional that I can’t get enough of. No idea why I’d randomly wake up on the couch. I would never do it to begin with, I wouldn’t even let a puppy sleep on it.

Feel free to ask anything else.

Beings

In 2020 I was living in a half way house and out of my 7th rehab, I had lost everything I loved the previous year and was continually being emotionally abused by my exhusband. I was running regularly bc of Covid it was my only activity, and I ran in a bike path that had woods on both sides, and there appeared to be dark figures following me in the trees and I would stop and look and they would disappear. I’d start running again and there they were still following me and they seemed like they were rustling the leaves as they went. This happened for a few weeks and it was terrifying. But really the least of my life problems at the time so I just dealt with it. In my room at this time I would see things like many almost colorless waving tentacles coming out of my closet from my peripheral as well for a few weeks. But these guys did not scare me as much. I tried to see them and that’s all I saw were waving arms or tentacle type things. This happened a few weeks before I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and I have not seen these guys since. Thank you Lord 🙏❤️

Reporting on UFO I saw years ago

When I lived in PA, I would drive home from work around 11pm and drive on a pretty quiet road since it was late.

One night I was driving with one person in front of me, and I look up to see a ship of some sort in the sky. I at first didn't think much of it, but as I studied it a bit more, the way it was flying was very peculiar.

If anyone has played Galaga, I swear the way it moved reminded me of that kind of. It was moving left, right, up, down. It felt very much like it had complete control of the sky.

As far as looks go, it wasn't like a perfect saucer kind of aircraft. What I could make out is the green oscillating (?) lights which swirled around it. The thing was obviously foreign from anything I had seen before.

Finally, out of nowhere, it stops, then races downward (not up into the sky) and dissappears. I thought a bomb had went off or something crazy so I slammed on brakes, so did the person in front of me.

It was definitely a crazy experience and idk what I saw. What I know for sure though is that the person in front of me saw it too, and this thing did not go upward, it went down before dissappearing.

Reporting incredible experience i had

I am reposting here, from other forums "Reporting incredible experience i had" bcs it kept being deleted i hope this time it doesnt.

This post is to report an experiece i just had a few hours ago. There are no lies or alterations, i will describe what happened exactly. Im sharing this because i feel like the human brain, and maybe other areas of science need to be more advanced and explored.

My story begins when me, my father and my mother are watching a normal series on netflix between 9:30 and 10:00pm 11 feb 2024 GMT-3 if thats relevant. We were watching it, my mom got up and went to the bathroom, she could hear us fine, then there is a scene with people buckling up seatbelts on a helicopter, as my mom returns to sit in the sofa.

My father comments somethings like "i dont get why they even bother to buckle up in this crap helicopter" its not exactly what he said but its somewhat close in portuguese. The scene cuts to the front window of helicopter and i start to beguin to think of what model of the helicopter it is, i guess in my mind its a robinson. My mother is standing in the dark staring at me.

Note i didnt say anything about any helicopter model at this point, only thought, she is not an aviation fan so she doesnt know anything about what a robinson is. So she says she had a "dejavu" (look it up, idk how to translate its sort of when you think you see the future in a present tense memory like moment) basically she says that she realized she entered a dejavu when my father talked about the buckling, and then expected me to say "oh this is the robinson helicopter isnt it" but i didnt say because my thought process was disrupted by her staring at me in the dark which is weird.

Either way she basically read my mind, there is no possible way she could possibly ever guess i was about to confirm with my father about a specific model of helicopter. This PROVES we humans somehow can view the short term future.

Basically she realizing what was about to happen altered the reality into she staring into me waiting for me to actually say what i was about to say, then disrupting my thought process because she was staring at me in the dark, i thought "wtf why is she just stopped there staring at me" instead of whatever thought i would have concluded THIS IS ABSRURDLY CRAZY.

What i can possible associate this is with the double slit experiment with quantum physics. Where one observer observes, collapsing realty into one state vs another.

Maybe thats the foundation into finding out what counciousness is, or simply understanding more quantum physics relation with the brain, or the network of brains... please dont hesitate to contact me for any clarification.

Maybe we can somehow develop a natural (without neuralink) telepathy or time travel related stuff... i know it sounds cringe but only me and her truly know what happened. That is legit crazy. I hope someone important sees this. (Please share with someone researching brain and quantum physics or the quantum effects in biology idfk)

The pale lady in the woods

I live a little ways out in the woods, on a small dirt road with a few neighbors who also live on our small street. It's a quiet place, we all know each other and get along decently. Given that we host little bonfires sometimes and invite the neighbors around to grill and have a few drinks, we often discuss things we've seen lately in our little patch of forest. A group of lovely deer, a mischevious raccoon, or the odd wandering bear often are topics of conversation. However, inevitably we often end up on the subject of a mutual experiemce most of us have had with unexplainable phenomena happening around our homes.

It's no secret that my woods tend to make people a bit uneasy. It's dark, it's quiet, and that tends to make people tense. I'm definitely no different. I don't go outside at dark if I don't have to, and I get spooked at times when an animal makes a ruckus. There are some things, though, that I just can't attribute to animals.

To start, I have to go all the way back to when I was 13, when I first moved onto this property. I often felt "watched" at night, I was terrified to sleep without the lights on. I tried my best to ignore it, but I was honestly terrified to be outside at night or be here alone. For my 14th birthday, I decided to face my fears so I could pitch a tent outside and "camp" in the yard with a few good friends. One of them left in the middle of the night because they were so anxious. Another left early in the morning after barely sleeping all night. The last friend stayed a couple extra days, but was creeped out the entire time. She claimed to have briefly seen the apparition of a pale woman with dark hair standing in our yard, and felt something touch her at night. She was truly terrified, and I could tell. When I tapped her shoulder, she startled very easily and almost hit me out of fright. This was very abnormal for her. I spoke to my uncle, who lives next door, about the woman she saw, and to my surprise he claimed to have also seen the same apparition multiple times. He wasn't even surprised when I brought it up.

I moved out not long after this, but recently moved back. Since returning as an adult, I've heard several stories from my family and neighbors about weird phenomena like this. My uncle has seen the lady, but also shadow figures, and heard some unnatural noises coming from the woods at night. As a man who has lived out here for over 40 years, he's very familiar with the usual sounds of animals and nature, and he didn't think these sounds were natural. His wife has also seen shadow figures and weird masses of black energy. She claimed to have been pushed over by an unseen force after witnessing one of these black masses of energy. She has never gone outside at night since.

My grandmother claimed to have been chased by a shadow entity several years ago on this property while walking back from my uncle's. It stopped at her front door and watched her while she cried and called my aunt and uncle for help (understandabley, they said NOPE! And told her to light some sage).

A couple neighbors have claimed to have seen similar shadow figures, as well as the apparition of the lady on occasion. I still feel watched and I regularly cleanse my house to keep whatever is out there as far from my home as possible.

A good friend of mine, when I first moved back in, called me with concerns over a dream she had. This was before she had ever seen or set foot on my property. She described my house and property perfectly, and described seeing the same pale woman that multiple people now have seen. I was understandabley shaken, considering she'd not once been to my home at the time and I hadn't really discussed the weird happenings with her. She spent the night 1 time and refuses to do it again.

My street is super creepy, and I have come to accept that something more is here. With all the shared experiences, I can't deny that something is out there. It's been here a long time, and seems to make itself known to anyone who spends enough time here.

UFO I saw in northern Ontario

When I was a teenager I would take these month long canoe trips every summer. They lasted about a month and would usually consist of white water canoeing, although some of the trips were on flat water. All these trips took place in northern Ontario and Quebec, around the town of Temagami for context. The trips were part of a summer camp that focused on self reflection and testing yourself, it was the same group of guys year after year for 9 years. The final trip I did when I was 19 took us over 300 miles down the Harricana river which splits between Quebec and Ontario. It is very remote. We would pass an off grid hunting cabin every few days where we would use the water tank to replenish our water bags. There were no roads and only the occasional snow mobile trail for hundreds of miles. The goal of the trip was to take this great river to the mouth of the James bay, which is connected to the Hudson Bay, we would then paddle across the open bay, about 60 miles of open water, to a sand bar where we would spend the night. Before continuing to the remote indigenous town of Moosonee ON. Before we got to the open bay we were camping on marshland. Due to the tides we had a unique sleep schedule, we would fall asleep in our tents by 10 PM to wake up at 3 AM to catch the tide. It was about 11 PM and I was sitting crouched on my heels on the river bank watching the moon and listening to the waterfowl. As I was sitting there a shiny cylindric object about the size of a paper towel roll with rounded ends shot past me about 20 feet to my left, the opposite direction of where the tents were. It plunged down into the river before shooting back out a few hundred feet down stream. It instantly accelerated to the speed of sound and vanished creating a sonic boom. People started coming out of their tents curious about the noise. I told them it was probably a hunter in the area. For reference this happened in 2012, and a few years ago I told my friends this over some drinks and they understandably thought I was joking. I know what I saw, and it was the only time I have ever heard the sound barrier broken.

mimic encounter? Or parallel universe and some paranoia? SOS

My boyfriend believes now, the consequences however will haunt me forever.

My boyfriend and I heard my voice, but it wasn’t me?

Paranormal or parallel? Believer and previous non believer seeking opinions! … I’ve experienced a few small nods towards the paranormal in my life (20F) although my Bf (21M) has never. Today we’re both very much believers in anything and everything you’ve got to say, so please. Let me know if you’ve had similar experiences or any advice on what our next step should be. Otherwise - enjoy our lives changing in 10 seconds

Me and my boyfriend were playing video games in our bedroom on my birthday 5 nights ago for probably an hour or so. He was on our bed playing xbox, I was on my pc not even a foot away.

When we finally got off the game we both took our headphones off and he looked at me saying "Do you want to smoke a bowl?" I responded with "yes" and joined him on our bed. Around 10 seconds after he initially asked to smoke - he went to grab his phone and I was just looking at him. The whole house was silent as it was 11:30pm. Then a female sounding voice (almost identical to mine, but not quite) clear as day said "can we take a bowl?". I wasn’t expecting to hear my own voice so I still don’t know if I’m trying to think it wasn’t but we both heard it.

It was only a few words off from what my bf said so we first thought maybe a recording, hacker, device relay, Alexa, cops?? We truly have been over everything and it's a dead end every time. It was a completely different sentence all together so we got over that option very quickly.

My bf had never believed in any type of alternative universe before this but it's the only "logical" conclusion. We're both convinced this was a glitch and in some other timeline I said that to him instead. It's happened way to many times, me saying that exact phrase & exact scenario even in the same tone. It’s the perfect setup to make us question what the actual fuck happened.

Was this maybe my passed best friend visiting me on my birthday legit wanting to smoke with us? I’ve been in a hard place ever since she passed nov of 22’. Begging for communication or really anything from her. Could this possibly have been good reason for spirits to come right in instead? A mimic? A ghost? A demon?

We both got immediate chills and left the house to my parents. I was hotter than I’ve ever been in my life that whole night, sweat beading down my face while I had been calm as day hours later. I woke up to a horrible dream of me and my bf in our own bed at home. In the dream I woke up, rushed to the end of the bed to see a demon figure and before I could even react I was awake at my parents house, drenched in sweat, shaking like a chihuahua. My bf was dead asleep at the time, I couldn’t even shake him up for quite awhile.

I’ve read about mimics and how they prey on those who are alone by sounding like a loved one or even yourself. But I have yet to find others like this specific scenario. How come we both heard, and then felt the exact same? The odds are almost non existent on the mental or physical health factor because even then my bf and I would’ve yes, had similar symptoms but not hallucinate the same.

Fast forward two days later.. my bf and I have to fly across the country to visit my family. We tried to put this out of our minds the best we could, unfortunately I don’t think I’ll ever live my life the same. I finally let my guard down and thought to myself “nothing can come with me”, “I’m safe”. That was until we saw them.. My boyfriend points out an older lady, very witch like, the kind you see and just know they have too much knowledge ya know? But right in front of her I pointed out a man, spitting image of a demon in human form. He had leather and chains and a cloak/cape. Dressed in black head to toe, sanpaku eyes, very violent looking. He is only staring at me, in my eyes, I can literally feel it after I looked away. Not just him though, witchy too, until they had to physically turn their heads to continue looking into me. Spooky enough right? We’ll just get this fucking mind fuck,

MY BOYFRIEND DIDN’T SEE THE GUY. now you tell me how in the world he sees this witchy older lady starring at me two feet away from the man in front of her and doesn’t see him???? Once we shared our concerns and agreed that was not normal. I realized I could just be losing my mind. Or, I’m being watched.

The next day we’re out to dinner with my family and I go to use the restroom. I was hesitant bc it was scary to me and dark and I just didn’t want to be alone, not even for a piss. I heard my boyfriend joking with my family about how I was scared. So of course I thought he was the one who came up to the bathroom door and said “pssst”. He wasn’t.

Another thing maybe related or not: we just moved into this house 4 months ago. Ever since I have been feeling so drained, no energy, my mood has been erratic at times. Maybe I’m vulnerable? I’m so lost right now but trying to stay positive.

I also want to say that no we were not just intoxicated or whatever we didn't even get our bowl on my birthday bc it spooked us too bad. :( We have carbon monoxide detectors in every single room in our house, they are on and working and have been throughly checked. No mold, no leaks, I appreciate the concerns but unfortunately that’s not our problem solved here.

Let me know what you think: Glitch? Ghost? Mimic? Loved one?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! We are still very jumbled over this and do not quite know what to make of the situation.

We’re heading home now, I’m about to get on a plane so wish us luck and I hope you enjoyed our experience. TBC…

Edit: The first time back to the house after our trip, the garage door opened for us. We ruled out roommates (they were all upstairs), electrical problem (everything is working fine and has been checked), and our garage clicker was in our glove compartment. Impossible for us to have bumped it or accidentally pressed it. As soon as we rolled in the driveway it started opening, if that isn’t the biggest “come on in” I don’t know what is.

Late night event that still freaks me out, anyone have a clue on what happened?

I’ve never really had many encounters with the paranormal besides seeing a shadow figure occasionally while growing up and still do, and constantly having lucid-ish dreams of my running through a forest, same thing every time but I don’t know if that is paranormal.

Anyway, this happened August 23rd, it was around 10pm and I was home alone, my dad driving back from dropping my older brother back off at collage which was about an hour away. I was sitting on my couch, the recliner up and I had my blanket over me because it was cold. My dog is a chihuahua and black Labrador mix, her name is Lulu. Lulu was under my blanket and laying between my legs like she normally does when I’m sitting in the living room. I was watching criminal minds, the episode seven seconds and the part where Reid and Morgan were searching the girls families house.

Lulu has separation anxiety, if I leave a room, she has to follow, she doesn’t like me going to the bathroom without her. And sometimes, I’ll actually shut my room door when she’s still in there so she’ll scratch and whine at the door. Which is fine but on this particular night…reminder, she’s practically in my lap. It’s dark in the house, because I like watching the TV in the dark, and my room door is closed, it’s at the end of the hallway and I suddenly heard what sounded like Lulu whining and scratching at my door, sounded just like her, the way her nails would sound on my door, the way the door would shake and even the high pitched cues like she’s being murdered and for a split second I thought it was her but then Lulu shot up from her spot on the couch and gets out of the blanket, she climbed onto me a little and just started growling and I got freaked out because the sound from my door is still happening. I moved my dog off me and get up. The sound stops when I stand at the end of the hallway but I still am freaked out and turned the hallway light on. I grabbed the pocket knife on the table and open my door and there is nothing in there, no marks on the door, nothing so I think I’m going crazy but my dog, who followed me, is still growling and on edge so I just close my room door and go back to watching criminal minds. My family doesn’t believe me and I still have no idea what that was.

Sensing death and/or loss

So… I can count 3 times that specifically this occurrence has happened. I have sensed passing deaths.

Experience #1. My Grandmother in law was visiting us and we shared a ‘looking moment’. She looked at me, upon leaving to go back home, as if to say, ‘This is the last visit you and I will have on Earth.’ I acknowledged her look with my own thought, ‘I know and I understand’. The whole situation reminded me of the scene in ‘The Shining’ with Dick Hallorann and Danny Torrance looking at each other and having their telepathic conversation. Months later her cancer took over and she lost her battle with it in hospice. That last visit at our house was indeed, the last visit on Earth I had with her.

Experience #2. I was out running errands and I had this fleeting (but strong) thought to call an old friend. It felt as if she just needed to be reached out to. Later that evening, after not following through with the phone call, I was scrolling on Facebook and learned she had to put her beloved 9 year old Golden Retriever down earlier that day. And then I called her.

Experience #3. A family member suddenly took a turn for the worse and was in the hospital. After some time we learned that he was transferred to hospice. That evening, while grocery shopping, I felt a sensation; I do not know how to describe it other than it was a very strong, very distinct, very profound shift of internal energy and perspective of external energy. Literally, after 30-45 minutes of that sensation passing, I received a text from my husband that that family member had passed.

I have had more of these experiences but these are the most memorable.

Thank You for reading.

i thought i saw jupiter moving thursday night

i don't have any evidence for it, but i SWEAR TO GOD i saw what I think is jupiter moving Thursday night. i looked at a star map, and if i'm correct, what i saw was jupiter.

the night was really cloudy, so maybe that had something to do with it. but when i saw this, the clouds had passed.

i was looking at the sky, looking for a particular star i saw the other day, and i noticed i didn't see it. the moving star or planet wasn't what i had seen before but i thought it was. i was in my front yard instead of the back and didnt think much about the angle.

anyway, i noticed nothing under the moon. then, suddenly, a bright star looking thing appeared. it moved kind of like a firefly, it went up and down in a little zag until it found its place and stayed put. i want to note that it was a very clear and fast movement that was not obstructed by clouds. at first i thought it was a bug, but it stayed the same size the whole time and then stayed in place. i kept checking to see if it moved, i thought it was a drone or a plane or something. nope, stayed put. it looked a lot like a bright star. then later that night, both the moon and "jupiter" disappeared. looked like they were behind clouds but i couldnt see any light from the moon at all, where i had been able to before.

the next night i checked. no moon or weird star again. then i left it be. did a little research, and realized the moon didnt seem like it was in the same phase that it was supposed to be. it was probably the clouds making it look brighter, but the moon looked very full Thursday night and was not supposed to be for my area.

tonight, the moon is "back", and so is the weird star i think is Jupiter. everything is normal. the moon is in normal phase, the star isnt moving or flashing.. i have a shitty video from the night of, but it features no movement or disappearances.

maybe it was just me, but i swear i saw this. any ideas or similar experiences?

A puzzling Pattern of Recurring Difficult Days: Seeking Understanding and Shared Experiences

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to share a peculiar and unsettling series of events that have left me searching for answers, and perhaps more importantly, for others who might have experienced something similar. It's a story of days so anomalously bad that they defy simple explanation, marked by a series of technological failures and personal challenges that seem to transcend mere coincidence.

Just over a year ago, I experienced a day that was unusually disruptive. Despite starting the day with a positive mindset and no anticipation of trouble, everything began to go awry. My work with technology, which is usually within my control and goes smoothly, suddenly became a nightmare. Specifically, my cluster's nodes began to DDoS each other, leading to a cascade of breakdowns. Attempts to engage in ordinary coding resulted in failures where none should logically exist; code that worked flawlessly the day before simply stopped functioning. Efforts to address these issues only compounded the problems, turning the day into a series of escalating technological crises.

This day was notably peculiar, not just because of the technological anomalies, but because it seemed to actively counteract every attempt at productive work, leading me to eventually cease all efforts and resign myself to doing nothing. The day's conclusion was marked by a personal tragedy—the sudden death of my brother under very distressing circumstances.

Fast forward to exactly one year later, without any prior recollection of the date or anticipation of trouble, I found myself once again ensnared in a web of unexplainable difficulties. Attempting to retrieve an important video, I accidentally formatted the DVR—a mistake that is uncharacteristic of me, given my meticulous nature with technology. This was followed by over 12 hours of unsuccessful recovery efforts, a botched attempt to fix shades, and a myriad of other issues that seemed to compound, echoing the chaos of the year before.

It's this pattern of recurrence, happening precisely one year apart, that has compelled me to seek understanding and shared experiences. On both occasions, my approach to the day was marked by a willingness and readiness to work, unaffected by any prior expectation of difficulty. Yet, the unfolding of events seemed almost scripted in its capacity to derail productivity and peace of mind.

I'm reaching out to this community to ask: have any of you experienced similar patterns of recurring difficult days, where the array of challenges faced seems beyond statistical coincidence or psychological expectation? How do you interpret or deal with such days?

This isn't just about seeking explanations; it's about finding solidarity and perhaps a way to navigate or mitigate these occurrences. Any insights, theories, or personal stories you're willing to share would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I look forward to any thoughts or shared experiences you might offer.

UPDATE: I Just Recalled A Weird Fact of My Childhood

This is a semi update on this post earlier this week, in which I thank everyone for their feedback and theories, I found a few boxes of my childhood. Stuff like old stuffed animals and pictures but I luckily managed to find something important related to Bambi cause obviously imaginary friends wouldn't show up in pictures but I did find one of the drawings of Bambi and what I can easily guess is me.(I had to black out some stuff cause it had my legal name on the corners from my handwritting and my mum's and the black space on top was to cover some pictures we had spread out)

Here

I also started writing any other memories of Bambi or my childhood on a Google Doc that I might share once I finish looking through all this stuff and probably question my family more on the fae lore I grew up with

EDIT: I noticed that the picture link isn't working, I don't know how to fix that. Maybe someone could give me another option to share?

Creepy story from my childhood.

So around 2007-08 placing me around 5 years old possibly 6. I was still in one of those transforming cribs with a portions that could drop down and turn it into a toddler bed. This left the bed rather high off the floor. At the time I lived in southern Arizona. Late in the night very early stages of the morning 0000 to 0300. I was awoken by something grabbing at my ankle feeling long sharp nails. Like stiletto style nails from the now fragmented memories I still have of the night the thing looked like a stereotypical witch. Wrinkled wort riddled face with long nose and rotting teeth. It never spoke but did manage to pull me off my bed and under it. It startled me understandable so. It put a single finger up to its lips in the shushing motion. It never changed and simply vanished from sight as the sun began to rise. I guess I was so freaked out I never spoke about it. It wasn’t some weird dream based on a memory as at the time I wasn’t a huge fan of any media with witches and was a pretty hard set Lilo and Stitch kid already.

My dads driving story

Pretty quick but basically he has this story that one time him and his friend were driving in Elkton Maryland on a road. This was a good 25+ years ago. Then 5 seconds later they were “on the other side of the canal” in Delaware. Which was about 30 minutes away from the road they were on which made no sense. They looked behind them and the road was just covered in dust like a dry dirt road. They both were not drinking or doing drugs. Both had the same recollection of that happening. Both agreed it made absolutely no sense they were here. And both actually went to therapy for it for a short time. But nothing ever came of it.

40 years ago Dover Delaware traffic stopped to floating car.

My dad has this story he always says that when he was about 10-12 years old. They were on route 13 in Dover Delaware which is home to Dover Air Force Base. But about 40-45 years ago him and his parents were driving, and there was about 20+ cars all stopped on the road. Getting out their car and looking up to which looked like “the Batmobile” just floating there stationary, for a minute or 2. And then just flew off. Everyone insisted it was a ufo but cameras weren’t really a thing at the time I guess.

My grandparents said they could confirm it happened and a bunch of witness saw it too but the witnesses were strangers at the time and they couldn’t find any newspapers or anything about it anywhere. Wondering if anyone out there knows about it this too. Could have been the Air Force base aircraft but the way 20+ random cars were parked on route 13 along with him and my grandparents all starring in shock makes it interesting.

Woke up to sh*t flying.

Everyone has their ghost and this one’s mine. But its strange because idk how it could be a ghost. Anyway read and you’ll see. I was 17 at the time living at my grandparents house for the summer in Lewes Delaware. Their house is a 55+ neighborhood all new houses. Therefore no way it could be haunted. I had the 2nd floor to myself which was a bedroom, living room area, and bathroom. The house had great plumbing and heating and electronics so there was no way the house would shake. And the way my grandparents were there was no way laundry machine would be on at this time of night.

Anyway I was sleeping in bed one night. And out of a dead sleep. I woke up, leaned forward, and stared at a painting on the wall. Don’t know why but I just starred at this painted. A few seconds later the painting just fell straight to the ground. The lamp, alarm clock and small dresser next to my bed then flew about 3 feet forward and banged loudly on the ground. I immediately hopped out of bed screaming like a girl and turned on the light. I turned around to look at the situation and yes, the picture was still on the floor, and the stuff was still on the floor. I stood there in shock waiting for it to not be real but it was.

After calming down I assessed the situation. The back of the picture where it hangs on the nail in the wall. Was made out of cardboard and looks like it ripped down through like the picture was too heavy. And below the picture, was the power outlet which has the clock and lamp plugged into it. And the cords must of been wrapped around the dresser/ night stand. Which resulted in everything flying. But why did I wake up to stare at the painting ??

Moving shadows and disembodied voices. Possible shared hallucination?

I’m gonna cut to the chase I do not believe in the supernatural. I’ve only had one unexplainable experience in my life and I am still to this day trying to find a reasonable explanation for it. This story has been stuck in my head since I was a kid and I start to tear up whenever I think about it.

This was in the first house I remember living in, I’m pretty sure we were the first people living there and it certainly wasn’t old enough for someone to have died in it. Anyways I remember as a kid I would regularly hear voices calling my name, the voices did not sound like anyone I know. I would also see huge opaque shadows that would very quickly move across the hallway occasionally.

If this was all there was to it I would just assume this was a hallucination caused by a family history of mental illness. I very vividly remember my aunt and cousins visiting our house and I told one of my cousins (I believe she was 13 at the time) about the weird shadows and how they would call my name. I showed her the hallway this would take place in and eventually one of the shadows appeared and moved across the hallway while she was there with me. She jumped a little and just said “woah” in the kind of tone you would use when talking to a dog that’s jumping on you. I remember hearing the voice and asking my cousin if she heard it but she said she didn’t, but she was super creeped out.

Neither of my parents nor my sibling remember this happening but I remember it so vividly and it was such a frequent occurrence I don’t think it could have been a nightmare.

Strange dancing silver face person by lake?

This story takes place about a year and a half ago so my mind is a bit fuzzy, but it was one of the most strangest and weirdest events I've experienced

At the time of this story, I was a freshman in college. I am a very introverted person and have only made a few friends throughout my time in college, about 3 or 4. Also at the time, I had a bit of a fishing phase where I loved fishing. I still do but at the time, I loved to almost everyday. I only really fished the common freshwater fish; bass, sunnies, a few catfish, etc., I was looking to go for something bigger. I was looking to catch carp. My college campus does have a lake and does stock it for students to fish from. My school isn't near a gas station, shopping center, or anything of the sort so I couldn't just go walk to get fishing supplies and I didn't have a car either so I was really only dependent on what I brough from home. Carp are also very sloppy fish so they will eat just straight up food, anything that can produce a pungent odre so I would just get some food from the dining hall and whatever I didn't finish, I would fish with. Carp also prefer wet, sticky, rainy or overcast weather and are more active during the darker parts of the day. I sat in my room boreda around 6:30-7ish when I started hearing rain drops on the window. I didn't immidietly go straight to fishing, rather I just went to the dining hall at dinner, and came back with leftovers to retreive my rain jacket, boots, and fishing gear. I was taking my time so by the time I arrived at the lake it was about 8. Now this lake is a pretty modest size, you could see probably 90% of it regardless of where you stand. 3/4 of it is bare grass where a walking bath walks by while the remaining bit is trees and other brush. I stood on a bank and threw my line in the water. Leaning against a tree, I couldnt go on my phone because of the rain, so my line was focused on my line until something caught my attention. I spotted a person, or at least what I assume to be a person, right on the outer edge of where the trees and brush begin. Now it was a rainy night and street lamps dont stretch to where they where standing so take what i say with a grain of salt but they where wearing light white colored pants, big black sweatshirt, and no shoes, just what appeared to be socks. They where standing in a very marshy swampy area as well I should mention. If they wheren't getting completely soaked from the head down with rain, well they where getting soaked from the feet up with mud. There was also some black box with a small white light coming out of it which peirced through the night insanely bright, though it was a very small light, I'd assume a quarter inch big from where I was standing but the amount of power it had was incredible. They would walk back and fourth from the edge of the lake, look at the lake, and skip or dance back behind a tree multiple times, all the while picking up this small cube and pointing the light in the direction of different areas, going back behind the tree, revealing at the lakes edge, skip back behind, reveal themselves to move the box, go back behind the tree, and do this all over again. I watched them do this multiple times, making my prencense known by making noise and such, but at this point I was more entranched by them rather than my fishing. It wasn't until they went back behind the tree, this time walking normally, stayed behind it for an uncomfortable amount of time, before walking slowly to the lakes edge and like they had a sixth sense, looked directly at me. However from the only light emitting on them, I could only see a metalic shiny silvery sheeth covering their entire face. No holes cut out for eyes or mouth. You may think it could be a clear face pretector but I saw what I saw. They stood there, almost starring into my soul for about 30 seconds, not once did I look away, I dont even think i blinked. But they turned, and I saw they walk into the brush, leaving that small cube on the ground, and they walked down to, what I assume the walking path, which would have lead down to the trail I was standing on. I went to my tackle box and grabbed my pocket knife from my pocket hoping I wouldn't have to use it, though I didn't know I wouldn't have to, as I felt that light shine on my face from the cube, I immediatly looked up and it was facing me. I had had enough. I packed up everything quickly, and as I was walking back towards my dorm, i heard manick footsteps, very much barefoot steps, I ran back the staircase leading back to the main campus but not without looking down the foot trail. I saw what was my final look at that figure, they where sprinting in the opposite direction of my with their arms up in the arm, not screaming or anything. I got back to my dorm safe and sound. Nothing happened the rest of the night but I returned to the lake early the next morning before my classes and I found what appeared to be horse hoof footprints, though very exagerated points on the top, in the shape of a bloated V. I saw the wear in the grass the thing left going back and fourth behind the tree. I didnt find that black box either. Normally I would say that this may be some drunk or high student, but that doesnt explain their extremely weird behavior, those weird footprints in the drying mud, or that shiny face that peirced my soul. I'm not sure what I met that night but I'm not sure I want to know

I just recalled a weird fact of my childhood

To be honest I don't know what tag fits with this but I honestly need some form of advice on this

So I used to have a lot of imaginary friends in my early childhood, this is mainly due to my autism and early signs of slight anxiety to tie with the already struggle of being a autistic kid in the early 2000s. I loved my imaginary friends and to this day can easily describe and name all of them from when I was 5 to when I turned 9 (I know me being 9 is apparently too old for imaginary friends but that's just what happened), some disappeared as I aged but one in particular remained by me for all my years.
I remember I named them Bambi since this specific friend looked far different than the rest, most of my imaginary friends looked like normal kids with a few being strange creatures or human looking people with wings or witch hats that did adventures with me, but Bambi has antlers. A human looking person with fucking antlers.

Now, I rarely saw Bambi despite they've always been beside me since childhood, whenever I played or talked with Bambi it was sometimes when the sun is setting or when it's really dark and most times we talked via my bedroom window or when we're playing somewhere in the gardens where my bedroom faced growing up. But the few times I have looked and saw Bambi were times when it was a large "group playdate" or sometimes I see them outside my window when it's dark.
The weirdest part is Bambi aged with me. My other imaginary friends were either older than me or weren't shown any form of age but Bambi aged the same time I did. When I was 6, Bambi was 6, when I was 8 so was Bambi, you get the picture.
But along side Bambi aging, I recall they never seemed to have a gender. Now I can easily pass this now as an adult in my 20s that maybe this was my brain trying to make sense with some early forms of gender dysphoria that hasn't been discovered yet, but it's still weird think back on it.

The first time I "met" Bambi was a day I honestly can't recall, my childhood wasn't great so I sadly suffer with some blocked off memories or fuzzy memories that get clearer with how people explain it, but what I do remember is I somehow ended up in my grandparents' backyard playing with the ants pretty far from the house (as if it wasn't obvious I was a pretty weird kid already) when suddenly I looked up and saw them just standing by one of the trees in broad daylight.
My grandparents' old house was a very typical suburban house with a backyard pool but also was set up in the part of the backyard I was in with a long dirt hill that went down to the other suburbs that honestly were nicer than I've ever seen and a small forest that didn't hold caves or forest creatures as I liked to think back then but more so led to the fence that blocks you from the highway. So Bambi was standing by the trees of this small forest and was just staring at me.
I wasn't scared of them, actually it was the opposite since I remember being very excited seeing them.

Now here's why I kind of want advice of if Bambi was really part of my imagination at the time or if Bambi was somehow something else...

There were a few things they said and done that thinking back makes me shiver.
For an example: One summer afternoon my mum bought me a bacon sandwich from the local grocery store and I was eating in my garden with Bambi which thinking back it was probably funny for my mum to see me toss half a sandwich to the bushes, when Bambi started saying how good "real pork" taste and how I should try their pork one day.
Another thing that as a kid I never thought about but now is a little freaked out about was how every once in a while during our late night games or chats Bambi would randomly pester me to sneak out of the fence, sometimes they'd even offer to introduce me to their family, and everytime I would refuse only for it to start again the next time.

Though I loved and deeply cared for them, I ended up never seeing Bambi again after I turned 10 and we moved to a house to make room for my little sister and just simply grew out of the other imaginary friends and moved on with my life.
I keep second guessing who or what Bambi was and currently my family and I made plans to look in our attic tomorrow to see if we can find the box of old stuff we had before the move in which I hope I can find some drawings I had of Bambi and hopefully I can share here

I know excessive detail is against the rules, but just please read this as I have no other way of telling this story from a few years ago. Please.

So I would like to start this off by saying two things, one being if you have already started reading this please finish because I want to know if you have had a similar encounter, and two being that I don’t intend to be rude whatsoever, I just don’t care if anyone believes me or not. I know it would likely be hard for anyone to read an encounter story and instantly buy it, but I don’t know how to state that I am not lying or over exaggerating any detail of this, (every moment has been stained in my mind). So, with that being said I’m not going to go off on any tangents abt why you should believe me, so let’s start.

About a two years ago, (I was 13 almost 14 at the time) was still quite immature for my age, and enjoyed roleplaying as mortal kombat characters, “fighting” with my little brother who is now almost 13.

By the way I live in whitefish Montana, near a place called Olney, (surrounded by woods pretty much). I Also have horses basically everywhere on our property, (is important info for later.)

Anyways, me and my little brother decided to go outside to the back of my house where there is a road that is about 400 ft in length leading up to I would say about 8 round haybales, to pretend to fight each other with wooden swords we had custom detailed and made ourselves.

I was cosplaying as subzero and my brother was just wearing regular clothes, and we started walking away from our house towards the hay bales because we intended to “fight” on them.

Once we had gotten abt half way there which took like a minute, we were almost at the end of our horse pen that was fenced in next to our house reaching out halfway to the bales.

I remember my brother leaning down to tie one of his shoes that had a messed up lace on the right one, and I am gonna get straight to the point as too many details abt anything but what we both saw still makes me very nervous and sweat.

I looked over at him and immediately heard a loud trampling/sprinting sound coming from the haybale area. I looked up and at them, and I saw what I thought to be something resembling a human but was extremely tall, (the haybales were stacked two up, and I think four across.) it was grayish white and ran behind the bales in what I assume a pretty much straight line, then going past them and disappearing into the woods that went from behind the hay all the way around my house, besides the main gravel road that brings you to the highway of course.

I immediately freaked the fuck out, and tried to yell to my brother right beside me but only managed to basically talk super fast to him with an “inside voice”.

He as well looked up very quickly because he had heard the running too. There was a small pause where my brother sounded confused, and the right as he did it came back running to the hay bales once again, stopping this time behind the third row (of two stacked on one another). It was so fucking tall that we could both see almost the entirety of the “things” head, and then it ran kinda forward a little bit and then straight back towards the woods, never to be seen again.

I want whoever that is reading to this point to know that this all happened in the span of about 5-8 seconds, and saying that whatever this was was running is a complete understatement.

It had to be running at least 40 miles an hour, or fast enough where we could both barely make out what it looked like in detail, just the overall appearance. It looked to me as kinda like the rake but way taller and more slender looking and gray.

I remember my brother yelling what the fuck and literally so do I as we full on bolted back to the house in probably 15 seconds. I got there first , yanked my brother in the door and slammed it harder than any other door I’ve slammed in my life, locking it.

Of course, my parents didn’t believe us at all, even though I was on the verge of either tears or a heart attack from the adrenaline. They said it was probably a FUCKING moose.

Hopefully I will get better answers here than from them but if not then that’s okay I guess, and to be honest, I really Do hope ppl believe me. It feels like a dream thinking back on it, just as it did the day after the incident. It’s weird that I remembered this again suddenly today while watching a military crawler horror story on YouTube, probably because my mind blocks it out as a false memory or dream, even tho I have a second eye witness.

If my brother wasnt with me i doubt i would ever believe what i saw.

Killed/Captured a fairy by mistake.

I was 18-19yrs old I’m male if that matters, I was staying at my Mormon grandparents parents home them 2 and my uncle and aunt living there, I slept on the couch, I was sitting on the sofa chair watching tv when what I thought to be a mosquito had landed on me so I immediately smacked it, I noticed the mosquito hadn’t been squished and for some reason I felt compelled to pick it up and take a closer look, to my surprise it had a human like face, legs, arms, hands, feet, a evil looking gray color, I immediately showed my uncle and grandma they both agreed that my grandpa needed to see it so I put it in a ziplock bag and zipped it closed, I also took a picture of it on my phone, later when my grandpa got home I was ready to show him but there was nothing in the bag and my grandma and uncle were acting as if it never happened, the picture was gone also, I forgot that night until a few months later and now I am sharing it,- Through out all of it and even now thinking of it and talking of it makes me feel uncomfortable and afraid they are evil at least these ones.,-I’m not necessarily religious or was at the time I believe there’s a god.

Strange Gaseous Purple Orb in the Sky

Strange Gaseous Purple Orb in the Sky

About a year ago my brother and I were hanging out with a friend of ours. It was late at night and he was bringing us home. After he let us out we were walking to our house. The ground lit up as if a purple firework had been shot off in the sky but no sound to follow. We immediately looked behind us and up. I saw something I have never seen before or have since, it looked like something out of Science Fiction movie/novel. A gaseous purple orb fluctuating in the sky. It resembled a mushroom cloud but mirrored on both ends so they looked the same. It was pulsating a Purple and Pink light everywhere. It had these rings and they were moving all throughout and around the orb. Then it disintegrated into nothing. The whole incident was about 10 seconds in total. I am just curious and wanted to see what others thought. We live in a Colorado mountain town at an elevation just over 7,000 feet.

Did I see a fairy?

I hope I don't sound crazy. I was just tidying my room and out of the corner of my eyes I saw what I thought to be a very tiny dragonfly. This wouldn't be uncommon in my room because my bedroom windows face a creek and I often find dragonflies in and around the house. Being curious like I am, I switched my lights on to get a good look and it was GONE, I looked everywhere for this dragonfly, behind the curtains I saw it flying towards, moved furniture around, I went crazy trying to find this dragonfly and it was just not there.

What has me wondering about it possibly being a fairy, is the way it was flying super close to the ground and as soon as I looked at it, it just vanished. My bedroom windows were all closed at the time so if it was a dragonfly it couldn't have escaped and I think I would have found it again with all the searching I did. I'm going a bit crazy over it cause I can't find this supposed dragonfly in my room and now I'm dead curious to know what I saw??

Survey of anomalous experience/phenomena

My name is Scarlet and I am a masters student at the City College of New York working on my thesis, a research study of the psychological processes during individuals’ experiences/encounters with ghosts/perceptions of the deceased. I would like to invite you to participate in my research study, which consists of an anonymous online research survey. Answering the questions takes 25 minutes on average (please note, you can save/return to the survey to complete it). If you believe you have experienced or made contact with a ghost/deceased person/entity, you are eligible to participate. You must also be 18 years or older and have a working proficiency in English. The record of this study will be kept private and there will be no uniquely identifying information in the questionnaires that would allow for answers to be matched to you personally. For more information about the study please click on the link below. If you have any questions, please contact me at ssidwel000@citymail.cuny.edu
Thank you for your interest! :)

I’m just confused and still stuck on this I guess

In the summer of 2022 (my last camping trip with my family) we went to a popular camping location in Ohio. If you can figure it out, bonus to you. My sister and I me (17 at the time) and her (14 at the time) shared a tent so we stayed up giggling and messing around quite a bit like uno or talking about boys she liked. Mostly for week one in the two week trip it was fine, we slept and talked like normal. Until the second week where things took a turn. I have a really hard time with sleeping so when week two strolled around my sister would be passed out asleep and I’d be sitting wide away for a hours at a time.

While these hours where I sat awake I heard noises, crunching, shifting, growling, howling. The basic out door noises. For the next 2 days of week 2 I heard a lot of walking and talking in the woods, things like “come here” or “help me” sometimes I’d hear faint whispering near my tent. I was honestly scared shitless. On the last 2 nights which probably had been the worst, my sister was awake, both of us playing uno with her phone dead and mine on a cool 20%.

Around maybe 2am my sister went to lay down and so did I. Until I heard thick foot steps around the tend, too heavy for deers or wolves but too light for bears or elk. It was almost like a person was walking around my tent. My sister was awake and quietly watched as someone or something pressed on the tent sides and door. Now my sister and I move all the little tent zippers into our tents at night to keep people from trying to get in. Clearly this person or thing was looking for said zippers. So we felt pretty smart. This was night 4 of week 2

Now finally week 2 night 5. The same heavy footsteps the same touching at the walls and the same whispering to “come here” and “come out.” My scared booty waited until 5am where I sat outside waiting for my grandma. While sitting out I heard whispering and then screaming, the scariest most blood chilling scream in the world. It sounded like some kind of animal or person or something, but it was so loud I nearly peed myself. I was glad we left and even happier to not go back for 2 years. Does anyone know what this is? Or if it was some dude lurking on our camp site?

Update 1:talked grandparents ands they said tater tot their little American shepherd at the time has been snarling at something outside the tent walking around , whatever it was got scared and let out a husk growl and ran away. It was about 3am for them and it scared them. I apologize for the late update I was asleep.

Trying to understand my first-hand interaction with what I think could be the occult

I have always believed in spirituality and supernatural existence, but I have never had such a direct and validating first-hand experience with it.

In July 2023, I was single and active on social media, dating apps, ETC. I have an abundant mindset in dating, so I was messaging as many girls as possible while I was single and looking to mingle. I had a false and idiotic sense of safety, apparently.

I added a girl I had found on Tinder or something but had never met in person on Snapchat (a normal occurrence during that time, unfortunately.)Instantly, I watched her story, and it was full of witchcraft, fortune-telling, and other stuff along those lines. Before I could even finish viewing the stories, I got a message like “Who’s this?” Which is super understandable, of course.

And before I had time to respond, this person, in under a minute of adding me, blurted out my grandmother’s full name and address, her dog’s name, my mom’s legal name (most people don’t know it, and she never goes by it) my childhood address, my current address and potentially other details I had forgotten. They basically threatened me to leave them alone and that they knew all this because one of their “minions” follows me.

Of course, someone could find these things if they had enough information, time, and a bizarre desire for personal details. But we’re talking 20 to 30 seconds or less. It was so fast, in fact, that I don't even think it could've normally been typed up as fast as it was sent. It was as if it was copied and pasted.

This shook me up enough to block them instantly and to go through my followers and block any minion-type people, lol.

My family, including myself, had fallen upon some bad fortune since then, and I can’t shake the slight paranoia that perhaps this person had cast something onto us.

If you have any insight, thoughts, or questions on this, please comment, as I want to better understand what I experienced.
