Aggressive DHL driver almost hit my wife on her bike and caused a moped rider to skid and fall. Both my wife and moped had the right of way.

DHL driver in a van pulled out of nowhere without looking and caused a moped rider to skid and fall and the van almost hit my wife. Then he stops and starts insulting both the injured victim and my wife, saying it's their fault, despite him not following necesarry precautions and breaking traffic rules, and them having the right of way. Police and ambulance were called, and the DHL driver continued to curse and blame my wife and the injured young man. Cops didn't do anything and are treating it as an insurance matter. The moped rider was in shock, all bloody with torn clothes from the fall. My wife took down the DHL van plate and is going to report him.

It's not the first time these DHL drivers act like they own the road. I once almost got side-rammed by one while I was riding my bike on the bike lane. Be careful with these guys, they don't seem to care about their driving.

Looking for Friends

Hello everyone!

I've been living in the Netherlands with my wife for the last 2.5 years. Being an introvert, making new friends has been a bit challenging. I have some issues with my lower back, so gym and sports clubs are not an option either.

I've been inspired by a Meetup group I attend called No Small Talk, where we dive into deep topics without the usual small talk. I'd love to try something similar on a more personal level by having one-on-one coffee meetings, and we can have one as soon as next Sunday. These meetings would focus exclusively on meaningful conversations.

If you're interested in exploring these deep questions and building friendships along the way, feel free to reach out. I'll share the topic beforehand so we can dive right in! Some example topics could include whether free will exists, the impact of technology on society, or the concept of happiness.

Looking forward to some great conversations and hopefully making new friends!

Edit 1: Please DM me if you are interested and I will share more details with you.

Edit 2: Thank you for the upvotes but if you're interested please drop a comment or DM me 😅

Noordpolderbuurt Vibes and Opinions

Hello! I am looking for a house in The Hague and something within reasonable (~10mins) bike time to HS or centraal. Noordpolderbuurt is one attractive location for me but I wanted to know more about the neighborhood from people who live or lived there.

I live about 7mins biking from there and even from my area I sometimes hear explosions (I'm guessing firecrackers in trash depots) and the occasional late night passerby screams.

So any and all perspectives about living there is highly appreciated and helpful towards making my decision. Thank you in advance!

Nieuw chinees hotpot restaurant wagenstraat

Quality and quantity delivery food

Hi! Are there more places like Ali’s incredible sandwiches? You order for 50,- and can eat good food for 2/3 days. I really like them, they only do not have meat. So are there more places with the same quality, quantity and price? Every kitchen welcome! We want to switch sometimes!

Thank you 🙏

Cheap furniture in The Hague

Hello! I am about to move to an empty apartment for a short period of time and I was wondering if there are any second hand furniture stores, online pages where people sell stuff or any places where people give away their things. Thank you in advance for your tips redditors!

Ideas for Saturday nights in DH!

Hi everyone, I’m a 33M, generally calm, but now that I’m single and don’t know many people, I’d like to find a place where I can go alone on Saturday evenings (like tonight) and meet others around my age. Any ideas or recommendations? Open to anything!

Favorite museums?

Recently I was gifted a museum jaarkaart (a pass which gives free access to most museums) and I am eager to start visiting! But where to start... What are your favorite museums in (or around) the Hague? Which ones are overrated and could be skipped? Let me know and thanks in advance!

Where to get my package?

Hi everyone,

What should I do when I know there was a package sent to me but it never arrived at my home? I guess the mailman just did not inform me, but where should I reach out to find the package now?

Edit: there is no tracking code. I just thought there might be a station somewhere in each neighborhood where people can pick up their packages?

Edit: the package just took waay too long, but I have it now!

Bouldering budy

Hi all,

I once went bouldering and found it pretty fun, but now I wanna go again and don't really have anyone to go with. So would love to find someone or a little group to go with. I'm not very experienced and would like someone chill to go with.

It would be nice to just go one time and see if we vibe and if we do we can do it more often and if not it's good aswell.

Little bit about myself: I'm dutch and I'm 25 years old. I live and work in the Hague. I would like to go somewhere in the city center or Holland spoor.

Please hit me up in dms if you interested.

Seeking a Creative Space for Our Art Studio

Hello Everyone,
We’re two creative friends excited to share some big news! We’re starting PicturaLab • Art Studio, a new creative space in The Hague. As an award-winning children’s book illustrator and an architect/interior designer passionate about art, we’re joining forces to create a space where art, creativity, and community come together. To make this vision a reality, we’re looking for our dream location—a space that’s not just functional but also inspiring.

Our dream location?

  • A cozy ground-floor atelier with a display window to bring life and art to the street, allowing us to decorate and celebrate every season or occasion.
  • Personal bathroom facilities are a must—our work with paints and brushes will need a sink for cleaning.
  • Open to co-renting with like-minded creatives to make the space even more vibrant and collaborative.

While we’re aiming to officially open in 2025, we’re flexible and ready to rent earlier if we find the perfect spot! If you know of any space that might suit us or have an opportunity to share, please let us know.Feel free to visit our website at picturalab. nl to learn more about who we are and what we hope to bring to the community.Thank you so much, and we can’t wait to connect with fellow art lovers in The Hague!
Warm regards,
Agnieszka and Dorota

KABK portfolio exemplars

Hi, im a highschool student graduating this year and i really spontaneously decided i actually want to apply for an art degree and i am looking into photography at kabk. Even though i do art through many mediums in my free time, i never actually thought about studying it as i was always determined to be a biologist and spend the rest of my life going into academics and maybe eventually teaching. Now i realised that maybe i do actually want to dedicate some part of my life to arts as i thrive in highly creative fields. I now have like 3,5 months to come up with a portfolio and i am lowkey really lost. As i said before, i do spend some time drawing, painting and taking photos, but it really isn't enough to develop my skills to a sufficient technical level, as compared to the works my friends who are taking arts as a subject have for their portfolios, because i dont have much free time(im an IB student). I am kinda scared that my lack of like an actual arts education will make it impossible or extremely hard for me to get in, but ig i am going to try anyway. That said, due to insufficient experience in this field , i would really aprecieate if anyone, firstly, had some advice, other than on whats on the website, regarding the portfolio and secondly, if anyone could maybe share theirs as an example because i really dont know what to do🙏🙏

De muizen situatie / De mice situation

Goedemorgen iedereen!

Ik zan probeer het Nederlands spreken maar ik will schakel naar Engels (ik heb alleen A1/A2 in Nederlands omdat ik heb in België gewoont voor 1 jaar).

I have received a wonderful job offer to the Netherlands. I have hesitated to get it because I know the housing crisis situation is truly severe there (as it was in my home country, hence my need to emmigrate) but the salary is really high, and higher that I could ever aim for where I am right now so I could not refuse such thing (long term plan is saving enough money to be able to go back home as we all do :) ).

Anyway the job is in the Hague. After the traumatic experience of living in a small town in Belgium I would really look forward to live in a big city with more opportunities both in English and Dutch (ik heb oefenen nodig!!). Here I just feel so isolated. Is Den Haag a big city? I thought about Amsterdam and Rotterdam but these cities are already so saturated regarding the rent problem, although they might be amazing places to ne in.

Anyway the purpose of my post after giving some context is that I am very afraid of pests at home, that is any type of animal or bug that manages to get inside through the walls, roof, pipes... I had a truly traumatizing experience with cockroaches before and I don't want to live in that fear and stress anymore.

However I hear terrible stories that in the Netherlands mice and rats are a true issue and that it is unavoidable to get them inside the house during winter. People seem to not care that much about it too. Is that true? Do you all experience mice problems? What can I do do keep them out (besides being rigorous with the cleaning of my place)? Any signs to look for when searching for a house? Any areas in the city I should avoid? Will I get luckier with recent (post 2010 construction)? Higher floors? Are Rotterdam or Amsterdam better options (Amsterdam I would say it is not due to the older houses but what about Rotterdam (without sacrificing a kidney for rent))?

Dank je wel voor je antwoorden, ik heb heel gezorgd en ik wi nietl dit probleem hebben...

Urban development Den Haag

Moorning Den Haag.

I wish to open a discussion about the urban development in Den Haag, expecially regarding the sensitive areas.

Yesterday i dived trough the projects ongoing and I saw the full planning of the CID, great idea, will connect better the areas in the center and push gentrification up in the Laak area. Do you see any possible downside of it?

I also noticed there are no concrete plans for the real sensistive areas (Schilderswijk and Transvaal) which have even greater potential IMO. What do you think will be the future of these area litterally in the heart of the city?

Co-working at Lola's

Hi everyone! I’m (23M) looking to meet people interested in casual co-working sessions over coffee at Lola’s (or elsewhere) in The Hague. I often work on my project, a website dedicated to saving honey bees, and would love to connect with other students or young professionals working on entrepreneurial projects.

I’m usually there a couple of days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and would enjoy sharing the space with anyone working on a cool idea.

Feel free to DM me if you'd be interested!
