/r/startpages
A sub dedicated to sharing and discussing custom browser startpages.
A startpage is the page you first see when you open your browser. A custom startpage may have links to your favourite sites and maybe a search box for your favourite search engine
Looking to quickly setup a custom startpage without having to deal with writing any of the code yourself? Search using the Browser Extension/Website tag and find lots of user created ones that you can have working in seconds!
For more information, check the wiki! :)
Rule 1: Read the reddiquette before posting
Rule 2: Sharing the code behind your startpage is strongly encouraged. We recommend Github but any other form of sharing is perfectly acceptable
Rule 3: Sharing a browser extension or website you've made is definitely allowed. Just make sure to take it as such with the "Browser Extension/Website" tag
Rule 4: Posts must be unique. Please don't submit startpages other people made with only a few tweaks (whole reworks of other peoples startpages are alright of course). Slight re-themes will be removed.
Rule 5: Link to original for Config's. When posting your own configuration of someone else's startpage, add a link to the original startpage to a comment under your post.
How to change your browser's start page

Hi to everyone, this is my first contribution in this subreddit.

to automatically use the corresponding iconEnter
or click somewhere else to save itEscape
to abort the operationDelete
to delete itclick
on a bookmark: open the link in this tabCtrl+click
on a bookmark: open the link in a new tabCtrl+click
on the Bookmarks title: export the bookmarks to a fileAlt+click
on the Bookmarks title: import a bookmark from a fileAlt+click

: empty the slotAll tabs are always in sync thanks to the use of localstorage at every input. It will always auto-save everything you type in any of the tools!
It is available for both Firefox and Chrome:
For the geeks, source code here!
Also, for manual installation, packed extension available in the latest release :)
Here a screenshot:
I am not sure how, but I deleted URL for the website I use for my start page. I meant to make an account with them so this wouldn't happen, but never did. You can add your own images and insert as many blocks into the grid as you'd like. I chose one of their background images, but I know it's rather generic, and I can't find my answer by doing a reverse search. Of course, in the screenshot, I didn't capture the URL. If anyone recognizes it, please let me know! Thanks!
I have trying to do a similar page but I just can't. The page is not working, so if you know how to make it work pls send me a message in discord, my user is pukiun
So recently I really started liking the older look of websites with those pixelated/low quality gifs and all of the goofy bright colors, and I was wanting to make a start page that has that kind of aesthetic, but I don't know where to start with making that kind of thing. I was thinking kind of like a grid of the websites in the middle, and then a clock or search bar or something in the top? I'm sorry I'm not too great at describing it, but I just need a jumping off point. Thank you in advance!
Hey all,
Glad to see this sub back!
This post is more of a brainstorming request, since I'm still trying to figure this out for myself.
I have is a self-hosted media library that I want to share within the family, alongside some other family stuff: favorite bookmarks, etc.
What I want from the start page:
It has to be a start page - not a standalone app. I open new tab - here's my start page, plain and simple.
It has to be shareable - available to everyone instantly, with all the recent updates. This means it has to be either self-hosted or cloud hosted.
Ideally - I want it to be super user-friendly, and I want to be able to have a very lazy GUI for adding more links (so, not YAML, but rather one-click add).
Ideally - I want it to have a collaboration function.
Bookmark clippers are the closest I've got to what I really need function-wise, but they look ugly as sin most of the times. Notion is probably the closest one so far.
Privacy - another optional thing: it's a nice-to-have, of course, so that I could share some more private stuff in a plain view, but I can do without any security - I can manage that at the point of entry (so, local links for the local media access, for example, or google spreadsheets links where Google manages security for me).
I'd appreciate any and all ideas you might have!
After a long hiatus, we're happy to announce that r/startpages is again open to the public!
A new mod team has been assigned to the sub and we'd like to see it return to a vibrant community for promoting / discussing / learning about browser startpages. We have no immediate plans for major changes although we are eager for feedback and ideas on making the space better. Drop a comment here or send us modmail.
In the meantime, welcome back everyone.
Hi redditors.
I developed a startpage to help you access and organize your most visited websites.
The extension is still under developing and will be published soon.

Key Features:
With WebL, you can add your favorite websites to the homepage and access them with just one click instead of typing the URL in your browser's address bar.
We have worked hard to extract high-quality favicons and page titles from any website. When you enter a URL, both the favicon and title will appear instantly and be more visually appealing than the original ones.
WebL offers drag-and-drop functionality, allowing you to easily reorder websites to suit your preference.
You can conveniently switch between various search engines including Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Baidu, Yandex, Naver, and more.
With WebL's real-time preview feature, you can see a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) representation of your URL and page title as you type them, allowing you to preview the look and feel before saving it.
WebL's search autocomplete feature displays keyword and product suggestions in real-time, based on the queries typed into the search field, making it easier and faster for you to find what you're looking for.
With WebL's website title formatting feature, long and messy website page titles can be automatically transformed into tidy ones. For example, the page title "Stream TV and Movies Live and Online | Hulu" can be shortened to just "Hulu ". This feature streamlines your bookmarks and makes them easier to read, allowing you to quickly identify your desired website.
WIP startpage, currently just displays a list of links.
want to include typing with autocompletion and a customizable JS config file whenever i get around to it :3

Add replacement background image link to https://1-DOT.com/go start page

i'm basically asking for a reasonably customizable start page. i don't think i'm asking for much, nothing more than what half of what your average android can do.

Basic Start Page - add parameters to URL to change content / appearance
This is a "desktop-only" start page of click-to-play radio stations plus video and TV media links. Lower left (1) plus! or (2) mini icon click adds popular and useful links, (1) lots of or (2) just basics.
Background display is very customizable with your own link to a background image or simplified (plus! option only) with your choice of a solid background color. Button color is also changeable.
Any appearance change is made by adding parameters to the end of the web page URL. So, no setup file or cookies are used.
The 2nd image is a fun example customizing the page by adding comma separated parameters to the end of the URL. This example adds plus! parameter (to show lots of great links) with another parameter linking an external wallpaper image to radically change web page appearance.

i havent seen this discussed much. but im curious if anyone else made a startpage for a phone? Im not looking for anything fancy. something very basic. thank you for reading this :)
