Star Trek season 2 episode 4 Mirror, Mirror

In season 2 episode 4 Mirror, Mirror after Kirk returns from the parallel universe why does the Starfleet symbol on his shirt located by his waist facing sideways when everyone else's is in the right spot on the left side of their chest? Does anybody know why this is?

I decided to mark the end of season 1 by ranking all the episodes from the season. The top and bottom are pretty easy, but in the middle it gets a bit squishy. Still, I think it reflects my opinion right now.
