Which players have the greatest overall careers in football/soccer history?

What would your top 5 or top 10 list look like? And by career, I mean club + international success including the player’s contribution to the success, along with individual success (awards, records, longevity etc). Nothing outside the sport tho, just strictly their footballing careers.

I want to learn how to play as striker

I want to learn how to play as a striker.

I am a pretty much decent goalkeeper, but recently my shoulder got injured and doctor suggested me for surgery, I am overwhelmed with grief that I can't be a goalkeeper anymore My competitive exams are near and for relieving stress I used to play football daily and right now I can't opt for surgery as my exams are near, so I was looking to learn how to play as striker. I want to learn how to take space, when to make the run and all other technical things. Fitness is not a issue for me and I am pretty much confident about my speed, but all the other technical things such as taking run, cutting in etc, I am pretty much noob as a outfield player. I would like to elevate all this skills to same level as my goalkeeping skills. Please overlook my grammatical mistakes.

What is a legal shielding of the ball? (Adult rec league)

Say an offensive diagonal long ball goes past the attacker, attacker runs for it aswell as the defender. I as the defender will always beat the striker on pace by a little (I'm a runner most players in my league are not fit)

The ball is rolling and headed for the side lines, my body is escorting it out being between the ball and the attacker.

I got a foul called on me because I had both arms to my side not letting the attacker get around me directly. Is that a foul? And if it is, what is the proper way of defending that scenario?

Highschool girls Team tryouts are tomorrow….

Okay so I literally have no experience in soccer at all and out of the blue I decided why not sign up for soccer tryouts at my school. I am kind of second guessing it because I have no background in the sport but I just keep on telling myself that everyone starts somewhere. Is this ok that I am going into this so blindly? Do people at Highschool soccer tryouts walk into it so blindly without a lot of experience in the sport? I was a competitive gymnast for 7 year and I just quit a year ago so l am very athletic and have high stamina but when it comes to kicking around a ball, it's not my forte... I'm nervous, is what I'm doing normal?

Is it okay to wear a Napoli 23/24 Jersey with Maradona’s name on the back?

I bought this before I was interested in the sport and now I am concerned I may get judgement for this in Napoli or in general.

Practice time

Both of my girls play at the U12 level and have two practices of an hour and a half during the week. I feel like this should be sufficient, but only about half an hour of practices is spent handling the ball and even then only in groups (i.e. kicking it back-and-forth in a circle etc.). how much ball handling should they be getting during a practice and why would the coach be spending so much time just talking? He’s on the board for the soccer league and his played at the college level so I feel like he should have a good handle on how practices operate.

I cannot shoot properly.

Whenever I try to shoot, I go for the toe shot not the actual shot at the laces. How do I change this so I go for the laces shot more and how do I make sure I do it properly?

Best path to becoming a professional?

I know little to nothing about soccer / football. My two oldest sons (9yo and 7yo) want to be professional players. My husband says it's impossible. The kids are dual Canadian / EU citizens and are very good players. Is there a known pathway that we can at least try ?

Cam?

My nine year old calls the Central Attacking Midfielder position "Cam" (rhymes with "Ham"). I have never heard anyone else call it this. He insists this is the proper term for this position and not just his something him and his friends say. #10, enganche, attacking midfielder, playmaker... but cam? Please tell me this is not a thing beyond American elementary school students.

I’m looking for the name of the player that did a step over and then stopped the ball with the back of his heel and made the defender fall. I don’t know names or teams very well so only description of him is that he’s black😭

Playing with the u17 at the age of 15 is going to be hard...

Hi I am Anastasis I am currently 14 and I going to turn 15 in October. Currently I am playing for a local club in Athens. My group was always a bit unbalanced sometimes more defenders and less attackers sometimes without a goalkeeper so far n this season my group (u16) is splitting and diverting the players teaming to different groups. And there I am a player of this group being diverted to a new group that has a lot of older players. My concer is that I won't keep up. I can't keep up. Today I saw one of their training sessions and they are more explosive and faster than I am trying used to. I also forgot to mention that I will have a new coach with which I haven't worked with ever again. For anyone wondering I play CB but can play as a right or left back. To conclude I am very anxious that I won't be able to be an important part of the team and won't be able to even have a chance with the players that I am competing with. Any advice on how to adjust or how to get my head straight would be appreciated.

As a PRO Football/Soccer fan what kind of victories do you celebrate most?

So im from the US i got into soccer via my wife being from Colombia and I started following the NTL team of Colombia in World Cups, Copa Americas, I became a CR7 fan and supported Portugal in the Euros but as a PRO team I'm confused how to support the teams. Premier League I get they win the season title but then there is the Champions League. I loosley choose Newcastle United and Juventas as my favorite teams but do most have multiple favorites even if across multiple nations? Do you celebrate winning the league title #1 or the Champions league is the equivalent to winning the NBA final or Superbowl? Juventas and lots of leagues such as France and Germany seem to be a 1 team winner every year so it kind of defeats the point of being excited to see them win the title unless its Champions league alone that really matters? I'm so used to the regular season being more or less a set up strickly for playoffs. I want to get into Juventas and Newcastle United or one or the other if its frowned upon to be fans of two teams because they may face each other in the Champions league?

Advice on improving/training

Hey guys! I’m kinda new to this community and Reddit itself. I felt like I needed some advice regarding football. Im from Colombia and I live in USA right now. I’ve always loved to play football but I always felt like I was just bad and even tried to get into an academy back then when I was 15 but got kicked out because the players said I was too bad lol. Right now, I’m 25 and I really really love soccer(football, idk what’s the right word lol) I enjoy a lot and I really enjoy playing it , but I’m just too bad. I always play goalkeeper because it’s the position where I perform well, but I would like to just play and make the sport even more enjoyable. Any tips ? Advice ? How should I start ? I know how to play kinda but it’s hard to keep up with my resistance (which I’m working on) and know how to like control the ball and stuff . Obviously when I “play” other position I just run from side to side and nobody will ever pass the ball as I will lose it instantly, and I can’t seem to win the ball either. I’ll start to take some time to train and work out as I just want to get good at the game . Bottom line is, any advice ? Anyone that is 20+ age that started playing, how did you do it ? Where did you start ? How ? Appreciate you all reading as I wanted to share this with someone. tldr: I’m a huge soccer enjoyer and fan, and I love this sport. I’d like to know if anyone started playing soccer on his 20s and what steps or training did you follow. I’m just committed to learn and be good as the game so I can enjoy it even more. btw, I don’t want to go pro or something, but I feel I’d enjoy the game more if I just play and not only run on the field or get frustrated trying to win a ball. Thanks !

Soccer Advise

Hello, I am 13 and I need some advise. I train almost every day, I play for an academy, I have devoted so much time to this sport. Today, I had my first game, I had worked on my dribbling and the technical aspect of my play style so much during the offseason because I was moving from striker to winger I had gotten so good with my dribbling and felt like I had improved a lot. However, When I got the ball on the wing it was like a didnt know what to do, and my technical skills in general were very poor. I’m tired of inconsistency during games, but being one of the best players during training. Does anyone have any advice? I do not know if it is my confidence, drills I am doing or anything else wrong. But any answers would be appreciated.
