A dedicated space to talk about the practices of shooting, and share tutorials and tips that improve our shooting skills.
Because I am sure these will become our most commonly asked questions:
Q:HOW DO I SHOOT A RIFLE BETTER?
A: Find and attend an Appleseed near you.
Q: HOW DO I SHOOT A HANDGUN BETTER?
Q: HOW DO I SHOOT A SHOTGUN BETTER?
A: I have no idea, go ask /r/claybusters (until some member of the community wants to write a guide).
Note: Submissions are no-longer self post only. After some time watching how /r/longrange does it, I'm confident we can have a focused community that doesn't constantly get flooded with imgur pictures of people's latest purchase.
Rules: This is not a subreddit about guns or as objects. Ammo in the context of accuracy is fine but avoid topics like a shortage of a particular caliber. Please head to /r/guns to talk about your latest purchase or see pictures of guns from museums.
This is not a subreddit about criminal activity. Articles about shooting crimes belong in /r/news, not here.

I used to go to the shooting range regularly but stop going about a year ago. However I went today after buying a new gun and i had a mild anxiety attack and wasn't able to shoot at all, What could be the reason?
r/GunHolsterGallery
I keep seeing over and over people asking about holster recommendations on this sub, and several other firearm related subs. What holster fits my gun? What holster do you recommend? How is the fit? How is the trigger coverage? How high is the sweat guard? Does it clear your red dot? What red dot? On and on. So, I decided to create a sub just for showing the world what you've got. What works, what doesn't.
Sure holster companies have pics of their holster Ina few common handguns. But I want this sub to show all the possibilities. All the non-standard stuff. All the lights and lasers in holsters. Come on over. Contribute. Share the sub. I've got a load of holsters myself, but it's only a drop in the bucket. So come add your setups to the gallery.
I built a semi-budget rifle for dinging steel out in the desert at 500-ish yds. I shot 10" groups at 100 yds with it on my first trip. I'm not exactly Carlos Hathcock, but I'm usually good for 2" on my old Remington 700 .30-06 with a 6x scope. I was using some shit Wolf ammo to break the barrel in, but that kind of spread has me wondering if something is fucked up with the rifle or if it's just the ammo. Yeah, I know, I should just go shoot a few different loads and see, but humor me.

Bonus question, what would be the most cost-effective, best-bang-for-the-buck upgrade? Planning on a barter stock soon-ish.
I'm training for protection. I got a perfect with the shot gun and I did pretty good with the hand gun but he actually gave me a numerical score with the rifle. Is 85 good? The instructor seemed pleased but I have no idea what anything means.
Has anyone gotten to be around one? Im really wanting a 5.7 as my next purchase and was wondering if i should just save for the ruger or FN. or if these are worth the purchase
Hi everyone, I am pretty new to shooting, and just bought a mid range AR and added a red dot. I was wondering what is considered decent accuracy wise. I was shooting at 100 yards today on a 2.5 in. target (red part). I got a decent number of hits with a good group, but I wasn’t sure if it’s better to go with a slightly larger target so I can see it better and go off of my grouping? This is all pretty new, so I figured you guys with way more experience could point me in the right direction. Thanks!!
I just need it for a day to sight in, I'll return it in the evening or the next day
Looking for a left handed rifle for my 63YO father. Doesn’t seem to be many caliber options in the current market for deer hunting options. Want to get him 30-06, 30-30, .308, etc… he’s been hunting with a top eject Winchester since he was a kid before left handed rifles were really a thing. He keeps missing deer blaming the sight so my plan is to get him a nice bolt-action rifle for Father’s Day. Can the new Savage rifles be trusted? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Hi everyone, I went to the range 4 days ago and was shooting my 9mm Glock. My ear protection must of unsealed as I had ringing in my left ear afterwards and 4 days later it has not gone away. Has anyone had any experience with this before and is there a chance it could be permanent?
I have just installed reddit about 5 minutes ago to share my story. I know this is a big social media platform so i thought I'd share it here. I was in school today and had to go into lock down because of an active shooter outside away. We stayed like that for nearly 2 hours. 2 hours of pure crying as the principle would come on and off giving us tear filled announcements on the intercom. This was the most terrifying day I've ever had. The first time I debated whether I would make it home or not. I think no child should have to go through this and this is coming from a 13 year old middle school boy. America, PLEASE check yourself.
