Alright, no more politics

Y’all can’t behave like adults, so I’m going to treat you like children. No more political discussion. Full stop. Every political post since the election has completely dissolved into bickering and name calling and ad hominem attacks. Read the fucking rules

Until I say so, any political post or comment will come with a 3 day ban. If you continue, you will be permanently banned

Any Tetris tournament coming up?

I went to the one last year, and despite accurately predicting I'd be the worst player, I had a blast. Just went to the fb page, didn't have anything recent. Anyone know anything?

Doing a blind tasting - best / worst cabernet?

Hey I'm doing a blind tasting party with friends, some of them don't think you get more for your money when you spend on good wine so we're going to put it to the test.

I'm trying to have 4-8 cabernets at various price points. So far I have a $4 crane lake, a $25 Alexander valley vineyards, en eco terreno(~$40?), and a Bogle $10.

Do you have any favorite (or least favorite) cabernets? I think a wild card maybe Australian would be fun. $15 fair value, $30+ exceptional + regional, or good/bad cheap pick? Maybe a natural wine?

Gf is coming to town and I'm boring

Hey everyone, I've lived here my whole life, but all I hear of is bars and wineries. We don't drink or smoke, hiking is out for the sake of her knee. What's something fun I (m25) and my gf (f23) can do within the Sonoma County area?

Any local Ex-Mormons?

I'm hosting a gathering of ex-Mormon women from AZ and UT this weekend and we're going to brunch on Sunday morning. We haven't picked a spot yet, but pls feel free to comment or DM if you want an invite. The group is 30-40s, all women but brunch is for everyone.

In many major cities, ex-Mormons meet for a "Second Saturday" and establish regular social groups. Leaving a high control religion is a unique experience and community support is vital.

The last time I asked this question, in this subreddit, I received some really unhinged and threatening contact from a local dude who was not Mormon, but was super offended by the idea. The mods here were lovely and handled it. Years later I'm ready to try again.

If you're ex-Mormon or struggling with faith issues and also like brunch food, tag me and let's go share some flapjacks on Sunday morning.

If anyone knows where the local Sonoma County missionaries are, give us a tip? We'd love to do something nice for them on Monday/personal day.

Thank you!

Concerns these homelessness non profits are not helping.

I’m looking for people that have currently or in the past, accepted help from local homeless non-profits such as Interfaith, C.O.T.S, Catholic Charities etc. that have not had or are not having a good experience. I dont want to hear success at the moment because I see that on Google. Im looking for any honest negative reviews. I’m looking to see if there is a pattern of failure or if its just me. I have gone thru two non-profits to get my homeless family housed and both have fallen so far under the bar of expectations that I have to see why. What we have gone thru with them, its truly bizarre. Please don’t name anyone personally. I get this can get ugly but lets not get ugly please.

What's with all the fires

Obviously there's a prescribed burn up at lake sonoma. But there was also a fire off of the shilo rd south bound exit ramp, one in the SRJC and one near Comstock.

Are these all coincidence or are people starting protest fires?

Election results for the state?

Greetings, folks;

I don't have access to the Press Democrat (nor will I want one), but I am curious as to the results of the elections, especially the props. As such, can anyone provide a link to a site with official results for Sonoma County, and/or the state of California?

Thank you in advance for any reply. And here's hoping for at least 18 months free of election crapola.

Hair salon where they dye mens hair?

I want to dye the top of my hair blonde and the few barber shops I've been to don't dye hair. Does anyone have any recommendations of a place I can go to get my hair dyed? I would try to do it myself but don't really want to botch it

I just tried ZamZam on 9th.

ZamZam is a little hole in the wall on 9th street that serves Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean food. I tried their combo gyro and it was delicious! And very reasonably priced IMO. I highly recommend it.

Permit ready house plans needed?

Hello,

My name is Brendan and I work as a designer here in the Sonoma County. I just wrapped up a deck project off of Bodega Ave and a 2nd story addition off of E Washington St. in Petaluma. I specialize in drafting ADU's, additions, decks, and bathroom / kitchen remodels and much more. I also provide feasibility studies if the possibility of your project is unclear with the city/county codes.

I have found some extra time in between projects so I wanted to pass on my information in case you might want my help on a project or if you know anyone that might be interested. I've also included a link to my website so you have a better idea of my services, experience, and past clients ( https://bpdesignassociates.com ).

Thanks, Brendan

Journalism Student Looking for Individuals impacted by Wildfires!

Hi everyone!

I'm a journalism student from UCI, visiting the Bay Area this weekend, and I'm working on a story about the impact of wildfires. I'm hoping to speak with people whose lives have been touched by these fires—whether you've experienced it personally, work in response or prevention, or are part of a community affected. My goal is to understand the human side of these events: how they shape families, neighborhoods, local infrastructure, and the environment.

If you or someone you know would be willing to share your experiences, I'd be incredibly grateful. I’m open to talking to anyone who has a story—teachers, firefighters, park rangers, community members—anyone who has felt the impact or wants to share their perspective.

Your insights would be invaluable in helping me paint an honest picture of what these communities are going through. Please feel free to comment or message me if you're open to connecting, or if you know someone I could reach out to. Thank you!

Vehicle refueling station at Highway 12 and Wright/Fulton?

A letter to the editor in the Press Democrat today referenced the potential plans to place a gas station at Wright Road and Highway 12. Living in that area, I think that's the perfect spot for one, especially given the planned future construction of a modern-style highway interchange in that area. Ideally, it would increase safety in the vicinity, with a greater people-presence, more lighting, and serve as the east side of a formal Rodota trail crossing here, sorely lacking. The nearby Chevron station at Stony Point often experiences waiting lines at peak times, and the local population is increasing with all the dense housing being built, so the concept is logical. I'm curious if others agree?

New bar on 4th & B St?

Anyone know what’s happening at the building where Crossing the jordon downtown used to be? Just saw that they put up some sort of liquor license permit on the storefront.

Thank you Redditors...I took your suggestions and visited the EDD office in Santa Rosa after my wife's claim was halted. (She recently lost her sight) A young lady named Jessica solved the problem in 20 minutes. It was their screw up. Thank you to all for your kind thoughts and suggestions.

Costco Bakery

So I’ve had the brief displeasure of working here for a couple of weeks in the bakery, and boy lemme tell you…..

They do not clean under washing machine, it’s covered in nasty dried up gunk, the muffin tins are absolutely disgusting, they don’t even let you clean them properly because the amount of work at hand is ridiculous and there’s not enough time to clean them.

I was instructed to cut corners where I see fit, as well they sanitize everything with dirty rags.

Most of the pumpkin mix that comes in a can are molded up like crazy.

I brought this up to the general manager and agm they said that they would look into it.

I let them know that as a professional I cannot condone to cut corners or sanitize with dirty rags.

I also let them know that I wasn’t allowed to take my last break because there was too much work to do and my trainer was scared that we were not going to finish and he was right.

We left a lot undone and he said that’s how it is here.

That’s when they started to pay attention to me, because the whole time I was talking they weren’t even making eye contact, they were just looking around at the customers.

They didn’t even want to talk in private, they were totally fine letting everyone else hear what I was saying.

I was shocked by their lack of carelessness.

So yeah I won’t be getting anything from the bakery ever again.

  • UPDATE *

Thank you for everyone responding, believe me or not, I am telling you all the truth. I used to be a housekeeping manager at a couple of different prestigious resorts and have Forbes level training when it comes to cleaning and serving the people.

Why was I working there? Well times have been tough these days finding an actual well paying job, but thankfully I found a position that pays me double what their hourly rate is.

The Costco in question is the RP location, sorry if some of you had purchased anything from the bakery as of late.

As far as the meat department and food service, they do real good work at sanitizing, it’s just the bakery that needs help.

The problem is that there’s waaay too much work to do for one person to be able to properly clean everything as is needed. Which is why they do not take their last 15 minute break, because they are rushing to get the job done.

I do not hate Costco, in fact I love them for their amazing deals and customer service.

And yes I will be getting in touch with corporate and the health department, telling them exactly what their methods are when it comes to sanitation.
