For a week, I have had pain during urination. Yesterday, I went to a specialist doctor, did a urine test, and a blood test, but unfortunately, the results will only come in 5 days. In the meantime, I received an antibiotic because the doctor believes it might be Chlamydia. I have slightly high blood pressure, nausea, and a strange sensation in the pelvic area! hi guys 😭 i have taken 3 at home finger prick tests (INSTI) and they’ve all come back ‘negative’. my question is i saw that they said false negatives can be expected out of every 1,000 self tests and now im just paranoid. i will admit i have terrible health anxiety so its temporarily stopped me from getting confirmation at an actual lab (don’t worry tho ive been celibate since my last ‘exposure’)

the only blood work ive had recently was for something else and they said my blood levels were normal but WBC was a little high but nothing unusual (it’s always been a little high for me) idk if WBC and RBC can indicate HIV infection tho…

anyways, first insti test i ever preformed was just 1 and the circle for negative was dark blue and then 2 times after i tested again the 1 circle was light blue which kinda scared me and made me paranoid? but when i emailed the company they said they’re still valid so… idk

my main question is for people that have done at home tests using blood samples from your finger how accurate was it after you’ve had follow up lab work? and is INSTI a brand i can trust? i believe it’s the only self test available in North America so thats why i ordered it

TL;DR: Front desk of hospital in small town messed up the pricing so I couldn’t get tested after spending $200 but instead was offered a shot and antibiotics and now my whole body is aching.

So I went to the doctors office after having some symptoms of an STD, however I wasn’t entirely sure if I had anything. I just wanted to play it safe and get tested. I live in a small town so I wanted to get tested today since most places have to send out samples for testing.

However when I got there, the front desk person got the info wrong and a $200 std test would actually be $200 for a visit and $300 for labs tests. I was so angry. But they said all they could do is give me a shot and antibotics to play it safe then I could get tested at another place on Monday. I asked if there were any side effects to the shot or antibiotics and the doctor said no. Well cut to me several hours later and my entire body is aching. Nothing crazy like a 5/10 pain but I also just feel super tired.
