Romney the hawk?

I almost voted for Romney in 2012, but Obama was a "favorite son". I won't describe how because that would be too identifying. I consider myself a centrist, which means I'm a swing voter, historically leaning to the right.

I agree with Biden's hawkishness against Russia. But Romney seems to be more hawkish. Trump on the other hand is an isolationist. That is historically a traditional split in the Republican Party. You find that split going back to the 19th century. I would rather have Romney in there leaning hard on Russia, just like Ronald Reagan did. Notice that Reagan began as a Democrat, yet he defined 80's conservatism. He was no Barry Goldwater, however, when it came to budget deficits. Then again, neither is Trump. Romney? I don't know. I hope so.

We should have Romney take over from Biden in 2024. He would force Russia to come to terms with its imperial past and present, to become democratic, even if it meant breaking into pieces. It would probably give China an opportunity - to further abuse itself - as it expanded its influence, say, into Siberia or Khazakstan.

Expanding democracy takes time. It has to take root. It dies when traditional human impulses take over. We like to hit. We are obstreperous. We need to chill and use our capacity to communicate. That is a higher love.

Go Romney!

Why has Romney embraced economically far left stances?

I guess he was always kinda not very capitalist since he did socialist healthcare in MA but he’s gotten way worse he now supports a 15$ minimum wage (hurts poor people disproportionately and is really just virtue signaling) and also family subsidies (makes people reliant as gov and subsidies never work)

Join Divided Government

Republicans get the senate and Democrats get the house and for a bill to become law, it has pass both parts of congress. Our server is a challenging one and forces one to find common ground with the other side.

The Fall of Mitt Romney; A near-Shakesperean Tragedy

In 2024, Sen. Mitt Romney is up for what is appearing to be a longshot re-election.

Just 8 years ago, Mitt was a prime contender for President.

What happened?

Well, I think it's like this; Mitt Romney became his own worst enemy in many ways.

The "47%" comments and the "binders full of women" gaffes only really solidified Mitt as an inferior candidate to Barack Obama, but he could've still won...

...and then Mitt Romney performed poorly at the debates and Obama destroyed him. But he still could've won...

...but then he lost. But Mitt still could've fought another day in 2016. He even got up on stage to blast Donald Trump, and was hailed as a man of principle once again. No longer would we be beholden to Donald Trump! Romney 2016! Let's do this...

...but then he declined to run and let Trump take over the party. Well, Mitt still can run for Senate. OK! Whoo, we're doing this! Mitt Romney is gonna win! Now we need some endorsements. How about...

...President Trump... wait, so you're gonna spend all of 2016 talking shit on Trump only to ask him for his endorsement to secure a position as Senator? I mean, it'll get Utah out to vote, but this totally betrays your principles, Mitt. Well, maybe Mitt will be a uniter in the GOP and help Trump defeat Biden!...

...wait, now we're befriending the (awful) guys who founded the Lincoln Project and we're against Trump now?

I guess here's what I'm saying. Nobody likes Romney anymore because Romney stands for nothing. He flip flops on everything. He has no principles, stop calling him "principled!"

Say what you will about Trump. He won an election and proved he can actually do good with power. Romney just became a Never-Trumper, destined to be forgotten.
