    [Canada][BC] Another brake check

Going up a hill in rainy road so keep it at speed limit and this ram just zoom in to brake check twice. Saw a lot of brake check on clips but this is the first time this happened to me. I was a bit startled tbh. Took a second to realize what's going on.

    Fuck Trudeau sticker checks out.

[USA] Followed for 5 miles and confronted, after nearly being run off the road

On my way back home from shopping, a car attempting to cross 2 lanes immediately after leaving a parking lot, forcing me out of my lane. I anticipated the situation and avoided the collision.

I didn’t think much of it after instinctively hitting my horn to alert the driver that they were encroaching on my lane.

For the next 5 miles(12 minutes), I was unknowingly followed to my next destination.

Upon exiting my car and playing peek-a-boo with my son, while attempting to unbuckle his car seat, I noticed a car boxing me in. It was an older white woman. I couldn’t understand what she was saying, but she was clearly trying to get my attention. I turned to face her, and after asking her politely how I could assist, she flurried a barrage of accusations at me about driving too fast.

Still not sure of who she was, I immediately stopped unbuckling my son. My wife didn’t notice the exchange yet and continued to walk across to the driver’s side of the car.

The woman then stated that she was “the car from the Exxon station,” which confused me for a bit because I haven’t been to a gas station in a long time.

When she noticed my wife, she immediately directed the conversation towards her as though I no longer existed. My wife did not engage.

I chose to go silent after realizing who she was. Though I don’t believe that I have a threatening look or demeanor, I present as Black, and I am very aware of the way some people view Black people in this country. Personally, I have been accused of looking angry more often than I’d like.

After the initial shock, I pulled out my phone to record the woman boxing my car in. You can’t see it in the video, but I’m making a peace sign while recording. She returns the peace sign and then flips it into a middle finger before driving out of the parking lot.

When I finally look back at my son, he has the most blank stare on his face that I’ve ever seen. Thankfully, he’s too young to remember this.

    Stay safe out there. ✌🏾

    [USA][Indiana] Mixed Responses

I am in my community Facebook group chat and I posted an incident I had. I got a lot of support from my community over 250 people have commented, but there are a handful of people that think that I was in the wrong. The first part is the actual post I made and the second part is something I added, in the comments to help people get a better idea on dash cam footage perception.

Post: This happened to me yesterday in Indiana, right before I got to the neighborhood. A guy in a red truck with a white trailer decided to road rage at me and, on top of that, called me a racial slur.

I’ve got dashcam and cabin footage of the whole thing. You can see I gave every car plenty of space, especially since it started snowing again today. I double-checked everything while driving, and I definitely didn’t cut him off. You can even see his trailer behind me in the footage. Even if I had made a mistake, the comment he made was way out of line.

I’m sharing this because I want people to be aware. If anyone knows who this guy is, let him know he sucks. Seriously.

On top of it all, I just lost a friend of 13 years in a car accident last month, so driving has been terrifying for me lately. You can literally see it in the footage—I’m stiff and anxious every time I drive. Stuff like this just makes it worse.

Let’s all try to do better out there. — feeling disappointed.

    Additional Comment:

Not that I need to explain myself because I really didn’t do anything wrong for the ones who claimed that I cut him off. I’d like to add that Dash cameras often make vehicles appear closer than they actually are due to the lens used. Most dash cams have wide-angle lenses to capture a broader field of view. This distorts distances, making objects closer to the camera look farther away and objects farther away look closer.

For example, when watching dash cam footage, a car behind you might seem much closer than it felt in reality because the lens compresses the distance. This can give the illusion of “cutting someone off,” even if there was plenty of space between vehicles.

This distortion is a common feature of dash cams, not an indication of improper driving.
