I am so glad the much less divisive candidate won!

Building (pardon the pun) on the excellent previous post… how can we reclaim “Sequoia Station” as a place for everyone to enjoy? In the near term?
The stretch of El Camino between Broadway & Jefferson has become a no-go zone for many. It’s a sad state for geography so central to our city and opportunity. It’s now become a Reddit joke. Long term improvements are dependent on investment and policy that will take decades to play out.
In the meantime, it appears to be diminished priority for our City & District 2 Council Member.
How can we make such a central location a better place, in a timeframe most of us can appreciate? How can we ‘reclaim’ Sequoia Station?
My idea of a plan below - would love to hear your feedback.
Public/private partnerships. RWC Police, SMC Transit Police Bureau, Sequoia Station security… coordinate a persistent and transparent response.
Revisit policies that allow addicts and derelicts to monopolize public space.
Demolish the ramshackle yogurt shop, refurbish Caltrain station.
Power wash, scrub & paint everything. Repeat regularly to maintain high expectations.
Reopen Little River Park, reclaim Arguello Plaza for all.
TIFs or other tax incentives for near term re-development Sequoia Station.
Expedite permitting and create incentives to fill empty retail spots.
Encourage pop-ups, city-sponsored events, etc. to help people rediscover the space.
Fine/overtax owners of condemned/dilapidated real estate.
Create a task force headed by an elected Council Member who adopts this as a key priority.
Invite representatives from RWC, SMC, Samtrans and Chamber of Commerce to help solution.
Create dialog with residents. Distill it into short-term goals consistent with a long-term vision.
Meet regularly. Communicate progress, be open with challenges and operate towards the plan.
I don’t think I have all the right answers, but trying to start a dialog.
Signed,
A Guy Tired of Looking at and Hearing About Sequoia Station.
When I'm a billionaire I'm going to buy Sequoia Station and all the land around it and build a building with inspiration from the transbay terminal/ Salesforce park, the Burj khalifa, NEOM, Googles new Dragon scale green tech building. Pay off all the politicians in my way and break ground asap.
Hello, I just wanted to inform all people to please not give any money to the older man at the Woodside Plaza parking lot on the Luck's side. He will walk up to your door and wait till you exit the car, coming back to you when going back to your car. He is soliciting on the property, we have called Redwood Police but he disappears when PD shows up and comes back when they leave. His story is "My daughter has Cancer" or "I dont have money can you help me" but i have told him he can go to the American Cancer society but it seems like he is a Scamer, he never takes your advice. Same goes with the Arab couple that come here once in a while to get you to give them money. Their son plays a violin (but it's a bluetooth speaker). Yep :-(
Thanks
Hello RWC,
Please Avoid the Sequia Station (Particularly the CVS) as there is a Man who is homeless and yelling profanity and is wearing no Pants. Please stay safe.
Thanks.

Hola RWC,
Evite la estación Sequia (en particular la CVS) porque hay un hombre sin hogar que grita groserías y no lleva pantalones. Por favor, manténgase a salvo.
Gracias.

Hey folks, we’re new to the area and state (<9 months) and our daughter is about to start kindergarten next year. While not officially diagnosed, my daughter has two parents with ADHD and shows all the signs.
She’s in Montessori right now and she’s excelling, but are planning to move her to public elementary the next school year.
Anyone have any advice or experience on which elementary schools have good programs for kids with these types of needs?
New to RWC and I’m looking for dog friendly hikes nearby. I’ve hiked pulgas ridge and Waterdog are there any others that you’d recommend?
Free weekly email newsletter with things to do from food, drinks, festivals, concerts, street fairs, talks, classes, book stuff and more.

You're not special. Your dog is not special. I know you can read the sign.
Looking for a great workout and an opportunity to make some new friends? A group of us meet every Tuesday 5:45AM (I know it's early, but you get use to it) at Sequoia High for a 1 hour workout. Bodyweight exercises, running, jumping etc. All fitness levels and ages welcome. Go at your own pace, no pressure, we take turns leading.
Besides Costco, which grocery store sells the best rotisserie chicken for the price? Looking for easier meals and don’t have the time/energy during the week to roast at home (which usually costs way more anyways).
Got one from Knob Hill this week and it was pretty good, but quite small for $10. Safeway is overpriced and not that great. Don’t have a Costco membership anymore and from what I’ve read online, their quality has gone downhill.
Wondering if there were any smaller grocery stores that have surprisingly good and affordable rotisserie chickens?
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
My mother-in-law recently moved to Redwood City and is living alone. She’s 65+, not great at walking long distances, but she’s eager to stay active and meet new people. She enjoys reading, drawing, mahjong, chatting with others, and, of course, good food.
Does anyone know of any senior-friendly meetups, groups, or regular activities in the area? Something low-key and social would be ideal—like a book club, art group, mahjong club, cooking class, or even a beginner-friendly yoga class. Also, if anyone knows of any free or affordable pickup services for seniors in the area (other than calling Lyft since it can be a bit pricey), that would be a huge help!
We’d really appreciate any recommendations! Thank you so much in advance! 😊
Not sure if it happened here or another city but my music teacher got cut off while riding his motorcycle in the morning and flew off his bike, he’s in the hospital now but I wanted to know if there’s any articles about it.
Looking for a place to donate home goods. Things like furniture, tables, chests etc. just have a lot of random things that we don’t need anymore.
Thanks in advance!
If no luck, I will start posting them on NextDoor for free pick up.
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any open gyms or basketball pickup games that happen on weekday evenings?
I'm looking to move to RWC soon and I'm considering leasing a 1b at Marymount. Is it a good place to stay?
I live in redwood city, my mom and aunt live in the Mountain View area. For christmas I want to treat them to a spa day but I have no idea where to start looking, I myself am new to “feminine things”. Suggestions on where to go or where to look?
Hello everyone, I moved out here in early August and this Thanksgiving will be the first by myself. I was looking for volunteer opportunities on the day of Thanksgiving. Previously I have helped out at food banks and churches to pass out food on the holiday itself. I was wondering if anyone knew of, or is hosting something that I would be able to help with. Thank you for your suggestions in advance!
I’m down-bad on funds and looking to save some money. Where does one go to get free food?
I was also thinking belmont but that commute to work(Milpitas) will be a long one, maybe mountain view?
Have family in Evergreen, and I go up to the city a lot so looking for a place right in between. Single 32M, I date mostly in SF as well so that's another reason.
Currently live in DTSJ.
I (late 20s, M) was wondering if there are any run clubs around the Peninsula/ if there are people interested in running during weekday evenings? I'm a casual runner (4-6mi, ~7-9mins/mi). Hoping to meet more younger folks with some runs and/or end in a brewery-kinda vibes!
Hey all. Wanted to switch internet providers for my elderly mother and need recommendations. We need the basic wifi to stream at most 4 devices and cable for simple tv (fox, USA, etc). Xfinity is charging us $250.14 which is their landline, wifi, and cable package but looking for something waaaay cheaper and no contract.
