Rate My AF Base: A subreddit for discussing installations
Rate My AFB is a subreddit to discuss installations and units. Although designed for Air Force Bases, feel free to discuss Army, Navy, and USMC installations as well!
1. No OPSEC breaches. Patrol routes and shift pass times; manning numbers; classified missions; Forward Operating Bases; Deployment Locations; etc. Violators may be banned and reported to AFOSI for investigation.
2. Be civil. This isn't AFForums.
3. Check the wiki/search before posting. If it is a large base, chances are that someone's been there before. If it's locked due to being archived, feel free to post another.
Wiki Shortcut
4. Post about the installation. If you are curious about a specific unit, post in the appropriate installation discussion.
5. Keep off-topic posts to an off-topic thread. News about an installation, jokes about an AFSC, etc all fall under this.
6. No poolee/DEP/questions about joining the military. The /r/AirForce subreddit has a weekly sticky for it; post there. Retrainee questions about the job at a base are okay though.
7. No "It's what you make of it" type comments. Be constructive. For example, "the installation is great for people that love city life" or "outdoorsy people will find plenty to do with skiing, hiking, and ATVing" work better for those "special" locations.

Started the process of cross training to 1B4. Wanna get ahead of the base picking process, maybe a bit preemptive. Bases available are as follows: Hurlburt, Lackland, Scott, and Ft. Mead. There a clear winner or clear loser here?
Heading to Schirever in early November to work there as Security Forces. Heard great things about it but was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it.

I currently am ranking my base options, and my top 3 are Hanscom, Patrick, and Hill. What are your thoughts, what are your experiences? For context, this is my first base as a 2d Lt, I am an Acquisitions Manager, and I'm from the PNW so I am used to relatively chill weather.
I posted this in the weekly post but I think it would be good if I posted it here as well. Still in DEP, shipping out October 15, but studying on what I should put on my CONUS list. Would LOVE some help!! Looking for bases that are near to nice entertainment and/or possible decent op tempo (List not in particular order and I'm 1D7X1D).

Honest feedback appreciated!
My first duty station is Guam. What can I expect?
Rate Malmstrom and the things to do around this base. Arriving there in less than a month. Let me know if there's Futbol team out there too!
Hey everyone, I’m getting ready to submit my BOP and could use some advice from those with experience at any of these locations. If you've been stationed at any of the following bases and have insights on ops tempo, deployments, or TDYs, I’d really appreciate your feedback!
A bit about me: I’m currently a 1S0X1 (previously retrained from 2A6X1F), and I’m a SSgt with a wife and daughter. So, any recommendations on great family-friendly areas to live would also be super helpful.
Here are the bases I’m considering:
Let me know your thoughts or experiences with any of these! Thanks in advance for the help!
Just received board results and will be a critical care nurse at Ft Sam Houston! Could you guys give me any advice on the area, base, working as a nurse or critical care nurse at JBSA? Any advice, pros and cons would be appreciated thank you!

I will be PCSing to Misawa soon. Single E4. What is it like over there? I’ve heard it snows a lot and is a little far from Tokyo and all major cities so travel is expensive. Any tips or stuff I should know before I go? Hidden gems?
