Rate My AF Base: A subreddit for discussing installations
Rate My AFB is a subreddit to discuss installations and units. Although designed for Air Force Bases, feel free to discuss Army, Navy, and USMC installations as well!
1. No OPSEC breaches. Patrol routes and shift pass times; manning numbers; classified missions; Forward Operating Bases; Deployment Locations; etc. Violators may be banned and reported to AFOSI for investigation.
2. Be civil. This isn't AFForums.
3. Check the wiki/search before posting. If it is a large base, chances are that someone's been there before. If it's locked due to being archived, feel free to post another.
Wiki Shortcut
4. Post about the installation. If you are curious about a specific unit, post in the appropriate installation discussion.
5. Keep off-topic posts to an off-topic thread. News about an installation, jokes about an AFSC, etc all fall under this.
6. No poolee/DEP/questions about joining the military. The /r/AirForce subreddit has a weekly sticky for it; post there. Retrainee questions about the job at a base are okay though.
7. No "It's what you make of it" type comments. Be constructive. For example, "the installation is great for people that love city life" or "outdoorsy people will find plenty to do with skiing, hiking, and ATVing" work better for those "special" locations.

So I'm currently an MTL and getting ready to transition back to my PAFSC which PMEL. I just received my MMAP and was curious on how the bases were from the selection I was given.

Looking for good towns/neighborhoods, stuff to do, and general advice.
(S)Sgt (line number looks to be May/June to put on though), mid-late 20s, LRS, no dependents, 1 cat. Put in for BOP, Dover was #2, should be in the area around the subject dates.
Housing: Looking around $2k monthly, 2+bed, pet friendly. Any good apartments, houses, or neighborhoods that are a good commute to base? Might start looking at buying as well since I’ve been saving a bit. Already on all the typical sites (Zillow, apartments.com, homes.com), but knowing what has a good military community/commute just isn’t a filter.
Things to do: Getting more into DnD, Warhammer, and TCGs, so a hobby shop or two nearby would be nice. Also enjoy camping and hiking, history, video games. Any good communities/stores/locations/etc.?
General: How’s LRS? Coming from Travis, so already expecting heavy workload and have worked mobility before. Fun morale, weird PT, other squadrons see as hard to get a hold of? What are the vibes?
I wanna put all 4 German bases on my dream sheet but I don’t have any clue on what the differences are. I’ve really only heard about Ramstein being good.
Right now my top three on my dream sheet are 1) Yokota 2) Kadena 3) Misawa. My 2 (ex Marines) brothers say that Okinawa which is right next to Kadena, sucked and told me to completely take it off of my dream sheet. What are yalls thoughts on that.

As the title says, I'm applying for BOP in conjunction with my re-training (1D7X1B) and need some insight.
It's just me and the wife wanting to look for a Base to start a Family. I like a bit of isolation but still close to the city for the wife to explore and have fun at. I've also been AFSOC all my career so some insight on other MAJCOM would be nice too!

Either way im ust happy to be out of NATO.

Curious what bases others would reccomend for CE with my BOP coming up. I want to go overseas, but this is only a BOP dreamsheet. What should I eliminate and what should be #1?

What the hell has happened to the pharmacy, it is slow as hell. They shut down the main pharmacy and are just using the satilite pharmacy with reduced hours.
