Thank you for all the recommendations for the UU church. I wasn’t planning to attend so soon but the election had me feeling big feelings so I went today and had a wonderful experience. The community and message were exactly what I needed. What a special place. Thanks again, y’all.
So I'm semi new to Virginia (actually new to the east coast entirely) me (20M femboy) and my gf (20F) were wondering if there any good clubs or places around where we can meet people with some kinks and have some sexy time around and/or with others that have the same mindset. I also was wondering if there were any "normal" places people would go to do anything more publicly? abandoned buildings and that type of thing. I tried to look into a few places but VA seems to be at least semi-strict with this stuff. Ty in advance!
About 6 months ago I made a post asking about recommendations for the best grits in town. I followed a bunch of suggestions and then some. I am excited to announce that hands down, the best slap-yo-pappy grits is (surprisingly?) Bryan Park Bar and Grill. Holy moly, I did not expect this place to have amazing food let alone incredible grits.
I don’t know if y’all are as boring as I am to want a breakdown of everything but I’m happy to share.
I did a brief search of the sub and couldn’t find much of anything related to resources for familiarizing myself with Excel while I pursue a job change.
I’m currently a licensed plumber in Virginia doing commercial plumbing and pipefitting through my local union and I’m pursuing a construction management degree through online courses. I’d like to move into an office role like estimating/project management or drafting/BIM but unfortunately I don’t really have the software experience some of these jobs are looking for and I’m not sure how to get it.
My union hall unfortunately doesn’t really offer any of these types of classes. It’s typically more geared to certifications within field operations. I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on some local career development courses for Excel or even any of the other common construction management/estimating software programs like Procore/Planswift etc. I’m not computer illiterate but I clearly don’t use much software or Excel or anything when I’m piping in a domestic water system or a mechanical room. Would love to develop my career further. Thanks for any replies.
Searching for my new go-to salvage grocery spot. Bonus points for high likelihood of vegetarian items, that stuff can be hella expensive at full retail outlets!
Hi! This is my first year in Richmond (VCU freshman) and I’ve been looking for things to do around Christmas in RVA and one of the ones I was really hoping to do is to pop into the Jefferson during Christmas to see all the cool decorations.
I have seen varying reports on stuff like the travel blogs that suggest the Jefferson at Christmas that say it is open to the public, but I can’t find anything on the website. Additionally, there was a post on here 2-3 years ago saying it was closed to the public after COVID, but I’m not sure if this is still true especially since regulations around that stuff were a bit more strict back then. If anyone has any info or went last year and they didn’t kick you out I would love to know!
Hi, Does anyone know of a place in Richmond where I could get a pedicure that doesn't use tubs with jets? I guess they would use more of a basin or bowl?? I know it seems high maintenance but they can harbor so much bacteria it freaks me out. Thanks in advance!
Hi! I recently moved here and looking for a shop/mechanic that specializes in Sprinter van work. It’s a 2009 and some parts are unique, so many generic auto shops don’t want to deal with it
Anything helps! Thanks :)
This is a long shot but does anyone know the man who picks up trash in Byrd park - specifically around Swan Lake - on Sunday mornings? He’s an older man with white hair and he usually pushes a wheelbarrow or a cart. I think he mistakenly took my water bottle and I was wondering if anyone knows him.
Is there ... no daily thread already? Is this my first? If I've done this wrong I hope a mod will be merciful and delete all evidence. If not, what's the best thing you've found on Facebook marketplace, a thrift store, Goodwill, etc? I bought a new-to-me antique oak dining table on Facebook Marketplace yesterday. Spending today getting ready to move it in and my old one out.
Does anyone own a parking lot or business that has a large parking lot with minimal medians that would be willing to let me rent it out for 30-60 mins? Or maybe does anyone have an "in" with any local tracks?
My father in law was diagnosed with ALS this year and it's on his bucket list to drive his AC cobra one more time and do some burnouts in a parking lot before the disease takes over his ability to drive.
We left a message with dominion in thornburg yesterday and will be making some calls during business hours to some other local tracks tomorrow. He doesn't really need a drag strip or track necessarily because his focus is burnouts.
Thanks!
Hey y’all! I’m a stay-at-home mom with two young kids. One of my goals for this year was to find a way to volunteer together, because number one, as a mom without childcare, they have to come along 😂 but also and more importantly, to show my kids what it means to serve. I have yet to even start on this New Year’s resolution and we’re in November. Obviously it doesn’t just have to be completed for New Years, it’s just something I have wanted to do. SO, I’m reaching out to see if anyone has any suggestions for volunteer opportunities that kids can come along. My interests are in serving the homeless, the elderly, incarcerated individuals, or those affected by human trafficking, but I’m open to anything! I’d be so grateful for any ideas you might have and thank you!
Anyone know of outdoor running groups in Churchill? Also, how do I learn about events going on in Churchill? I just moved to Churchill and I’m trying to get to know this community. And be part of it. I used to live in Carytown before this and got to know there and the fan area really wellafter living there five years. I’m having trouble finding things like events or running groups and other stuff going on it in Churchill. I need advice or pointers would be appreciated.
Does anyone have any book club recommendations in Richmond?
Hey all!
Are there any places in RVA where they serve hot apple cider?
I know you can buy it in stores and whatever but I’d like to take the missus to an indoor or outdoor spot today to sit and enjoy some hot apple cider.
I don’t see any fall festivals scheduled for today so maybe some type of coffee shop of sorts?
Thanks!
Saw a bunch of bikers sort of dressed as clowns meeting on Belle Isle today... Just curious what the event was about?
I have driven by this church building hundreds of times and I just made the realization it's not an active church and now I'm in curiousity mode. Property records show it was build in 1892 and has been in the hands of the same owner who I assume lives in it since the 70's, so it hasn't been in service at least 50 years. It's hard to see from the road through the brush but does look to have original stained glass windows. Added photo from street view.
Is belle isle busy on Sundays like 2/3 ish?
Hey all. Traveling from out of state. Staying in north chesterfield for the marathon. Any travel tips I should know in advance ? Thanks!
azalea flea market in the mechanicsville area is closing permanently in the near future because the land has been bought to build a data center. bellwood drive-in flea market is closing december 29th because the land has been bought to build either apartments or a wawa gas station. these were the only two “traditional” flea markets in the area to my knowledge, and both of them shutting down almost simultaneously is devastating. are there any other flea markets around here that are similar to those? i’m not talking about places like the diamond flea market where it’s $100+ to set up a table & it’s mostly small businesses selling food, i’m looking for flea markets that are like $20 to set up & it’s mostly people selling random shit from their grandma’s attic. any leads on where i can shop/vend after these two close is appreciated 🫶
I buy Ukrops grilled chicken breast, or sometimes the grilled chicken strips regularly. But lately they’ve tasted weird, like artificially flavored and oddly sweet. It’s kinda gross. Anyone else notice this? Did they change their recipe?
Anyone have reccs for a local orthopedic doc or a chiropractor? Back pain is killin me.
Hi,
Any H.S. teachers on here? I’m just beginning to explore a move to the Richmond area, most likely Richmond proper, but I don’t know any Richmond teachers.
I am a veteran sped/English teacher. I’ve been teaching 11/12 for 10+ years. I am passionate about literacy & diversity. If anyone in secondary education loves their school or has any suggestions about great districts in the area, please let me know. I am happiest in a progressive, diverse school - culturally & socioeconomically.
TIA for any input 🍎📚
I'm stuck in traffic hell on Leigh Street, along with the Pulse buses because westbound Broad Street is closed. Anybody know why? This is in the Lombardy to Meadow area.
