Rules
  1. BE NICE TO EACH OTHER:

The mod team has a zero tolerance policy on any racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. remarks. Any hate speech against any religion, race, gender, or sexual orientation or just being excessively rude will result in a permanent ban.

  • ELO TAGGING:

  • All links to replays should begin with the ELO captured in square brackets such as [1534]. The ELO can be found in the bottom left corner of a replay, or by using the lower of the two rankings after a battle. If no ELO is present, please use your best guess or use [????].

  • SUBMITTING A TEXT POST:

  • The text format is for sharing a replay(s) centered around questions/discussion (i.e. using a replay to support the topic), teambuilding, or general discussion of PS exclusively. Theorymon posts are not allowed.

  • SUBMITTING A LINK POST:

  • The link format is for sharing replays directly. Please see Rule 2 for formatting the title correctly.

  • CONTENT:

  • Refrain from posting stale content. This includes replays with low effort sweeps, or where your opponent is rude. A close loss is more exciting than an easy win.

  • ADVERTISEMENTS:

  • Please no Twitch/Youtube (and the like) advertisements, leagues and tournaments may advertise using the stickied post.

how can I simulate possible outcomes of a turn in battle?

Hello, I'm currently working on implementing a variation of minimax in Pokemon battles, and it requires simulating possible outcomes of a turn. I have coding knowledge so Im fine with doing this programmatically, but as of right now I haven't seen any PS functionality surrounding simulating a single turn of battle (thats not the first turn). Anyone know any better?

P.S: to keep things simple, assume that I have full knowledge of both teams, their moves, their items, etc. Im only concerned with simulating a turn

Option to terastallize not showing up?

I was playing Gen 9 National Dex for a few casual rounds, when I noticed I no longer have the option to terastallize. The option below the moves isn't present like usual. I didn't change my settings and when I checked my Teambuilder, it said they should still have access to their Terra type.

Is it a glitch of some sort, or am I doing something wrong? Answers appreciated!

I don't get how or why but this team is really fun to use

What do you guys think? (I don't play competitive that much just wanted to use gigas)

    Gen 9 OU Doubles
    Murkrow @ Eviolite

    Ability: Prankster

    Tera Type: Dark

    EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD

    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk

    Adamant Nature

    - Rock Slide

Just good in general. Pure power +2 EQ murders absolutely everything

    Cresselia @ Safety Goggles

    Ability: Levitate

    EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD

    Calm Nature

    IVs: 0 Atk

Rain dance in case I can't deal with sun, trick room to untrick room/deal with opposing tailwind when Murkrow is dead

    Zoroark-Hisui @ Choice Specs

    Ability: Illusion

    Tera Type: Normal

    EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

    Modest Nature

    IVs: 0 Atk

    - Hyper Beam

    - Hyper Voice

    - Flamethrower

    - Shadow Ball

Hyper beam to delete a mon that messes with the rest of the team. Probably not good at all cause it dies if you sneeze at it but the number of times someone tries to fake out medicham and its this guy is really funny

    Medicham @ Focus Sash

    Ability: Pure Power

    Tera Type: Steel

    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe

    Jolly Nature

    - Skill Swap

    - Fake Out

    - Brick Break

Brick break for screens (not useful, just legit had no other use for this guy), fake out cause fake out, helping hand cause helping hand. Now skill swap - if set up properly it turns either regigigas or lando into a delete button

    Regigigas @ Clear Amulet

    Ability: Slow Start

    Tera Type: Ghost

    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Is there an easy way to extract only the text from Pokemon Showdown replays?

I am an amateur programmer. I am creating a Showdown assistant program for personal use. Is there a way to easily extract Showdown's battle logs as text only?

This is why i have a love-hate relationship with Pure Hackmons

Pure Hackmons is just way too silly, random and funny or frustrating sometimes.

Also, this was one of the most epic battle i had... and for some reason its against the entire Hollow Knight Cast:

Generate Battle Video from Log file

    Hello,

I have some of the battle `.log`-files and was wondering if it is possible to generate a video sequence from them.

When downloading the replays you can get the .html version that allows you to rewatch your battle (I am interested in the Video sequence only). You can also get a .log file that essentially contains all information to recreate the battle, albeit in a hard to read format.

Is it possible to generate one from the other? Or is there no tool for that?

New to competitive/team building | Is this a good team?

This isn’t my first time trying to get into competitive play, but every other time I quit prematurely do to being overwhelmed with options, not knowing how to team build properly (I know I can use other people’s teams but that doesn’t sound fun or unique to me), or straight boredom.

To try and avoid boredom and make it more personal I opted to use my favorite Pokémon. SCOLIPEDE!!!! ….what? You mean scolipede isn’t available in SV? Sick. 😐 (yes I’m aware I could play older meta games from past gens or national dex but I wanted to play SV) I guess it’s on to my next favorite Pokémon. SUICUNE!!

Now I know a lot of competitive players have a personal vendetta against Suicune due to it being very “stally” and “lame” ….well Suicune is cool so I don’t really care. Sorry not sorry. 🤷‍♂️

All of the logic behind my decision making was purely from the strategy dex provided in smogon. With that being said, I have no clue what the validity of this team is. I tried to cover all of Suicune major checks and counters and provide some offensive threats later. The goal of my team is basically to get rid of enemy Suicune checks so I can setup with Suicune and use it as a win con. From my knowledge it seems like a pretty good team, but I just want to come on here and make sure 🤷‍♂️

Now I know anyone familiar with RU or any competitive play is going to ask why on earth there’s a hisuian electrode here. From what I gathered in my research, it seems that Psychic Noise users are quite prevalent. ESPECIALLY fezindipiti. With my Suicune set having substitute and less special defense, psychic noise is an obnoxious issue. I wanted to experiment using soundproof to get good switch-ins on such counters, and I don’t think Electrode will just be fodder if that niche case doesn’t arise. But that might just be me, who knows 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, sorry for the inconveniently long post. I’ve never made a reddit post before. Thanks in advance for reading and any help/insight is MUCH appreciated. THANK YOU!!
