I first “got” (watched youtubers talk about the game) into competitive Pokémon in 2015 and back then most people seemed to agree DPP was the gold standard for competitive Pokémon. This could’ve been because of explosion of new mechanics and online that propelled DPP to stardom but even asides from that people seemed to hold it to a high regard compared to gen 5. Now just like with the games they come from, gen 5 is seen in a more positive light compared to gen 4. Unconsciously I knew gen 4 was getting worse overtime but since I didn’t play the tier, I just assumed it was still held in a high regard, just with some annoyances with Machamp and Jirachi and a few unfortunate moments. In your opinion what were some of the primary causes to this shift in perception? Was it the people talking about it, how people played the meta game, just more people playing it recently which caused more people to see the problems, or was it time and distance that made DPP less appealing?
I use this in ou doubles but is it possible to use palafin as a bulky mon?
Mud Sport/Water Sport - Lasts 4 > 6 Turns and suppresses any existing terrain as an 'anti-terrain' on the enemies side of the field able to be swapped via courtchange or hazard.
Anti-Terrain disables most terrain effects for one side of the field, such as not getting protected from status in Misty Terrain but still recieving 50% less Dragon damage, not gaining electric damage from electric terrain, etc.
Mud Sport - Also denies switching out by using a move and weakens outgoing electricity by 75%.
Water Sport - Also denies self destruction and weakens outgoing fire by 75%.
There is usually a limited learnset and no auto-setting so i assumed it has a high power budget so i made it more effective overall.
Is the general rework to cover and overwrite terrain for one side a good direction?
I doubt i nailed it on the first go, nor are both options equally strong if they even need to be given who learns what.
Hey, just made our first NatDex Draft League team, I'm the Atlanta Hawluchas. Thoughts and opinions on the teams, any suggestions?

Jimothy Cool has finally come to the conclusion I and many others have realized over the years, which is that DPP is a "variance madhouse." In most instances, it is a glorified coinflip, a fact which most Smogon Premier League managers have recognized over the years. When I was first starting on the site, DPP was worshipped, and you would routinely see DPPers cross the 15k threshold with ease. Nowadays, hardly any DPPer even goes above 10k, and those that do are usually overpriced. Many people have been convinced that the tier is much more playable and competitive than it really is due to BKC; while he is in fact one of the best players ever, his unabashed love of DPP has stopped him from accepting and recognizing the truth. I personally do not watch Jimothy Cool that much but I respect his content, and I find it refreshing in a way to see someone that normally comes across as quite tame have a complete break down due to the horrors inflicted upon him by the madhouse. There are countless problems plaguing DPP OU, and just banning Machamp because you hate the RNG aspect of the Pokemon seems like a dumb idea. It was used 5 times total last SPL and there would still be way too many luck-based elements in the tier such as Gyarados's Waterfall (which BKC also wants to ban, by the way) and Jirachi as a whole. At this point, the tier just needs to be accepted for what it is: a very luck-based metagame. Ultimately, I am just glad that it seems like this suspect test is opening people's eyes to the true nature of Gen 4 OU.
So, background info, i play a Pokémon game where the meta is this:
I want to create the strongest team possible. Meaning that i can use any of the Pokémon here. These are the pokemon i currently have access to:
Salamence, Scizor, Gengar and Metagross are megas.
Scolipede, Toxapex, Gliscor and Mewtwo are Hidden ability.
Mew and Scolipede are baton passers.
I want to counter the meta, and the most common meta pokemon are these:
Darmanitan (Galar)
Dracovish
Marshadow
Mewtwo
Greninja (Ash, and HA)
Salamence (Mega)
Gliscor (HA)
My current team is that bottom row, consisting of Marshadow, Gliscor, Mewtwo, Scizor, Toxapex and Shaymin (Sky).
What weaknesses does my team have? What strengths? How do i beat the meta and create the most unstoppable team? What should i add to my team?
I appreciate any answers! :D
What are your favourite competitive Smogon youtubers? I wonder who are the most popular ones. Reddit only allows 6 options, so please don't blame me to not have included your favourite poketuber.
Welcome to Team Bazaar Tuesday! This is a platform for you to post the teams you have built in a more casual setting than RMT posts, similar to the Smogon Bazaar Threads.

Whoever came up with the Cosmic Power Arceus Fighting stall set, I hope you burn in hell and never find peace in your life ever again
Before I ask this, let me clarify that I’m not crying or whining about anything, I’m just curious.
How are the teams chosen in Monotype Randoms? I’m asking this due to the fact that it seems like more often than not, the teams that I face are super effective STAB against my own mons. I don’t mind the disadvantage, because it promotes creativity (yk, until my team gets completely shutout by like turn 8 lol), but why is this the case? I think it’s evident that each player’s team is chosen based on what type gets generated first, and then whatever type has a good matchup against it. Am I wrong about that? Is there something more to it? Would it be more competitive if each type was randomly chosen with the same odds as any other, regardless of the type chart?
My newest target for a weird Pokémon to use in DPP is scyther. Right now I’m trying it out on a team with lead Aerodactyl to try and stop opposing rocks from going up and Starmie to spin in case they do get set up.
The main stars of the team are banded Scizor and scarfed Scyther. The 2 of them come in and click u turn but the idea is that Scyther is just a faster backup Scizor whenever speed it a big concern.
Scyther is pretty much a worse Scizor but I think it’s maybe a little bit underrated. I’m curious on the general opinion on Scyther is.
My best placement yet in National Dex OU. With Tera now gone, there's no more guessing games with potential KOs with Charizard Y (screw you Garganacl).
Zard Y is really shining in this meta however it's harder to check certain threats without Tera now like Ogrepon who pretty much trucks through this team barring switching in on a Toxic and hoping it doesn't have Sub or Play Rough to get around Raging Bolt. Even then, Ogrepon is neutral to Thunderclap and Raging Bolt doesn't appreciate getting hit with a +2 Ivy Cudgel. Kingambit is more manageable without Tera. It having access to pursuit though makes it really dangerous throughout the game now, instead of just late game. Luckily Great Tusk can handle it perfectly fine. Mega Diancie is a huge pain in my ass and requires a bunch of stuff to go right to deal with. Dragapult DDance and Z move sets are problematic sets. I don't really know why this Pokémon was brought back when the Z Move set was what got it banned. What do I know.
I see in blunder’s videos he often takes teams from smogon forums and uses teams that others have made. I’ve never really used smogon forums and haven’t been able to find where these are. I’ve found the sample teams, but I don’t believe these are made by randoms but just staff and there’s only a few. I’m looking for inspiration on how to build around a specific pokemon too, so if you can somehow search by pokemon that would be cool. Sorry if this is a noob question but I wasn’t able to figure it out with my digging.
So I just came back to the game after a while, and have had some experience with comp but still fairly new, especially to gen 9. I was wondering if anyone could offer suggestions/or advice on other mons to add for this balance team I'm trying to make. So far, my core is Gholdengo, Ting Lu, and Dondozo.
Ting-Lu @ Leftovers
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Impish Nature
Dondozo @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
Gholdengo @ Air Balloon
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Or is it more manageable now?
In 2022 and 2023, pokemon showdown content on youtube was basically gimmicks and noobs with full Uber teams getting salty in the chat. Temp6t and similar youtubers were very popular.
Now, it feels like actual teambuilding and laddering are much more popular (and I love it). What happened in the meantime?

What would you change? I would like to keep the typhlosion. Yet i also would love to put the sun
Got me to 1500+ in DUbers, any suggestions for improvements? (I'd prefer not to sub out mons for other blatantly overpowered mons with psych up like darkrai, arceus or iron val)
