RNG abuse, also referred to as RNG manipulation, is a procedure that manipulates the pseudo-random number generator in the main series games to obtain a desired Pokemon. It is commonly used to obtain shiny Pokemon or Pokemon with high Individual Values or IVs.
RNG abuse is a series of techniques that allow you to manipulate the game's internal random number generator in order to obtain the perfect Pokémon. This allows you to get shinies, eggs, or event Pokemon with perfect IVs.

I’ve been able to hit my seed consistently, but I can’t seem to figure out how to generate the chatot pitches. What info should I worry about/ ignore when filling out the “RNG info” tab?
I put the most recent shiny I caught in Kitakami since those are pretty high leveled Pokemon and therefore I did not mess with his stats all. I put in his stats in Serebii and this is what they said
#876 Indeedee [+SP.ATK -ATK]
IVs: 9 / 25, 26 / 30 / 3, 4 / 13, 14 / 12
Stats at Lv.71: 172 / 103 / 104 / 171 / 149 / 148
(nature is Modest for context)
Can someone figure out my SID from this?
Hello,
i'm trying to RNG manipulate Brilliant Diamond with Pokefinder but my Trainer-ID starts with a 0.
Everytime i try to find my TID and SID i can not put in 0 as the first number in the Trainer-ID so for example if you want to put in your ID (012345) it shows as (12345) and therefore that i can not find my SID and TID.
Can anybody help me out?
i have been trying to get a shiny starter on leaf green and i need my common seeds.
This guide tells me that i require a gift pokemon in order to get said common seeds, the problem being that the first actual gift is an eevee somewhere in the game, but i dont wanna get ahead of the story without my shiny starter.
now, since the starter is a pokemon given to you as a gift, can it be used in order to get my common seeds?
I saw some videos of people entering the e-reader room using cheat codes, if i RNG the shadow scizor and transfer it to pokemon home, is it considered hacked? If i had to guess yes
Please helpppppp
Hey guys just wanted to see if anybody else had this issue. Was doing gen v starter rng and using rng reporter on my pc to get it done. Got my id and sid figured out and found a timid frame I wanted. I landed on it but it didn’t sparkle so I checked and it was the timid one I wanted because I used the adjacent seed finder tool to double check.
I decided to try using rng reporter on my laptop using the exact same info and this time I did the exact same thing and I got my shiny snivy. Anybody know why this might happen?
( should i just try looking for another Eevee or keep this one, it has almost perfect ivs but im doing a shiny run only)
Hello, so I have a Pokemon Platinum game where I have a Manaphy egg in the PC. I would like to use rng to find and make a new save on a different game in which the Manaphy will be shiny. I know that I need to hatch the egg to find it’s IVs and use those to find the PID for the Manaphy, but how do I do that? Can anyone explain to me a semi-detailed way for me to do this? I am sorta new to using RNG as a whole. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
With the most recent version of Pokefinder, I can specify how many blocks are placed in a given biome now, which is great. But the available Pokémon in the drop down menu do not include the ones found once the blocks have leveled up, such as Riolu or Gible, and any necessary steps to get them to show up in that menu are not readily apparent. What’s the solution, if there is one? Is Pokefinder even capable of including those encounters in the first place?
So I'm attempting to do RNG manipulation on Pokemon emerald, while playing and using Gen 3 Seed Assistant it said that I hit the Square Shiny but in the game it doesn't show..
Does that mean I didn't hit the correct frame or did I do something wrong?
I’m having a bit of trouble with the CoPilot tool and wondering if anyone has had the same issue?
Note: I’m using a PAL colosseum but a hacked Japanese Wii. I’ve been successful with all blink and simple noiseless RNGs at 60hz using AV and I’m trying battle blink for the first time. My target is Absol. Pokémon on the field are Bayleef and Umbreon. Bayleef is switched in on the last turn of battle. I’ve been setting a 3 minute timer for after the opponent’s last Pokémon is knocked out.
I attempted the battle blink RNG on a PAL Colosseum at 50hz (as recommended). I set up a new profile and calibrated. The calibration went well and I landed on a calibration of 42F after several tries. But 2 attempts after I had calibrated my profile to 42F, the timer function completely broke and only matches blinks at an adjustment of -100 and ends around the 5th beep instead of exactly at the 6th.
I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the program, setting the calibration on my profile back to 0F, adjusting the timer, updating and resetting my laptop, and switching to a AV to HDMI from AV. None have worked.
Is there anything that I’m missing or obvious mistake I made? Only thing I can think of is that I haven’t messed with any of the blink cooldown values (auto set to 10 for Wes and Opponent and 5 for Bayleef).
I’ve been able to land approximately around my target, but with the timer beeps messed up I’m relying on the blue progress bar/countdown which isn’t ideal. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading!
Hi all, I've been looking for info on this but can't find it anywhere. I've been trying to RNG a shiny Quilava in Colosseum. I actually managed to do one, but it was a little while ago and I got lucky. My problem is that it is too hard (for me) in Phenac City and in Dark Pokemon Lab. I would want to do it in Snagem Hideout if possible. Is it possible to ensure that Quilava ends up there? When is determined and does anyone know by what method?
Hello everyone! I got into bw1 rng a few weeks ago and now I’ve beaten the game and rng’d my starter and 8 wild Pokemon to be shiny. I’m now trying to rng a shiny Thundurus and it’s not going well. I have several questions about this hunt:
How exactly do you find your SSF if the frames move in unpredictable ways? Like if 10 chatot flips can move me like a 100 frames forwards or backwards from my SSF then how will I ever figure it out?
In general how do you know which frame you landed on if you have literally hundreds of potential options and none of your flips will consistently line you up?
How exactly does the Alder/E4 method work? I understand you can beat the elite 4 and that will respawn the roamer, but I can’t find a guide for it.
I only care about the Pokemon being shiny not its IVs or nature. Thank you all in advance!
As the title says, and how do I do it?
Every time I try to connect my 3ds to the 3dsRNGTool through Bootntr selector I get this crash before the game even finishes loading. Any help as to how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Hey y'all, so I just recently got a copy of pokemon Ruby for the GBA that I'm really excited about and want to do a dtq (dream team quest). For those of you who don't know, it basically means making a team of my favourite shiny Pokemon (which would involve a shiny Starter in this case). The only problem with this is that right now the internal battery is dry which to my understanding (please correct me if I'm wrong) means that on any given frame everything WILL be predetermined, so if I soft reset for a starter I'll get the same frames each time and it isn't really possible to make it "random". I also don't really want to get the internal battery replaced because I've heard lots of horror stories about how that goes wrong in GBA cartridges.
My main questions are really just
a) can I do any kind of rng manipulation with a random trainer and secret ID (without catching a different shiny to find out)
b) if so, how do I do that? If not, what are some recommended alternative methods?
To be clear again I ONLY want to get a shiny Starter, I do NOT want to make any other shiny Pokemon predetermined
Thank you all for the help :)
I wanted to get a ds lite but don’t want to spend so much money on ds games do thought an everdribe or r4 would work
Hello all, so I was just looking at some guides for shiny feebas rng hunting and I watched a video from imablisy but the video is 5 years old so it may be outdated because from his video in pokefinder it looks like the shiny feebas should appear on the same frame as the shiny magikarp or sharpedo or whatever pokemon but in my version of pokefinder it says that shiny feebas have their own frame. So i was just wondering if anyone could confirm should I aim for the shiny feebas frame or shiny magikarp/sharpedo frame? Thank you
Hello, first time poster here! I am currently replaying pokemon shield and would love to catch the legendaries in beast balls. Sadly, they are quite rare.
There is however a little known watt trader in the crown tundra on snowslide slope that has a very low chance of selling a beast ball each day. I would love to be able to know on which day the guy sells it. Is there any knowledge on this? I can only find lotto id manips, which seems it can operate on the same RNG but I could not find how to extend it to the watt trader RNG.
TL:DR how does the snowslide slope watt trader rng work and can it be manipulated?
Is there any reason why my trainer name changed from my own into this one? Is it a bug or something?
Trying to RNG shiny eggs in black and it only shows frames starting at 51. Now sure what I did wrong
I've hit my frame and it isn't shiny, not sure why
I know my SID is right, it's from the imablissy video and I've used it successfully for the mudkip and an aron
Any help much appreciated thank you
I’m trying to do the Cute Charm glitch to get shiny starters I got the correct ID on the 2nd attempt, then failed the shiny steps so I restarted. Been at it now for 3 hours following along blissys YouTube video. I was paying so much attention and now I’m so emotional it’s making me lose focus. How do you guys stay calm? I may not be built for this lol. I also am using a MacBook so I don’t have access to the software pokefinder and eontimer. Can any seasoned RNG’ers give me some advice? I am so mad rn lol
I'm using copilot on pokemon colosseum, and my offset is always around -200 to -300, what am i doing wrong?
after spending hours figuring out the blink program and a couple failed encounters, I got him!
I'm new to this, sorry. I've got my TID and SID from my dumped save and set them as my profile in PokéFinder. I have EonTimer now, and I used the "generate" tab in Finder to find any shiny Rayquaza. I'm not terribly concerned with IVs (although max IVs could be neat), this is just a casual save but I'd love a shiny Rayquaza since it's my favorite mon.
If I'm correct, does "advances" mean frames? If so, nearest is 9788 away (with it set to Rayquaza and shiny set to star/square). I'm not sure how to put this into EonTimer though. And how do I time it? Like when to start/stop timer, etc. Hopefully I'm doing this right or understanding it decently so far. Any help or guidance is appreciated!
