Just for anyone curious, the full 3 minute version of the theme song (La La La it's the Lampies) is pretty much impossible to find
I emailed mcasso, the composers, recently. They've replied and said they'll be releasing it soon in various platforms anyway!
I thought I'd ask what everyone's favourite programmes are that they found online, when they had never expected to see them at all.
I'm thinking more one-offs than series, but anything is good. One of my favourites was finding the David Mercer play "And Did Those Feet?" on YouTube, randomly one day after looking for it for ages. Thought I'd never see it, but then there it was. It's pretty easy to find now, but seemed like a miracle back then.
Anyone else strike televisual gold?
I found some old episodes of Big Break on VHS that were taped off the telly years ago. The problem is I don't have a video player to watch them on does anyone know if there is anywhere online that I can watch both Pot black and big break there doesn't seem to be any dvd release that I am aware of it would be great to watch several episodes of each

It started slow and I had to get used to how its pretty much entirely a studio bound and very dialogue heavy series.
But as things get going, it was a very interesting and at times tense show to watch. Some aspects I found a little bit far fetched (I still don't quite understand why the Prime Minister could hold on to power after defying the General and his special advisor Dennis Norman), but other aspects of the autocratic United Kingdom are still very relevant today.
There were some uncharacteristically progressive ideas sprinkled in. I loved that very frank scene where it s revealed that Dennis Norman has an affair with DCI Arnold, and Arnold actually tries to express his feeling to him. It's very rare that we get to see the "bad guys" actually.. fall in love and have feelings? I thought that was rather special for a 1970s show.
There's also an entire episode where its just the 2 main female characters, talking to eachother for an hour about what it means to be married to the men. It doesn't quite pass the Bechdel test, but its also very rare for women to carry a whole episode like that.
I just love old television. There is no big emotional music. Stuff just happens. The Prime Minister just gets *shot* in the final episode without any fanfare. The gunshot is so loud it makes the camera wobble. But its somehow more grim and just so fucking ugly than modern slick TV. It's theater! The drama comes from the actors, not from cliffhangers, explosions and sweeping music.
Anyway, just some random thoughts. Did you guys see it, and are there any recommendations? I've already seen "1990" which is very similar. "Sandbaggers" also has some similarities in style. Are there similar tense shows maybe outside the dystopian/scifi genre?
I was wondering if anyone on here remembers or was a fan of the Nat and Georgia storyline that featured on Brookside in the mid 90s. I was about 7 at the time and can remember being absolutely furious with my parents yelling at them that Nat and Georgia weren't doing anything wrong. As they wouldn't allow me to watch i don't know how it ended and have been wondering for almost 30 years now. I would try and watch but they eventually caught me and kept a constant eye on me when Brookside aired from then on. Can anyone tell me what happened to them or if it is available to watch online anywhere being a soap they obviously had to get found out and i assume that it all ended in disaster.
For anyone who hasn't a clue what I am going on about it was a storyline that involved a incestuous relationship between siblings a brother and sister. It was a consensual relationship as far as I am aware and please don't get on your high horse and say that it is disgusting or morally wrong or whatever I am not interested in your opinions on the subject personally I loved it and only want to hear how things worked out and if I can possibly get the chance to finally view it for myself. Thanks for your help
Hi I stumbled upon a episode called half a ton of heartache and would love to see the rest of the series. Thanks in advance for any help
She was a kid in the 70s and 80s and she’s often reminiscing about a show she loved, but she won’t tell me the name because “it’d be too embarrassing to admit she still likes it”. I have caught her watching it on TV and wishing the picture quality was better so I was trying to find if there were any remastered DVDs or something. There’s a guy with curly hair who’s her favourite and they have guns and I think the boss is Scottish? I know it’s from the UK, but there’s a lot of cop shows from that era. If anyone can help, that’d be amazing, thank you.
Full disclosure, when Royle Family first came out I will have been around 13-14 and I didn't really "get it", so didn't bother watching much of it or the Christmas Specials. Recently I started watching it after a friend talking about it so decided to give it a proper watch and I'm both kind of gutted that I never bothered with it when I was younger, but also glad I'm appreciating it now.
The characters are so relatable and while, for the most part, it's not necessarily filled with "jokes" in the traditional sense you'd expect from a sitcom, its humour comes more from its familiarity and relatability for working class families in the 90s.
Most of us can see Jim in our Dads, or Barbara in our Mums, or even the dynamic with the Nana and the family.
What are your experiences with Royle Family. Which is your most relatable character? Were you one to watch it when it was first out, or did you - like me - discover it later?
I go on youtube sometimes just to listen to the theme music for these shows:

word in action, https://youtu.be/rYr_WpL2pi8?si=izDyTfeSzSrMPeIO - the closing music was very sad
…. Any other old news/factual shows with great intros?

One of The earliest show on The channel.
It was filmed in 1972 and aired on December 7, 1972. I've searched around Google and found some episodes from that season/year on Internet Archive but the particular episode I want doesn't seem to be available as far as I can tell.
Theme tune by the Pet Shop Boys. Jeff Banks. High street meets the Catwalks. Family entertainment with high fashion. Sexy clothes. Sexy models. Something for mums dads and teens. Perfect BBC viewing Sunday afternoons at 5. Huge viewing figures back in the day. Dolce & Gabbana one minute. Debenhams for men the next. Cracking telly that amused entertained informed and was creatively filmed too.
In a time before This Morning back in the 70’s there was Pebble Mill at One. A ground breaking show that pushed the boundaries of the live magazine show. They once landed a Harrier Jump Jet on the show live! They featured loads of music acts even punk and new wave despite being a very middle of the road TV Show. Loved it
Here's one for those who like spotting the stars in the making! My granddad's favourite show - he was convinced they were filming it live in a Crown Court, so good was the acting. Anyone else remember this daytime treat? And who can you recognise from these cameos?
