So either last year or the year before, I watched a documentary about Christmas through the decades 1940's-1990's. I think it was on BBC but could have been Channel 5. It was all about what people did, what presents they got, what they ate and drank over Christmas each decade.
If anyone could help, I would appreciate it!
EDIT: Found it. It's called 'Back in Time for Christmas'. It was a two-parter, that aired on BBC Two. However, it is no longer available on iPlayer so if anyone happens to have the full episodes or knows where to find them, I would be grateful.
Hello! I remember watching this really surreal comedy show after I came home from a night out in my final year at Uni. It would have been on at 2 or 3am early morning in 2004 and am pretty sure it was BBC 2
All I remember is a song about a bicycle box 🎵’whats in the bicycle box today? What’s in the bicycle box?’🎵
And there was also a man who popped up on screen with both thumbs up and said ‘sweet as a moose’
I can’t find anything on Google about it, but I know this existed! Does anyone remember and know what this was?
I absolutely love these two both as a team and individually.
That's all.
I absolutely loved her. She was the best actress on that show!
Back in the day (early noughties) we made a show called Banzai that went out on CHANNEL 4 in the UK and Fox in the USA. It was a comedy gambling show. We've just created a similar comedy game show on youtube that can best be described as Banz-a.i. It's a playalong youtube game that's been made for the US elections. I'd be interested to see what people think and whether we should do any more? Hope you enjoy playing!
There was a four episode documentary series that aired on BBC2 in 2014 called Perry and Croft: Made on Britain. It was about how their sitcoms reflected British history and culture.
Any idea where one can watch it now?
Kix was a TV channel aimed solely for boys, with action cartoons and shows, and annoying shorts in between programmes. But this begs the question: what was your favourite show on the channel, whether live action or animated? I would love to know.
Hi, was watching BOTTOM the other day “Parade” and was struck by how much it pays homage to Tony Hancock, Hancock Half Hour… Ricks character is every bit the downtrodden failure who thinks he’s better and more successful than others, great work
Hi there!
I was wondering if anyone knew where I can find some old episodes of Wogan, specifically from 1985 and 1991?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks 😊
Hi, has anyone played the HHH board game?… I have one but too nervous to play it, worthwhile? #TonyHancock #HancockHalfHour
I’m asking if anyone has seen Trollied as I’m rewatching the comedy show, and found Richard France and Anna very annoying. I did enjoy Andy the head butcher.
So as the posts suggests I am looking for weird cultural highlights of British TV.
Bascially my gf is not from these here lands and anytime I make any references she looks at me blankly. So to solve this I am Editing a feature length clip show through the decades showing off British Cultural Highlights with the working motivation in my head of "Amused, Confused and somewhat violated" for the viewing experience.
It's about 80% done and it's peppered with familiar cultural highlights coupled with smash cuts of Rebecca Loos wankng off a pig. That kind of thing.
So if anyone's got any memories or even link to anything like that I would hugely appreciate it? Thanks
Late 90s early 00s show set in 1970s Dudley. Great cast which included Noddy Holder, a young Amanda Holden, Brian Conley and Nigel Planer (Neil from the Young Ones).
Great soundtrack and an easy watch, this was pretty popular when I watched this back in the day, but a lack of a DVD release, and little reruns kind of pushed this show into oblivion.
Who remembers this forgotten gem? Ive started watching this again after all these years and it holds up remarkably well.
Around the time of and in the same veign as " trigger happy t.v" and "balls of steel". I remember a programme of which the premise was an actor/character would turn up in someone's real life social situations and purposely act as annoying and disruptive as possible. The person/contestant had to go with whatever happened and convince the people around them that the actor was a genuine friend of theirs, if they got through the day they won a cash prize. Does this ring a bell with anyone, foes anyone remember the name of this show?
This must have been in or after 1992, but there was some quiz thing he was doing. Plays some clips of Sagrada Familia, Gaudi Architecture etc, with Freddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballe singing in the background.
Back to the studio.
"Aw, they cut it just before it got to my favourite bit - BARCELOOOOO NAAAAAAA!"
"Right, anyway. [Looks at his card] What city ..."
I remember the expression on his face being priceless.
Must have been live, so I'm thinking Going Live or similar. Anyone?
They don't make silly, irreverent sketch show comedy which doesn't take itself seriously anymore.
It's taken me 2+ years to track all this down in charity shops, amazon, etc. Loving the adventure :)
