Their most well known show, Bottom, was a British sitcom television series that originally aired on BBC2 between 1991 and 1995. It was written by and starred comic duo Ade Edmondson and Rik Mayall as Eddie and Richie, two flatmates who live on the dole in Hammersmith, London. The programme ran for three series, and was followed by five stage-show tours across the United Kingdom between 1993 and 2003 and a feature film, Guest House Paradiso. The show is noted for its chaotic, nihilistic humour and violent comedy slapstick.

While you're alone in the flat.
Hey, so I was born in 89 and a staple of my childhood was Drop Dead Fred. I’ve seen bits and pieces of Riks work outside of that movie but nothing substantial. What do you recommend I start watching and any tips on where to watch? Thanks sorry if this has been asked before.
to shove loads and loads of paper down the toilet.
This a guine pic. I've kept it for this moment. Not exactly E&R but Young Ones non the less. I was doing a genuine word search...
Hi there. Big fan of the show. I remember coming across a meme of some sorts regarding the show.
It was Steamed hams from The Simpsons however it was dubbed by a guy doing impressions of Richie and Eddie as stand-ins for Skinner and Chalmers. It was surprisingly high-quality and the impressions were spot-on.
However, I can't seem to find it anywhere no matter what I search for. If anyone can help me find it, please do. I'd be grateful for it. I'm scared in case it's lost media.
It’s a great name…….
I was thinking, most of the show is either slapstick, wordplay, gross out, and just general hilarity; but what moment comes the closest to being serious or deliberately non-humorous? I think maybe in the episode Hole, they do a good job of making it seem like they’re literally clinging on for life but still manage to keep things non serious and funny. Even with Richie sticking his head in the oven is somehow still just hilarious
Here’s mine
Hole
S’Out
Culture
Burglary
Digger
Word to the wise Son.......stay away from those gingers, it's a mess down there. 😂
I've always thought this. Series 1 had Gas and Apocalypse. Series 2 had Culture and Holy. Classic, classic Bottom episodes. However for me, series 3 was the holy grail.
Hole is just gag after gag after gag after gag and it steamrollers you so hard with relentless brilliance that you wonder what the fuck you just watched.
Terror has the iconic costumes.
Break... (okay fair enough if this is somehow deemed the weakest of the 6 but it still contains an incredible amount of very funny physical humour!)
Dough is genius. And the line about Sylvester Stallone fisting Mr. McHenry from the Magic Roundabout would never have been passed for series 1. I still laugh when I hear Dick Head saying that, even when I'm just hearing it in my mind lol...
Finger - again, genius. The cricket convo, the Welsh gag, the car journey, Eddie(weena) and the Marveloso Splendido Hotelo. I watched this just the other day and I had tears of laughter rolling down my face.
Carnival - amazing ending. The prime minister bit alone is legendary. Also, KillROY!!!
Comedy is of course subjective, so I don't expect everyone to agree. But I still believe that series 3 was the closest Rik and Ade came to nailing a 10/10 on every single episode. 🤘🏻
By PUA I mean pick-up artist. I have on rare occasions seen them in the wild but whenever I see a skeezy guy try it on with me I think of all the times Richie and Eddie have tried it on too. My only regret is I have never got one to say 'what a smashing blouse you have'.
Anyone else?
Rik in Man Down was just a piece of genius casting. Totally believable as the father of Dan, and there were so many moments that highlighted the breadth of Rik's acting abilities. I'll never forget howling at the story he told Dan of his ex girlfriend who he adored so much. 😂
Never a truer word spoken, everybody loved him and he loved everyone. Sorely missed.
