Hey everyone! I’m planning to watch a marathon in person in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn and have a question. I want to ride my bike there from Crown Heights but haven’t found information on biking to the event. Can I bring a bike to watch the marathon?
Is it closed for the marathon as well?
Has anyone noticed delivery cyclists on e-bikes riding recklessly on GWB around 3 pm every Saturday? Just today, I saw about 3-4 dozen of them on the bridge. They were riding in both lanes of the ramps on the NJ side, riding dangerously fast for the conditions at the pinch points and passing dangerously without regard for other cyclists or pedestrians.
One of them took out a Citibike rider in the oncoming lane by passing dangerously while another caused a mom with a little kid to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit.
I am not sure who they work for, but a few had DoorDash bags and at least one of them confirmed that he was working for DoorDash. He said that they were trying to get shifts in NJ because they pay better than the ones in NYC.
This isn't a brand new feature, but something I've found really helpful and seemingly not widely known. With a few steps, you can add a Citi Bike widget to your iOS lock screen and it will immediately open the QR scanner to unlock a bike (example from my phone).
You can follow Apple's instructions to add any widget, just make sure you select the Citi Bike one (example from my phone).
After seeing a recent post where someone left their keys in the Citi Bike lock, I was inspired to share this tip because I feel like this is basically a key replacement (i.e. very fast unlock).
Happy riding!
Recorded this while cycling through Van Cortland park the other day.
Awesome ride in Van Cortland today. Greenway is closed towards the end of the west side highway but very accessible from the city.
Does anyone know if you have to be a member to do Rapha’s rookie rides?
There’s one tomorrow that I’m hoping to attend, but I’m new to this.
They set up a tent. I passed it yesterday in my rush home but swung by today. I scanned the QR code to get to this survey:

It's basically asking which half you prefer and for your reasoning. Pretty quick to answer and add your thoughts.
Figured I'd drop it here for those who won't stop.
I asked to remove stop lights. Remove the car lane, keep pedestrians on one side of the bikes, remove traffic lights, and add raised pedestrian crossings with greater yield indicators.
Help deciding who to vote for and want to include who is the most cyclist friendly into consideration. The ballot: https://vote.nyc/sites/default/files/pdf/candidates/2024/9_20_2024_2_12_46_PM_Contest_List.pdf
First of thank you, fellow nyc redditers, for helping me gain confidence in finally owning a bike per my previous post.
Aside from locks, bike lights and a helmet, what else should I consider buying?
Ideally low traffic volume...nice area to ride...could go west down a street and then east back up another street. Just looking for ideas.
does anyone know why google maps never routes me on the prospect park west two way bike lane? especially going north. it will suggest going into prospect park or on 7th / 6th 5th ave when it seems to me the most direct route is on PPW. does google not know this bike lane exists ?
Just wanted to show my appreciation to DOT, which were extremely quick to respond to my 311 request for new flexi-posts that had been missing for over a year.
Sometimes it's good to ask and report even the small things. I think this might encourage me to report when bike lanes are missing flexi posts or the paint is incomplete, or the traffic calming "bumps" have been destroyed. I think the more we report these the better our infrastructure will be. It may also force the DOT to use more permanent materials so that they aren't stuck constantly replacing the cheap stuff.
The dreaded stolen bike post 😭 my bike was stolen from in the middle of the day. Locked it up for work this morning and gone when I was done. Last seen 10/30 on 99th and Madison. Filed a report with the hospital and waiting on NYPD now but any leads are greatly appreciated. I just want by baby back
Between 35th and 34th 9th Ave
I’ll be staying in Manhattan for a few days. I want to ride a city bike on a nice route. Any recommendations? Thanks!
