Hi yall. New to the whole Michigan fishing thing here. PM by tippy or Muskegon by croton? What’s a .. less crazier choice to make? Welcoming all suggestions and advice.
Thank you!
Good morning everyone! I’m taking a trip to Grand Rapids during March and was looking at some nearby spots to wade and fish. Buck Creek looked like a decent spot to wade shallower waters. Not looking to target anything specific, just wetting a line.
I’ve never fished in the winter before, I understand that it’ll be difficult but I wanna keep working on my techniques in the off season.
So that brings me to ask, how would I go about on shore fishing during the winter time? Anything specific I should be using? I’ve been using some fairly heavy sinkers with some soft plastics using a drop shot style rig?
I also recently got an inflatable kayak but it’s probably too cold to go down into the water now no? For reference, the nearest lake to me is Kent Lake.
Thanks in advance!
Hello!
I live on the east side of Michigan but thought it might be fun to head to the west side (Grand Haven) for the weekend. Has anyone had any luck on the pier there lately or any advice?
I know it will be a very cold weekend but if anyone is around, feel free to say hello. I am a little bit new to the fishing community but I'm excited to learn and meet new friends.
Tight lines, y'all.

Hi, I created a blog post with some Michigan Winter activities, and guides!
Mostly gonna be bobber fishing with eggs and beads. Also throwing aome spinners to change it up. Mostly wondering, where the heck are the fish and how to find em 😂
Anyone know good spots around or near Kent Lake for shore fishing this time of year? I don’t have the space or money for a kayak right now so I always fish on the shore in general but lately I haven’t had any luck in the cold.
I’ve tried Connor’s Bayou, Lake Wabasis and pigeon river. Any places in mind that are good for a canoe?
I'm new to fishing but my coworker is pretty good, we are here for a month but I'm not sure where or when to go fishing? Any good spots with bites right now? Preferably a lake, any info about the fish and bait to use would be awesome! Thanks!
Haven't been out in a couple months. Thinking about hitting Kensington today. Is it worth it? If so, what should I throw?
Those who do Muskegon for whitefish, what’s your experience on water temperature vs photoperiod for the run? I haven’t been in a few years, and of course the last few have been warmer so it didn’t sound like there was a definitive run to speak of like the good times. I’d like to plan a weekend this year and am debating same-old timing, but also considering should I wait presuming water temps are going to drop slower this year. What are your thoughts?
What are some good baits for lake sturgeon, I know gizzard Shad work rlly well but nobody sells them. Are the preserved gizzard Shad from magic any good? Also would yellow perch work well?
I'll be up at Crystal Mountain (south of Traverse City) for three days coming up here.
I want to throw my gear in my car and do some fishing. What kind of fishing should I be targeting? I can get to the lake shore pretty easy.
this is my first season fishing for steelhead and I wanted to ask about general tips for steelhead fishing, books series or any good information on catching great lakes steelhead, the best spots to fish around GR and Ada, and I also wanted to ask if the 6th street damm is safe for a 15 year old to fish (I've heard a lot of negative stuff about the area around the dam) some additional information. I Primarily use a spinning rod but know how to flyfish, and I have a boat I might be able to use a few times throughout the runs.
Never been fishing there and wanted to give it a go. If anyone is willing to DM me some advice, I would really appreciate it.
Anyone still getting salmon in the rivers on the west side of the state?
