Gold & Silver not Legal Tender in Michigan? Should we change this? What do you think?

I was surto learn that there are no laws on the books in this State that state Gold/Silver as legal tender.

I looked into it and there are like 23 other states where Gold and/or Silver is legal tender.

I think it would be a great thing if we were to get a law on the books making gold/silver legal tender-- then we could have stuff lile Michigan Goldbacks (if you aren't familiar they are basically dollar bills made if gold that exist in a few states) which would be super cool.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

What is the status of the job market in West Michigan in late 2024?

Include cities such as Traverse City, Manistee, Ludington, Muskegon, Grand Haven, Holland, South Haven, and Saint Joseph.

Looking to see if my calculations are correct and hear what others who live along the shoreline believe about the job market

Absentee Ballot mistake: how to fix

Hi all,

I’m an absentee voter.

I filled out the wrong oval for some of the sections.

Is there anyway to cross out and fill the oval next to the candidate I wanted? Is there a specific way to go about this?

I’m in the Geneseee county (currently in Illinois though)

Pls let me know!!

NON-POLITICAL Question regarding the election:

What do you think the environmental impact is of the presidential election? Think of how many plastic yard signs there are and how many fliers you've gotten in the mail. I mean it may be worse here because we are a "swing" state...

From a Californian

I grew up in California for 21 years, and moved to Michigan last year for family. I get asked constantly (by constantly I mean every. Single. Person.) by people from Michigan why I moved here. I will say "for family" and that answer is not good enough for a lot of people. They'll press and still go "yeah but our state sucks", "the weathers horrible", "California weather is great" (most of these people haven't been to California, and truth be told no the weather is not great it's 90 degrees during almost every season and in summer well over 100) I've started feeling like I have to explain myself, "I like cold weather" "I want to see the world" "I wanted a new environment" but I shouldn't have to share those things with strangers or anyone to be honest. I get that it's some people's dream to live in California but it's not everyone's dream. It's become a pet peeve of mine and I try to avoid telling people at all costs because I know that for the next ten minutes I'm going to hear a bunch of Michigan slander and great things about California, meanwhile I'm not sure how to even respond like "you're right this state sucks I'm going back to California" no lol I left for a reason. Everyone that moves from their home state has a reason. We know there's great things out there, we lived those experiences. There's great things about Michigan it really has become a negative conversation I avoid because I get homesick, don't feel good about the bad things people say about Michigan (like am I supposed to agree?) and puts me in an awkward position to respond.

Last Two Days to Vote Early! Today (Saturday) and Tomorrow (Sunday)

Saturday and Sunday are the Last two days that you can vote early in Michigan. For many locations the voting hours are between 9-4:30 or 9-5 each day, but the individual hours near you may vary (Check the link below).

If you are not registered - you can still register and vote! However, you can't do it at just any early voting site. You must go to the to your city or county Clerk's Office.

Since this Subreddit doesn't allow links in the main post, the links to find your early voting site (and hours), as well as your Clerk's office (and hours), and other information, are below.

Very suspicious plastic wrapped voting letter today.

It was wrapped in plastic and the window allowed me to see it was regarding voting registration for "Kim wu" or something like that. I've gotten mail for past residents before but not this person. I threw it out. It seemed like they wanted me to open it out of anger that a chinese person used my address to vote, but could be poisoned for all I know. Why the plastic wrap? Did anyone get this in the mail? What did it say if you opened it? There were actually two of them.

Rural campaign signs

I definitely feel like there are more democratic (harris) signs this campaign than the last few in my area. SE/CENTRAL. Maybe a few more on the republican side. What about the rest of the state.

October seemed a lot Sunnier than usual in Michigan

We can all aggree this October was warmer than usual, but did anyone notice that October was very sunny compared to normal Octobers? At least here in the UP.

By now Lake Effect Clouds take over the state keeping the sky gray for months, but I noticed October was pleasantly sunny. And as someone who deals with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), it was nice to have the blue sky. Anyone else notice? Not sure if there's any reasons behind this.

Sharpshooter on top of UAW in Taylor

Driving down Telegraph I saw a sharpshooter on top of the UAW building along with lots of state police and Taylor police all around the outside. Is this a HarrisWalz rally?
