I need to up my travel backpack game for an upcoming business trip and I am stuck in some serious analysis paralysis. I have been using a Mystery Ranch Urban Assault bag, but there is no organization and it doesn't look great in the business environment. I'm not a consultant, but I want to look professionalish.
I am looking for this bag to be my personal item for the plane, so it needs to have decent organization for all the usual travel plane stuff like iPad, headphones, book, chargers/cables, laptop(17 inch), snack etc. I'll be using this bag for car and plane travel, so I'd like it not just be a giant black hole.
When I get to my destination it will be doubling as my work bag and day pack. So I also need space for some notebooks, pens, pencil etc.
I have an early version of an Aer travel pack, but it is just a little too large.
So far I am considering
Black Ember Citadel 25 - I like the idea of this one, but it seems like it may be overkill
Evergoods CPL 24
Tom Bihn Synik 22 - This is probably the best, but it isn't aesthetically pleasing
Aer Flightpack - Possibly too small
Bellroy Venture Ready - Read some reviews about poor quality
Tortuga Laptop Travel
Able Carry Daily plus
Knack Series 1
Any suggestions?
Anybody on this sub have this combo? Would the kindle fit into the pocket? I am mainly concerned about the width: 4.33in of the pocket vs. 4.3in of the kindle.
Because all of these “backpack reviewers” are photographers/videographers by the nature of the job
It’s a really good backpack for a “backpack reviewer”
Hello, Im after a laptop bag that can hold my 14" MBP and 13" ipad with a rugged case. I have a backpack that i use 80% of the time, but theres times where i only need a laptop bag and these two devices. I may also need to hold chargers and a power bank. Not fussed on budget, it just needs to work for me, so any advice would be great. So far the extent of my search is the bellroy Tokyo Work Bag, but feel this is too big, so many more like the Via Work Bag.
Does anyone put their sling into a backpack? If so, what is the experience like and would you recommend it? If not, do you take your backpack everywhere?
The backpack I want would only be for “writing” and would carry a 14” MacBook, an A5 notebook, and an 18 oz Yeti rambler. I’m worried that carrying even a small backpack would look out of place when dining out with my family, even after removing my MacBook and Yeti rambler to solely carry my edc (think morning breakfast at a Cracker Barrel).
So that’s why I’m considering using a sling to put my edc instead so that it is less noticeable when dining out. Then, I could just throw the sling in the backpack when wanting to take my laptop somewhere.
Here is my edc:
The backpack I’m considering is either an Evergoods CPL 16 or Aer Tech Pack 3.
I have no idea what sling to get or if the experience of putting my sling in my backpack and digging for my keys each time would be a horrible experience. Tell me what to do Uncle Iroh, you’re my only hope.
I'm looking to buy the 18L Verte bag from Gregory, in the Black ("Carbon") color, and in a S/M sizing (not the M/L size). This one:
Gregory is all out of them, and I can't seem to find them on the usual sites I would check and/or basic Google searching.
Any chance someone knows where I could buy one? Happy to buy new and/or gently used.
Thanks!
My Nixon Traps is in due for replacement due to extensive use. I'm looking for recommendations for a similarly red coloured backpack (could be brighter) that has clamshell opening(or at least more than a half-zip). 25-30L preferred😊 would anyone have any ideas?
Hello!
So, I have a nice Charriot hard suitcase with 1/4 wheels broken. I've scoured the internet off and on for a few days trying to pin down an accurate replacement. I tried contacting the company but they, I guess, no longer exist?
Has anyone had good luck in replacing Charriot parts, or have suggestions on where to look beyond Amazon/Google?
Thank you!
Anybody here has this backpack? I can’t seem to find any proper review about it. If any owner here, please let me know the pros and cons. Thanks.
Porter(Yoshida) is my favorite bag company hands down.
Hey everyone!
My wife was laid off 6 months ago and after many applications and interviews she finally got a new job that is a good fit for her, pays well and is at a good company. I am incredibly proud of her and want to get her a nice work bag to celebrate her going back to the office. Also since this is an in-office job and not WFH, I want the bag to be classy looking but also highly functional as she commutes via public transit.
Ideally what I am looking for is something that looks like the bellroy Tokyo tote but made with leather or coated nylon as she's not a fan of the woven technical fabrics (she thinks all my backpacks are too techy haha)
Here's a list of things she would carry daily:
Some hard requirements:
My budget is up to 200EUR and availability in EU would be ideal.
Thank you so much!
I feel like I just got out of a rabbit hole looking for a true edc crossbody sling and I settled on the Bellroy Lite Mini 4L. I'm realizing that I feel like I could use an inbetweener sling specifically for days where I want to also carry a water bottle and tablet. Mostly it'd be for church, as I volunteer on the tech team as well as play in the band so I usually am bringing my tablet (Samsung Tab S7 but in a case that includes the pen so it's a little wider), over ear headphones for mixing (Beyerdynamic DT770), a 24oz water bottle and snacks for the morning (it's like a 6 hour time commitment). That's pretty much it.
Currently that all has to fit in a larger backpack which I don't like carrying for so few things. My ideal sling size is actually my Lowepro Streamline camera sling. Fits everything great other than my headphones, plus it has a nonremovable camera compartment that gets in the way and I don't love the greenish gray color. But I'd love something that size that's just a bit more open.
I picked up the Patagonia Atom 8L but my tablet didn't fit inside with its case, and neither did the headphones. Also the giant Patagonia logo wasn't great.
My current lead is the Tomtoc Navigator T24, probably the 5l but maybe the 7l would fit the headphones better. I'm really not a fan or their branding. My preference would be a clean black fave with very minimal branding.
Any suggestions for a sling in the 6-10L range that can fit all that? It'd double as a minimal "diaper bag" when I go out solo with one of my two young kids. Basically holding an extra water bottle and snacks for them, wipes, change of clothes etc. But any bag should work for that (no tablet or headphones during that time which opens up space)
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
EDIT: Realizing I didn't post a budget, sorry. Since this will be supplementary to my EDC bag and my dedicated backpack, I'd like to keep this super budget friendly in the $50-60 range. 🙏
Get this or go for Alpaka tech sling case mini/flight sling axoflux ?
I've been using an IBEX 30 for adventuring, travel, work, ect ect for 7 years now and it's been great to me, and has head up excellent over time, It's so good that my wife asked me to get her one as well. Since it's been a while I figure there's probably some new products that are even better and I'm looking for recommendations for a similar pack that would be an upgrade. My budget is around $200 and what I like and dislike about the ibex are:
Likes: 30 liters, zipper goes all around and to the bottom of the bag, nice padding on the back, no laptop pocket
Dislikes: It's pretty ugly, never found a use for the molle panels, no exterior water bottle holder,
https://vcoregon.com/products/chrome-pike-pack
I just love the cadaver opening style and the square compactness of the backpack.
I know the closest I'll get is probably a Mystery Ranch Urban Assault but I'm just hoping there's something closer to this out there.
First time posting here, thought I would see if anyone who owns the Bravo sling mini v2 enjoys it or hates it. I don't see very many reviews on it, but I do see a lot on the first version and it seems a mixed bag, mostly leaning towards the " it tapers to much at the bottom". What are some good alternatives that aren't to bulky? I will mostly be using it to get stuff out of my pockets and carry things like diapers and snacks for my little girls. Thanks on advance.
Anyone replace their sternum strap on the ULA Ultra Dragonfly with a fidlock buckle? If so what did you use? TIA
Hi! I've been on the hunt for my perfect daily commute backpack.
The main thing I'm looking for is an easy access front pouch where I could quickly put in and pull out a book (I read on the train, and kinda need to do that a lot as I switch train etc...).
I'd rather have it on the smaller side, I'm only carrying a lunchbox, a water bottle, book, phone and keys.
The closest I've found is the Osprey Daylite Plus. That front pouch looks to be exactly what I need, but there are 2 things holding me from pulling the trigger. I think it looks just ok, not great (I'm vain), and also no strap keeper, and as a short guy, dangly bits are super annoying.
Would anyone please have any idea on an alternative?
I realise this is probably impossible but here goes. I'm currnently using a Sandqvist Tyre (12L) backback for work which I really like but with the (limited) amount of stuff I need for my daily commute it's heavier than I would like.
I've been looking for something a little smaller (ideally) and (definitely) lighter. The bag weighs about 1kg empty and when filled with my daily carry, which includes a 14" laptop, is about 4kg. Nothing terrible but too much for a messenger/handled bag (I have tennis elbow which means not using a backpack is uncomfortable).
I'm looking ideally for a lighter laptop bag which will take the laptop, small brolley, scrunched up jacket, airpods, keys, tissues, hand gel, folded up reusable coffee cup, mouse and occasionally a USB-C charger.
I'm currently considering an Osprey Arcane Small which I like (looks ok, saves about 0.5kg on the weight, takes all my gear). Downsides are not waterproof (probably would be OK with some waterproofing spray for my commute which is a total of about 30 mins each way not undercover). Packhacker review also says straps can be uncomfortable but I'm lucky that my commute involves around 20 mins walking each way which isn't much of a problem.
Nearest smart-ish (no loud/camouflage colours/logos) alternative I've found are the Alpaka Metro and Able Carry 13. Both are fine looks wise but either larger than the Sanqvist or don't save very much weight (something like 0.25 kg isn't really enough to make a difference).
I did look at the Osprey Daylite (not the plus) but there's not enough padding for the laptop.
Solution needs to be available in the UK (bonus points for Amazon who have a great return policy) or somewhere I can see the bag in person in London).
Feel free to use this referral code for first time buyers. They make excellent bags, totes, cases, slings, etc.
I know I said simple but my search was everything but simple. (Sorry in advance for my English) I’m looking for a smallish sling that will fit an iPad 11 inch with a separate slot, one or two small notebooks, maybe on rare occasions a small lunch box and the usual EDC(water bottle, chargers). From my search I found the peak design everyday sling 6L, black ember grip sling and aer tech sling 3.
I like the peak design but think it might be too small, the aer sling looks too big and it’s hard to find reviews on the black ember.
Maybe someone here has experience with the slings or could give other recommendations?
