I love that album so much I want shirts for it anyone know where good quality ones
i'm sure this beat is from a mfdoom song, but i cant remember which one, this is the video
Whether it be punchlines/wordplay/entendres/metaphors, deep lines, or just very hard hitting lines, what are some of your guys favorite lines by DOOM?
So my friend has never listened to MFDOOM and he asked me what song he should listen to first what should I tell him, and I’ll let you guys know what he thinks.
Update: He said he’s a yap rapper who talks to much and should actually rap to his beats
DOOM has dropped some of the best beats of all time consistently, whether he kept them as instrumentals or ended up using them in his own songs they are some of the most diverse, unique and best beats ever. He gets constantly sampled too.
DOOM should be considered as a producer the same way he is considered as a top tier rapper. Top tier producer too.
Thought it interesting enough to post here.
Video went up a year ago and only has 97 views.
I checked and it’s on Spotify as well.
Without cheating (not deliberately googling the source) what are some not so well known or obvious DOOM samples (both musically and vocal/audio TV/film samples) that you’ve accidentally stumbled upon? I’m sure it happens to all real DOOM fans even after decades of listening to and memorizing bar for bar of most or all his song. His knowledge is vast and his samples and references are sometimes obscure to younger generations, so discovering a source of one or some is bound to happen. It’s a gratifying experience for us real fans lol
Like any genius work or piece of art/music or even a good book, no matter how many times you read it, you always catch something new that you missed before or finally make sense of some obscure but clever references you weren’t familiar with before.
DOOMS genius, like his personality had many faces and sides to it. Apart from his amazing lyrical and musical production abilities, he also had an encyclopedic knowledge of media(TV, films, music) and popular culture in general. He Even studied his history and “whoever don’t”, he “pitied the fool, like MR. T”
I’ll start it off in the comments with one example of many that I’ve came across after becoming a huge fan of Golden era Hollywood films, especially Pre Code Gangster films and Film Noirs, which I’m sure DOOM was somewhat familiar with
