LIC, in Queens is one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in the country. It is not the same as Long Island, although it's on the same island.

If anyone sees it on the ground, please let me know. I entered the Court Square Subway near the Altice building, former Citi building. $20 reward.
I just walked past it and all the lights are off and the inside looks disassembled. Google is saying they're temporarily closed but things looks permanent on there. Anyone else know what's going on?
Has anyone stayed at the apartment building & do you have any feedback on management efficiency, lease break, overall experience?
Long Island is always full of surprises, what's the weirdest, funniest, or most unexpected thing you've ever seen happen here
Feel free to share some crazy stories ;)
Hey everyone! I’m looking for a great esthetician or facialist in Long Island City, but I’m open to anywhere in Queens for facials, peels, and other treatments. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Hi! I’m moving to a building on crescent and 41st ave this weekend. This may be a long shot but I’m looking to see if there is anyone who may be moving and wants to get rid of their furniture nearby that I could take/buy!
Preferably looking for a mattress/bedframe (full or queen), floor lamp, nightstands, and a chair. Prefer that these items have been used less than 1 year and that you are close enough that I can haul the items back by foot.
Let me know! Thanks
Anyone know what's going on with it? It looks like nothing has been done since they put the sign up. It seems like it's still months away from opening.
Hi all, I’m looking to transfer my gym membership at powerhouse if anyone is interested. It’s $55/month for a year, and it goes until September. I believe you get the same price if you renew despite the current price being more expense. Lmk!

Hi new to the area! Good coffee evenjng hours lots of seating? Thanks :)
Super last minute (as it is pretty much today lol) but it's the first time I'm spending CNY alone as my family is overseas at the moment. If anyone is in the same boat as me and would want to do a potluck tonight or get together for some food let me know!!
The woman who has been cleaning my apartment twice a month for two years is fantastic, and I’d love to help her get more clients. She charges $35/hour and typically takes 2.5 hours on my studio apartment. If you’re interested, comment here or shoot me a DM.
Does anyone know the prices for Alice nails? We've been eyeing that place for awhile.
Where should I send my wife to get her nails done? She needs tips with gel.
Just moved near Queens Plaza. City Acres is crazy expensive (see the recent post on it), but it seems like the only feasible option unless I want to hike all the way to Target. What do you do for groceries?
Hi all - I’m signing a new lease for my studio, but I may have to leave to FL in the summer. Any experience into how difficult it’d be to find a new tenant on my own to take it over? It’s a decent size studio < 3k on a tall building
Hi LIC, anyone have a good rec for a grocery store or market where I can buy pork shoulder? Preferably a little more on the affordable side if that’s possible. Thanks!
Has anyone else had an issue with this recently? Both times my husband went in and didn’t end up buying anything- because that store is annoyingly expensive and doesn’t put price labels on half their food.
The first time the guy chased him out onto the street and demanded to see in his pockets. The second time, the security guy at the front of the store wouldn’t let him leave until he showed his pockets. Both times they were empty of course. (Weirdly, he also had his backpack and they didn’t ask to see in there at all?)
We’ve lived in the area for 3 and a half years and we used to go to City Acres a lot before the Target opened up. Has anything changed? Are they experiencing a rash of super expensive stolen items that fit into a front hoodie pocket?
Does anyone know where the cats that used to live in Murray Park are? I hope they’re safe and warm.
I have just about had it with the constant noise from the hydraulic drill breaking through bedrock across from the Bevel in Queensboro plaza. When the noise was detected on my baby monitor I decided to reach out to our district 46 office (who can file a complaint with the DEP), they were super helpful and provided the following update for anyone interested:
“After reaching out to the DEP, they mentioned there has been numerous 311 complaints for construction at this address (12/10, 10/29, 10/22, 10/11, 9/13). Each time they had an inspector visit the site, they performed a Sound Meter test and they found the noise to be within the allowed limit as well the sites noise mitigation plan being valid. On each occasion, their inspectors did not observe any unreasonable noise and witnessed no NYC Noise Control Code violation. In addition, their inspector’s spoke to the sites foreman and advised each time on the NYC Noise code.
Based on the details of the last visit on 12/10/2024, the inspector noted that the foreman confirmed that his crews are almost done breaking bed rock at this site. I would also like to note that the last visit had a total 76dba with the reading being taken within 50 feet of the construction”
I’ve clocked 70dB inside my apartment so am doubtful these readings are super accurate, but here’s to hoping that the foreman was being honest in his confirmation that they are almost done breaking bedrock.

Anyone who lives in this building can attest to this, but the elevator situation is becoming unbearable. Only 4 elevator banks for 31 floors, one elevator has been out since October which leaves only 3 operable elevators. 2/3 of the working elevators are constantly breaking down. I've personally gotten stuck several times in the last 30 days. FDNY was here when I got back on Friday to rescue someone. Always long lines or wait times regardless of the time of day, obviously worse during rush hour.
I had strong hesitations moving into this building when I noticed only 4 elevators in this building, but of course things seem to work fine the first few months of a lease. I've also noticed elevators being an issue for the surrounding buildings when I was initially looking to move in (looking at you Avalon)
Anyone else dealing with this and got the management to respond properly? Assuming one can't break their lease early due to faulty and janky elevators? Definitely moving out as soon as possible.
