This is a subreddit for discussions surrounding the use of limes over lemons in all contexts.

Welcome to r/LimeMasterRace. Our rules apply, but also don't be a dick (too much). Obviously, limes are much better than lemons, and anybody giving the opposite opinion is WRONG.

I tried googling lemons v limes

(TLDR. Trying to find out which is the more popular fruit. Obviously we like limes more but is it actually the popular opinion? I'd like to hear about what you notice within your community)

... I was wondering in general which fruit is it that people generally prefer, as in which is more popular. For me, I could live with a bottle of lemon juice as substitute but I would never buy a bottle of lime juice... I would just give up on my idea without fresh lime. So I tried googling this question and only found out plenty about their similar health benefits and that people often wonder if limes are unripe lemons.... ok... Still, it doesn't answer my question. I'd like to think that people prefer limes but for some reason I think that lemons are just more popular. As a side note I work in a supermarket in Ireland that can be compared in some ways to a Wholefoods supermarket. Generally we sell plenty (as in loads) more lemons than limes, but I think it's a cultural thing and people here might be a little less familiar with limes or just never really thought about it. Also, I've not yet come across a key lime here so those are a thing I know nothing about. I also figure in certain cultures, certain fruits are more of a staple than others. Obviously posting this on this thread will yield a stronger favour towards limes, but has anyone out there thought about this or noticed any general preference within their own community? Is there anywhere else I can be looking or posting? Is there a lemon equivalent of thos page that I can be pointed to? Thanks everyone

When i was a kid I thought limes were lemons and lemons were sour oranges.

Basically the title. We had a lime plant in the backyard and my mom would be like "hey let's get some lemons" before picking some up so it wasn't until I was a teen that I discovered they were actually limes.

Anyone having issues locating Limehubs in Portland?

Hi Guys,

I’m a juicer (scooter charger) here in Portland, Oregon. Is anyone else having any issues finding locations to leave their fully charged Lime Scooters on their app? Two days ago 99.9 percent of all LimeHubs (places to leave your scooters once they are charged) disappeared and have yet to show back up.

It’s hard to deliver fully charged limes by 7 am when the app says there aren’t any in the Entire Portland Area.

Thanks,

Joshja

Peruvian limon sutil

Is this the same thing as the key lime? I tried it on ceviche and it was sublime. I've seen different opinions on the internet but the scientific name for the key lime: citrus aurantifolia (swingle) was also identified on one website as the same as that for limon sutil peruana.

Don't go grocery shopping often. Is 20 cents per lime a good price?? (Yes, I saw them, they looked like typical Limes)

Can we come together in unity????

I am tired of the violence and rhetoric that has driven a wedge between what was once two brothers-in-citrus. Can we not put aside our differences and accept that perhaps the lime and the lesser fruit each have their merits. And maybe it is through the two being together that ultimate citrus goodness is achieved. Source: made gin and tonic; added the fresh-squeezed juice of both a lime AND the lesser fruit, maybe drunk, maybe spewing heresies, maybe please forgive me friends.

Variegated Lime?

Is there such a thing as a variegated lime? I've had variegated lemons and I don't think that Limes should be giving up in this area of expansion. Can you imagine how cool it would be to have a lime with dark red striping on the skin or even in the flesh, kind of like a moro/blood orange? We should not let lemons get ahead of limes!!

I mean, the fruit/pulp of the fruit is pink, true. But the skin is a green stripe/yellow stripe mix. Are lemons really trying to convince the unwashed masses that they are limes somehow? I can't help but feel that this is a covert strike against limes the world over!
