The show had always valued physical aspects and gimmicks like rich vs poor concepts more than the player relationships. This season’s large cast doesn't help either. I hoped they would show some meaningful character interactions. It’s apparent quite a handful of players already know each other. So, it would be nice if their relationships were expanded upon more. The only context we get was a few lines of dialogue recalling their experience in other shows, like “I played with him in this other show where he betrayed me so I don’t like him.” Most of the scenes between the players that are shown are only relevant to the current game. At least in the earlier seasons, we had more screentime of the players just hanging out and chatting. For example, S1 had Yeonseung and Lee Nayoung’s basement adventures, or the mansion group’s drunk conversations and the girls constantly thirsting for Dex.

I was really looking forward to their Dongmin and Jinho’s friendly banter and dynamic once again. How disappointing they’re acting like they’ve never met before this. That goes for the rest of the cast too. The way it’s edited make the contestants feel cold and distant towards one another, who are only there to do a job. The long-awaited Genius trio reunion in episode 7 was underwhelming too.

Episode 5, Chungju man’s stunt showed the staff are basically hanging around the place. Which makes me wonder just how isolated the players in The Remained are. In S1, the basement players had to fold pizza boxes all day; and seeing how angry Lee Nayoung’s was after getting out makes me believe the basement players really were by themselves. In S2, at least the outside team could explore the island at their leisure. This season, they haven’t shown the players in the Remained doing much. That’s why I doubt the Remained players stay put for the whole day without doing anything. They crew members are probably hanging around like they do in the mansions.

Another problem I have is the amount of interference from the staff. In episode 1, Jinho losing the first challenge and ending up as one Remained team. In episode 5, we know Acau changed his mansion team, but the fact that he checked the basement 20 times like he was expecting someone to come pick him up. Or the raiding team just happened to be at the optimal spot to see the mansion team arrive back after kidnapping Acau. And why was no one surprised to see Acau, a player from the Mansion. Or maybe they did, but the show just cut it out since they don’t like to show important moments. In episode 6, what a coincidence The Genius trio picked to come out in the same round. “How did we end up here” my ass lol.

None of the new players really stand out. Dongmin back to his dictatorship tendencies. Kyungran seemed really timid and gun-shy, which is a shame. Yurisa being Yurisa. Would’ve loved to Park Jimin back as a player once again. Hazel Choi is a good addition, has both the looks and brains. I found it hilarious in the raid episode Siyoon just jumped on Xitsuh, even though it would’ve made no difference. Xitsuh is just the default guy to get physical with if you have to face someone. I think Dongmin and Sungbum could be the last two, like a repeat of the Genius 3 finale.

The 3.8GB TVING 1080p version has better bitrate, and this means that the outdoor/fast motion/etc. scenes are not as compressed/blurry/et cetera. But the usual 3.2GB 1080p F1RST version has a lower file size if you have an internet data cap or bandwidth limitations and such things.
