Custom metal sign for Christmas Present

Hello all,

I am working on Christmas present for my Dad and he loves these metal Boulevard signs. We have bought him the Tank 7 one, KC Bier co sign, and a few others.

My Dad is an avid home brewer and has come up with a few of his own “brands” of beer and I’d love to get him one of these metal signs with a custom logo featuring his beer.

I can handle the design for his brands I really just need a way to get a metal sign printed with the design. Does anyone have experience with anything like this?

Thanks!

Good therapist that accepts BCBS?

Hi I have been out of the therapy game after my last therapist stopped taking my insurance about a year ago. I am wanting and needing a therapist but have no idea where to look. I have blue cross blue shield and deal with depression anxiety adhd and chronic illness. Anyone have any leads, websites I can use or recommendations of their own therapist?

Dog trainers in/around OP?

We got our dog in Feb this year from a shelter and we love him, but it seems like he didn't get enough socialization early on. He's pretty reactive towards other dogs (not mean, just wayyyyy too excited, to the point where his actions are too aggressive, but without malice). We want to potentially look into finding some trainers to help with this--main issue is we just don't know other people with dogs, and even if we did, it's not like we can just use other people's dogs as our dog's personal socialization tool. We're hoping a trainer can help us navigate that and find solutions. We want to get an idea of options out there as well as costs. Thanks!

Vintage, Thrifted and Upcycled Flea Market Coming To Lenexa!

I posted yesterday but things are ever changing so now, here is the actual post for the flea market I am hosting!

This event will be at Foundry Church Gymnaiusm in Lenexa, KS at the address 8835 Lackman Rd, Lenexa, KS 66219. It will be on Saturday, November 23rd from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with set up from 11 to 12 and tear down from 4 to 5. All kinds of vendors are welcome, primarily we're wanting secondhand, thrifted or vintage vendors though!

A space will be $40, $45 if you need electricity. This is NOT a church affiliated event, so no need to worry about that! All are welcome to come out and shop, all are welcome to apply to be a vendor!

If you're interested, reach out for the vendor application form! I'll post the actual event flyer when we get closer to the day!

Where to watch early NFL game?

Hey Kansas City friends! I’m going to be in town next weekend and want to be able to watch the Panthers-Giants game that is being played in Germany. Kickoff would be 8:30am local time. Are there any good bars that would be open to watch at that time? Preferably somewhere close to the Plaza Westport area? Thanks

Mexican Restaurants -Staff and your vote

Just wanted to be a mouthpiece for those who do not have the possibility to express themselves for fear of deportation or repercussions. I know this may be taken negatively by many. But just an FYI, as a regular American Citizen many of us are nervous about the outcome of this Tuesday's election. However many employees and owners of Mexican restaurants are more nervous than ever.

You would never know it, they will smile as they take care of you, cook your food and focus on the service they provide as they serve you, but on the inside they are very worried about the outcome. It is not a secret many of those jobs ( working at restaurants either as cooks or staff) like many others are done by people who do not have proper residenship documents. What does that matter to you, you may ask yourself. Well those people are here to work, they have families which they support, kids who are legal citizens. With the threat of "the biggest deportation effort ever" and "deporting 20 million people" many of the people you see when you visit your favorite restaurant, people you most likely have known for years or months are under threat. Please take this into consideration, they are people who are trying to support their families, not rapists, murderers, psychopaths and whatever other description has been thrown on them. Every other group of people has bad apples, but to demonize people who cannot defend themselves is cowardly. I invite you to get to know a random employee from your favorite restaurant and ask them about their life journey to get here, you will learn a lot about the things we take for granted.

Anyways TL/DR please be conscious about your actions while you enjoy your Taco or burrito.

Does anyone remember a doughnut or Deli shop on a 42nd street somewhere in Kansa City?

The reason I am asking is because I am watching Zombie Bloodbath 2 by Todd Sheets and it was a film set there. I was wondering if it still around or where it was once located.

Busses on I-29 with police escort

Just saw about four Arrow busses going down I-29 sb at the 635 interchange. They had motorcycle and cruiser escorts, plus unmarked Suburbans. My wife and I made some speculation, but still curious

Fun dinner options in downtown?

I’m new to the city and have a friend visiting this weekend and want to take her someplace fun! Looking for a non super expensive, but nice/fun ambience where we can get a few cocktails. Preferable in or around downtown/crossroads. Also, any recommendations for bars afterward would be appreciated too! Thanks

Share your conspiracy theories/worst case scenarios for the week!

A relative just called us because he owed it to us to let us know what is going down this coming week and after, and precautions to take.

  • Communications will be disrupted - only reliable means of communication will be the Signal app.
  • Food, gas, medication will be hard to come by: stock up while you can.
  • We should look out for general unrest and insurrection.

What have you heard/read/been told by a very intense passer by, neighbor or relative? Share with the class!

(This can be a sensitive topic to some, be kind to each other - this is to make light of the week’s upcoming political event stress, not make us feel miserable)

I asked what to expect at the River Market Saturday . We got to experience this.

I was so glad I took my daughter to the River Market so she could see this. Big thanks to the people that organized it and to those that participated.

Specific bar recommendation

I moved here a few years ago from Saint Louis. My favorite bar back home was Royale - solid cocktails, good beer list, decent food, not too stuffy. Since I’ve been in the area I haven’t found a comparable spot - I also had kids one after another immediately upon arrival so I haven’t looked too hard.

What’s a similar place in KC? I’d love to post up, have a beer, read a book, do some light work, grab some food, and hang out.

Kansas - Elderly relative cannot care for herself - state resources?

I would love to get insight from others who have been in this situation.

I have a 68 year old aunt.

She is showing signs of dementia and is on dialysis for terminal kidney disease. She seems to be showing signs that she cannot care for herself. She is not complying with medical instructions and is skipping her dialysis appointments.

She lives alone in a "hoarder's house" that is unsanitary and it is getting close to where she really should not be living on her own. The police have been called by neighbors when they have heard her screaming from her house when she has fallen.

She has no relatives that live near her and none that are willing to step in and be a "care-giver".

She has full time employment, but has been on disability leave since June and likely will be terminated soon.

She has not applied for medicare yet and refuses to do so.

I guess my question is, what happens from here? Is there a point where "the state takes over". If she is not safe living on her own, but has no assets to provide for assisted living care, what happens?

Moving to KC? Looking for housing? Need help with local services? Ask here!

For best results include useful information so answers may be tailored to your particular situation like:

  • What's your budget?
  • What type of neighborhood do you desire?
  • Will you live alone, with a family, or seeking roommates?

This is also the thread to ask about local services like Internet access, taxes, titling and registration, public transportation, and community resources.

I just saw a shootout

Heard what I thought was gunshots, look out my window and then see someone shooting either into or out of a car (too far to tell, all I could see was the flash of the gun as it fired). Next thing I know they're getting chased off by the cops.

Love living downtown. Love hearing gunshots most nights. Love being scared to be here.

Will it ever stop?

I’ve been looking for a job for over a year now, to no avail.

I have a Bachelor’s government degree from KU & i’m applying for entry level jobs as much as I can for over a year now. Entry level administrative stuff. Never even an email back for the most part. I send cover letters. I simply need help. The worst mistake I made in college was not establishing solid connections to create job openings, or just not knowing someone personally with the ability to help me. I had to Doordash full time for a couple years during college due to health issues, & I’ve been working a low paying job this year just to get by, so I imagine these jobs aren’t helping me on my resume. Is there anyone with any kind of knowledge of companies hiring, hopefully within the bounds of a government degree (public/private sector, administrative work, something where I help people)?

Which one is considered the good price choppers?

I am an out of tower and I've been to two wildly different price choppers. So I figure I would just ask which one is the "good one"?
