Drove up past Smithsville and saw nothing ):
It’s on the north side of I-29 and looks like a distribution center.
I found it delightfully unusual to see a man drinking while riding a galloping horse at 63rd Street and Paseo. Is it even legal? I mean I don't want them to get in trouble or anything, just legit curious if there is a law against it. Is this a known character about town?
I’m in the market for a new vehicle, been looking through facebook marketplace and cars.com. I’ve never purchased a vehicle from a dealership so I’m not sure where to start. Looking for something used. My preference would be a GM 1500 (suv or truck), but I’m open to anything. Hoping you guys will have suggestions of places to look. Thank you.
Go Chiefs.

If you want to see color with the naked eye, you need to let your eyes adjust. I mean it!! Don’t look at your phone/screen for 10-15 minutes (if you really want vibrancy, an hour is even better!). You will not see color with the same vibrancy if you just walk outside your front door without giving your eyes time to adjust to the low light. For taking pictures after you’ve watched for awhile, adjust your phone settings to night mode. On the iPhone: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/take-night-mode-photos-iph1a3c5b4c3/ios
Wife and I moved here from the west coast because we wanted to be able to buy a house, build equity etc. We both found great jobs, with great benefits, own a beautiful home but we are bored OUT OF OUR MINDS. We used to live in a place where we were 45 minutes from the mountains, 10 minutes from the beach, there were parks galore and free, outdoor things to do all year round because of the mild-ish climate. Well, we have gotten to the point where we don’t look forward to the weekends because there isn’t a damn thing to do except go out to eat, drink, or go to sporting events or concerts. We don’t drink and my wife has celiac so we are limited on food choices. We go to the farmers market but that gets old and feel like all we ever do is go out to eat because we have nothing else to do and we don’t like to do that often because we don’t want to spend too much money. Just wondering if there’s anyone else out there that feels this way. I understand this is long, drawn out and negative but this is a slump we just haven’t been able to get out of for like 3-4 months. #bored
Does anyone know of a bar or other location that will show the Usyk/Fury fight on May 18 in KC? Thanks!
Missed out yesterday cuz I was too tired. Any ideas on where a good spot to try and get to tonight to see it? I’m in south KCK and didn’t see anything last night outside my house but we have lots of trees and are at a low spot.
Wondering the sort of culture in Kansas/Missouri...I am from the mid-atlantic/east coast, and I know we have a reputation for seeming cold and unfriendly. What I have come to realize is that we just keep our heads down and maybe we don't say hello to random folks on the street, but we will help people out and support our communities and we are kind people. We also don't tend to do the fake polite thing. Like, I'm not going to ask you to hang out or do something if I have no intention.
I've heard of "Midwestern nice" and I admit I'm a bit hesitant. I am looking to move to Kansas City and i would like to make friends, but is the "Midwestern nice" something I need to take into consideration? I sort of fear really being authentic but then people just being polite to my face but nothing else, because that makes me introvert myself, which I don't want to do.
Of course I'm generalizing here about regional but I'm just trying to have a better idea what I'm going into. I experienced some culture shock when I moved to Denver, but that's also a more transient area.
Crazy out their today and potentially even more from tonight :)
For those who were witness to the police chase Friday afternoon by the Plaza and along Madison/Belleview Ave and also the north and south lanes of Ward Parkway. I just want you to know that shit was crazy and if you got home only to be met with skeptical friends/family listening to your tale of how wild and dangerous that situation was, then I got your back. Because it was bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
I was driving south on Belleview when I noticed a police car on Ward turned onto Belleview and started hauling ass north, into southbound traffic. At this point, I was near the Polsinelli law firm building. Traffic pretty much ground to a halt and there was an old accord coupe weaving its way up Belleview in between cars with KCPD on its ass. That dude swerved right in front of me and bounced into a parking lot and disappeared from sight.
Traffic slowly started moving again and a bunch of us treated the light at Belleview and 48^(th) as a stop sign because we were expecting the runaway driver to reappear.
After turning onto to southbound Ward Pkwy, I got close to the light at Westwood Road/50^(th) street when the guy on the run/fugitive whipped his shitty Accord around the median crossing and (again) started driving into oncoming traffic. Gentle reader, it has been less than a minute since this idiot disappeared from my sight back on Belleview. He must’ve been driving the wrong way on Roanoke/Madison and then he definitely was going south into oncoming, northbound traffic on Ward Parkway because he reappeared at the median where Rockwell becomes Westwood/50^(th) street.
His car was now a cloud of smoke and ostensibly has died and is now nonfunctional because he gets out of the car and starts frantically trying to steal a new ride. He gets to the SUV in front of me and knowing that I was likely his next carjacking attempt, I just whipped a hard right near Holly Street, but I’m not quite at Holly street, so if you saw a black SUV doing the most as it drove over curbs and grass, well that was me. In my rear view, I saw the guy was now trying to get into a white car. At this point, there are no cops. I did not see any police cars approaching.
So, if at some point, on Friday afternoon around 4:30 pm, you noticed a crappy Accord abandoned on Ward Pwky (facing the wrong way) well this is part of the story as to how it got there.
Thanks for reading. Stay safe out there. This was my THIRD experience in the same week with someone driving the WRONG way towards me.
My partner and I love watching the birds at our feeders, but after reading THIS NPR ARTICLE, I would love to take my binoculars and go out to a public space and do some birdwatching. Where do y'all recommend?
FYI, I am in the Parkville / Riverside area. I would especially love to see some bluebirds as I have only seen them in the wild a couple of times.
So i always save these but they can’t be recycled. The recycling centers would sometimes still take them and I guess pass them along to someone who would use them but they don’t anymore. What can I do with these instead of throwing them away?
Looking for recommendations on places to go or things to do tomorrow that would avoid reminders about Mother's day? This is my wife's first mother's day without her mom and looking for a distraction during the day that won't have a bunch of happy families or specials geared to moms. Ordinarily I might consider a brewery but I know even several of those are having specials. She's been having a hard time as the day approaches and I'm just looking to make the best of what is going a tough day. Appreciate your ideas!
Does anyone know areas in KC where you can haul a truck load of limbs and brush to drop off? I cleaned up bushes and oak tree limbs and want to take them somewhere if the price is reasonable. I called a tree place and they were going to charge me $180 for a 6x6x4’ pile. I guess that is their minimum. I am fine loading them and hauling away. I am in the OP/PV area.
Hello!
I am working on a conversion build and am wondering if there’s anyone locally that could be paid for guidance or for the help that has done this before or has some more experience.
I looked on Google but there wasn’t really anything that seemed to be exactly what I was looking for as I’m near the end of this build.
Current setup
Starter Charger Aux Inverter
Setup 2
Solar > Charger > Battery
I am wanting to learn more about running multiple batteries and need help with the solar install as the panels were outputting too many volts my guess is we incorrectly connected them.
Thank you!
