Bikers on Grand Ave

I know first Fridays get crazy...but damn. These swarms of people on motorbikes breaking every traffic law are super increasing the risk of harm to basically everyone on the road/sidewalk.

I turned on to Grand by that Sinclair station and some dude on a motorbike just suddenly pulls right out in front of me trying to stop all traffic for... his motorbike friends? I swerve around him because I don't owe him anything and he starts yelling at me and harassing me, calling me names as he and his super cool biker friends chase me hella close down the street.

It's like, dude, I'm in a car and you're on a bike. It would've taken exactly one moment of carelessness on my part and you would be in the ICU right now.

I know KCPD does nothing and will do nothing. I'm just venting. Feel free to share your insane late night Crossroads stories below.

Anybody here who was part of the alt-everything arts and music scene in the early/mid 80's on? Would love to hear some stories.

I'm talking Yard Apes and shows at the VFW. Sin City Disciples, Psychowelders, Mongol Beach Party and the Coctails. Ann's record store and the Human Observation Lab. Alt Monday's at the Grand Emporium and and the floor bouncing at Harling's on Saturday. No Means No at Epitaph. Gorilla Theater and Plan 9 the Musical. If you know, you know. Let's get some history into the public record!

Opinions on the best thrifting?

Hi y'all!

I'm about to move to Kansas next month (about an hour-ish outside KC) and I'm wondering where the best places to thrift are in your fair city. I'm primarily looking for furniture, dishes, nicknacks and things, but I'll never turn down a good place for clothes! TIA!

What is up with Mayor Prayer Breakfasts?

Got this today and made me wonder why city governments can host these almost always host these (usually very overtly Christian) events?

Does anybody have a general contractor they can recommend that works on kitchens?

Had a flood in my kitchen pipe. The demo team ripped up my flooring, a small piece of drywall and destroyed my cabinets. Insurance sent me a check and told me to look for a general contractor to hire for the repair job. Does anybody have anybody they recommend? It’s a small kitchen. Fake marble tile flooring. 8x18 in drywall. (3) 24 inch counters. Stuff like that.

Nightlife and Safety

Hello! I'm going to be in KC for a concert on Saturday! We'll be staying the night in North Kansas City and the concert is at the T-Mobile center. I'm looking for club recommendations for 22/24 age..we're just looking to have a blast after the concert. Im hoping for something in walking distance of my hotel or the T-Mobile center if yall have recommendations? We usually do karoke at our local LGBTQ+ bar but we're looking for a club with rap/trap/ass-shaking type music and just good vibes i guess....I was also wondering about safety in the area? Do I need to worry about getting my car broken into/stolen? Also would we be safe to walk from any bar/club back to our hotel? TIA

Titan Pest Control ghosting customers??

I've had bi-monthly service with them since late 2022. No issues until the past few months. I stopped getting email invoices or service scheduling reminders. Instead, just texts from random technicians saying they can swing by (usually the same day) if we're available. Usually we're not.

The past 2 times, I've responded with "Yes, but do the exterior only and be sure to take care of spider webs." Spider webs were left completely untouched. Life got busy and I didn't get around to following up. I've been meaning to cancel anyway, so I sat down to do that today.

Called each number listed on their website. One went to voicemail, the others say the number was disconnected. Hunted down an email address, and it came back undeliverable.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with these people??? Anyone know what their deal is? I'm close to just removing my credit card but I really want to cancel my contract in writing so they can't bill me or send to collections.

Does anyone know why turner diagonal freeway is gonna reopen in may of 2026?

Original reopen date was for December of 2024. Now they’re saying MAY OF 2026? Like what are these people doing??? Ugh. Was looking forward to shaving off a few miles off my commute instead of having to go all the way down to 635. I hate that ramp from i70 to 635. It’s so short, I feel like ima crash. Anyone have any ideas bout the delay?

Any open indoor volleyball courts around?

Just looking for indoor volleyball courts this weekend. Either pay per person or per hour, I don’t care. It’ll be probably 4-5 people (would love more people there for pickup games) and just looking to practice/play around. Is this something that’s available around here? Every facility I’ve come across seems to be centered around their own leagues and don’t offer open play.

Educators of KC, How do you feel about amendment 2?

I love my sports. I love my city and supporting my city. I also like driving over to KS and putting in a sports bet from time to time. I also know that educators are some of the most overworked and underpaid employees in this country. I've had some conversations with friends who are local teachers from different districts in the metro and I've received a mixed consensus.

From what i understand, the verbiage in amendment 2 despite whatever the local ads say would allow for too many loopholes on behalf of the sportsbooks and wouldn't even come close to the $100 Million payout that we see advertised in the ads circulating online and on TV

What do you all think?

Mechanics for Performance Cars - Greater KC

Hey all,

I have just bought a 2011 corvette. I have a mechanic that used to service by 2006 scion xA, but I am thinking I may want to go to a spot with more experience with performance cars, tune ups, performance tunes and etc.

Any reputable places around KC for that? I'm looking for normal oil changes, tire service, suspension and alignments, other fluids, parts repairs, and tune.

I'm located downtown right now but about to move to Overland Park. I'm fine with up to a 30 min drive, so anywhere around KC, let me know.

Looking for local goods or food item stores in the KC area.

Visiting KC and always like bringing back local products as gifts. Are there any speciality stores that have local made gifts or food items in the KC area? Even a specialty grocery that has sauces, seasonings, jams, etc.

Anyone know of a reputable disaster relief organization, other than Red Cross or United Way, in the KC area headed to TN or NC accepting drop off donations?

My mom has lost a lot of weight. She's got a lot good quality, gently used stuff that doesn't fit her anymore. I've offered to take them off her hands and donate them. Anyone know of an organization or a website listing local organizations headed that way?

How much is appropriate to pay the executor of a will/an estate?

Wondering how much is appropriate to pay the executor of an estate in Missouri? My father passed away and split everything evenly between my sister and appointed my uncle as executor. How much should he be paid to file taxes on behalf of the estate?
