Missouri License and Title Agency

Has anyone had any experience with Missouri License and Title agency off of Gilham? If so, how was it? What can I expect?

My GF and I have date night every Wednesday. We love to sit at a bar, enjoy wine and appetizers. From dive bars to steakhouse, we are game for anything, especially a can’t miss deal. What are some of your favorite places?

Best Orthodox Christian Churches for Curious Newcomers?

Like it says in title. Baptized Christian from a different tradition, but have been curious about orthodoxy for a while, have read David Bentley Hart, etc. Interested also in holy liturgies held during the week.

ISO ROOMATE(S) - APRIL 2025

Throwing a Hail Mary !

Hi! I'm (24m) looking for a roommate (or two) to move into a house or apartment with me starting in April 2025. My budget is $1,400/month, and l'd prefer a place near the downtown area, but I'm open to spots in KCK too.

You'd need to be okay with animals—I have a sweet, potty-trained dog who will be living with us.

If you're interested, feel free to message me here or on Instagram (@jpg.rae).

Does anyone remember an old bar in, I think, West Bottoms, called The Hickory?

I kinda grew up in the place, my dad owned a dock/warehouse down there and we would go there quite often when he was doing business. I'm trying to find out anything I can about the place.

Best/Honest Guitar Store in KC

Any favorite honest guitar stores in town? Anywhere but north of the river would be great. Thanks for any suggestions.

Has anybody been to “ jingle” this year out at legends? It was so fun last year but I’m hearing mixed reviews. Anybody been? Is it good this year?

Transitioning into a tech career

Hi all,

A quick question for those involved in tech. Does anyone have a pulse on the job market (or the future outlook of it) in KC currently? I’d like to transition into a career in tech, but I’m worried about investing a lot of time into a career that will leave me jobless. Some related questions…

-Are bootcamps a viable option for aspiring software engineers in KC in 2024? -Also, What does the KC job market look like for those interested in cybersecurity?

I have a bachelors and two masters in completely unrelated fields, but a little less than a year before I would need to find a new job.

Thanks!

Is the inner shoulder on 71 highway south of 75th street now a defacto dump? Why is there so much trash?

Fun and Relatively Safe NYE Events?

Looking for NYE events that don't cost an arm and a leg but aren't run by fly-by-night "marketing companies" that book weird venues and suck at crowd control and keeping lines moving. Willing to pay a little for a quality experience.

I have nothing against small get-togethers at home, but it's not what I'm looking for this year. TIA!

Local job websites or boards?

I have close friends who plan to move around here soon, and they've been having trouble finding job sites for specific local areas (e.g. St. Louis, Joplin, Kansas City, etc.). I can scroll through Indeed and filter by location to aid them, but I know in some places (like my current state and city) there are sometimes specific websites, boards, or groups which list jobs located in particular cities or regions. Is there anything like that for KC MO? Thanks all for any helpful responses.

Help finding decent property management

I am currently looking for a place to live in Kansas City. I do have pretty bad credit from a car repossession and breaking a lease that happened in a bad time in my life, almost 3 years ago. Most places I apply to won’t accept my application to live there because of this. I’m looking for something $800-1200/month ($1200 being a last resort). THEY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR ROACHES TOO NO FREAKING ROACHES!!!! Is there any property companies that would take me with these stipulations? I had a friend recommend first space KC and she said they were always helpful if she fell behind in payments or if she had maintenance that needed tending to. She is also a felon and it’s the one place that would take her so I figured they may be worth a shot. Any other companies yall would recommend?

Kansas City Christmas by Kate Cosentino

Good morning Kansas City. I enjoy collecting Christmas music that would otherwise probably be lost in the large amount that comes out every year and I just stumbled upon one this year that is called "Kansas City Christmas" and it's by Kate Cosentino and Jo MacKenzie. I assume Kate is related to the Cosentino family that owns numerous grocery stores in town. Does anyone know? It's actually a simple but sweet and catchy song. I've attached the link for those interested in checking it out. Not working for her or promoting the song for any fee. Just sharing music. :)

Hyde Park neighbors, what's your go-to grocery store?

Just moved to South Hyde Park, after living in Waldo for several years. I hadn't realized how spoiled I was for being just 4 or 5 blocks away from Aldi. I could step out to grab a gallon of milk or loaf of bread and be back in the kitchen in 10min or less.

Today I made the rookie mistake of trying to do a quick run at Costco for just bread and milk. Of course it took me over half an hour, and I bought more stuff than planned.

The Aldi on Troost is a little ways out. I wish it was easier to drive straight west for Sunfresh. What's the Aldi at Prospect like? The Whole Foods at 51st is another option.

KU med center: has anyone lost an offer due to driving record?

I have been offered a position and I have jumped through so many hoops for this place trying to get through this brutal onboarding process! They first couldn’t verify my education but didn’t specify what education so I had my trade school transcript sent when it was my high school they were wanting. Found that out last week when all school offices were closed for the holiday. Then they brought up my DMV record and asked for details. I provided them and had to wait for a response from another department on whether or not they would need more info. They did but the person I was talking to thought DMV report would be enough. Did not find out until after holiday weekend that they need more info. I did get all the other stuff verified to this point.

I want this job so very much, so I’m trying to take this in stride. But I’m so anxious. I had an accident in April of this year after I failed to stop at a light. I know this is a really bad one, but it gets worse: in August of this year, I backed into a car that was parked behind my driveway.

I had to order a police report for the first accident. There is not a police report for the other one since no one was cited and it was private property, but since an officer came it is on my DMV record. I did provide the record to them but I don’t have anything else to give. It sounded like there’s a very real possibility that I am not going to get this job due to this record. I sent everything over this afternoon but did not learn anything by end of day. I was supposed to start this Thursday, but it seems like at the very least, that will be pushed back. I’m just feeling really down about it. I had a clean record for 5+ years, and then this year has been a bad one. This also seems odd since the position does not require travel or driving at all. Unless they are decided whether or not I am attentive enough to be a good employee based on this?

Has anyone else experienced this process? Or can anyone offer any insight.

Please be nice to me I’m just trying to quiet my mind as I wait 😭

Looking for a shop that does intake valve blasting

Any recommendations on a professional shop that offers walnut blasting around KC? I searched the sub but the last post was awhile ago, just curious if there’s any more highly recommended options lately. Thanks!
