Heard what I thought was gunshots, look out my window and then see someone shooting either into or out of a car (too far to tell, all I could see was the flash of the gun as it fired). Next thing I know they're getting chased off by the cops.
Love living downtown. Love hearing gunshots most nights. Love being scared to be here.
Will it ever stop?
I have a Bachelor’s government degree from KU & i’m applying for entry level jobs as much as I can for over a year now. Entry level administrative stuff. Never even an email back for the most part. I send cover letters. I simply need help. The worst mistake I made in college was not establishing solid connections to create job openings, or just not knowing someone personally with the ability to help me. I had to Doordash full time for a couple years during college due to health issues, & I’ve been working a low paying job this year just to get by, so I imagine these jobs aren’t helping me on my resume. Is there anyone with any kind of knowledge of companies hiring, hopefully within the bounds of a government degree (public/private sector, administrative work, something where I help people)?
I am an out of tower and I've been to two wildly different price choppers. So I figure I would just ask which one is the "good one"?
Wanna try a new recipe but having trouble finding fresh duck meat.
Anybody know why fireworks are going off tonight?
We need a bad driving flair. I hate driving in this city. 40 mph is not fast enough to merge onto a highway with a 70 mph speed limit. What fucking idiot taught you how to drive?
i know its a long shot but - i typically like to have a 3 week vacation once a year with my family but i know few good jobs allow that. i currently work in a restaurant where something like that is super feasible but i dont make much. are there any more “professional/etc” jobs that allow something like that? i looked into the IRS and they definitely dont. i am very sickly so i typically end up using all my sick leave pretty early on, which is why im asking about unpaid leave. thank you guys!!
I'm planning a flea market on November 16th in Independence, MO and am searching for vendors! The event will be at a church but is NOT CHURCH AFFLIATED! Copy and pasted information below.
"Secondhand, thrifted, flipped and upcycled vendors; now is your time! Our flea market will be outdoors in a grassy field. There will also be no electricity. Please plan accordingly. Bathrooms are available inside the building. Food and drink vendors are welcome as well. No food trucks or trailers allowed on the grass. Vendors will pay $35 for a space on the grass. Tables can be provided for $5 extra per table. Tables are FCFS; there is only a select number! Chairs, tents, weights and other equipment are not provided. Set up begins at 9:00 AM, tear down begins at 5:00 PM."
If you have any questions or are interested, please reach out to me!
Preferably in the JOCO area, but really wanting to watch the early results with a crowd
Just in case nobody has posted it here, the NAACP has partnered with Lyft to provide discounted rides to the polls on Election Day. Use the code NAACPVOTE24 to claim up to $20 off of two rides ($40 total)— one to the polls and one back. Very cool. Thanks, Lyft!
So a couple of months ago I was feeling like I wanted a pizza so I went to Papa johns cuz it was the closest place to me. I go the the location order my pizza outside on my phone and wait for it to be done in the car. I noticed it was a little busy, it was 6 in the evening. So I'm just waiting and I hear (the car was extremely damaged and squeaking very loud )this car pulls up in the spot behind me. A guy get out and goes inside I noticed he looked very agitated. So after a bit the app says my pizza is done I go inside and the guy is screaming and yelling at the staff about how long it was taking . Calling the staff useless bitches, he didn't have time for this shit, etc. They were very apologetic too. Apologizing for the wait, they were definitely understaffed. So eventually an older gentleman speaks up telling him to leave the staff alone very brave of him btw. The guy says fuck it I'll wait in my car. I had walked out at this point cuz I was so uncomfortable. Staff tells me I'm so sorry gonna be awhile longer. I was like don't worry at at all. No big deal. So Im in my car guy goes in gets his pizza I guess and I hear a big banging sound. He kicked the door open to leave I look up at him from my car( I was parked right in front of the door) he notices me and immediately starts saying what the fuck are you looking at, cussing at me. I was legit speechless cuz I was like what the fuck did I do. He walks to his car gets in pulls up behind my car and throws a fucking drink at my driver side window. I had it open too cuz I like fresh air so it got all over me and the inside of my car. He sped away before I could get his plate. The workers noticed came out and gave me some napkins and we were all like what the fuck. He even called a few minutes later saying tell that bitch to have fun cleaning her car. I was fucking livid. I had done literally nothing to this man but make eye contact with him I never even said a word the whole time to him when I was in the store. Well apparently he was a doordash driver and the staff were gonna be contacting them and they had called the police. All this over a fucking pizza when he could have just dropped the order. So police came and they filed a report. Doordash ended contacting me for a statement and said they would be taking action. I have never had something like this happen to me. What would you have done? Why are people crazy? lol. Long story short never going to Papa johns anytime soon. This happened at the Westport location.
Edit: to all the people saying this didn't happen to me. It did. I made the post because of all the public freakout vids I see online and just wanted to share my experience. That's all.
Does anyone know of anyplace you can go around KC where you can buy nice patchwork/americana style quilts? I need to replace my bedding and would love to support a local craftsperson or small business instead of just buying something from a big chain store. I figure there must be lots of quilters around KC and it would be cool to own something local or handmade.
Also not really concerned about price, I’m willing to spend a decent amount of $$ for something I’ll keep for a long time!
Saw a TikTok of another city with a Survivor watch party at a local bar! Any bars in KC where folks meet up?
Today I walked by Union Station and noticed the streetcar heading south. Is the route open to Westport now?
Hey KC Community,
With the rise of recent events surrounding Redbox going bankrupt, many places were left with their machines and no word from the company on whether they were going to be picked up, Redbox ghosted many places and corporations like CVS and Walgreens got rights on court to remove their machines themselves.
With this said, there's been a community rapidly forming who deals with preservation and personal use of these machines, going so far as people posting that they have been collecting several machines in their garage.
I have had my own interest in this, but it seems like it's rather difficult to find machine here in KC that isn't already gone or locked away by a large corporation and their policies. I want to get one for myself and if I'm lucky enough, some of my friends as well. I just can't seem to find a place around here like others have on their discord community.
Not sure if anybody here knows anything about this, but I'd like to hear from the community
Does anyone know where I can buy raw boudin sausages and other cajun food items?
Looking for recommendations for the best Christmas tree farms, within about an hour of KC. We are looking for a fun Christmas farm experience where you can cut down your own tree or pick from precut and there is maybe hot chocolate, photo ops, wreaths and other crafts to buy. We've been to Bierman's and it was okay but the traffic was insane. Wondering if there's some better options out there. Thanks in advance.
I was sick for over a week and want to go out tonight in costume! Does anyone know of anything for Halloween?
I know the big stuff was last weekend but there has to be something.
We were looking forward to the old Best buy being another Spirit Halloween this year only to find out something else is being built there. They've done a lot of construction on the outer facade but there's no signs that advertise what it is that I can find. Does anyone know? It would be great if we could get a planet fitness.
Hey all,
I’ve been wondering where I can find a local artist who has experience in doing woodcut or engraving style tattoos?
If anyone knows of an artist, please let me know!
Hey community,
My son’s bass guitar flew out the side compartment of his school bus at the corner of 92 and 29 as you turn left to go North on 29. It would be the North East corner of then intersection. This happened around 7-8AM this morning.
The bus driver recalls a student messing with the latch but my son never exited the bus. They didn’t do a walk around before departing later to find the compartment open when they got to St Joe.
We’re pretty frustrated. It was my wife’s late father’s bass.
It has Platte county music in the front pocket.
It’s a black rogue bass with flat wound strings.
If you have any info please let me know.
Thank you!!!!
I found a few posts suggesting some from 2022, but when I tried reaching out I found that a lot of them no longer practice employment cases in the area.
I was curious if anyone has suggestions for an employment lawyer in the area. I think I have a pretty good wrongful termination claim and can afford a retainer because I believe it’s worth it.
Is there anyone in the area you would recommend or suggest?
Been seeing the signage, but nothing else since…
Can anyone suggest any decent paying gig work apps. Preferable online. There have to ve some reluable ones out there somewhere.. Thanks
I’m looking for a place to watch with like minded people.
The site for checking wait times wasn’t loading this morning so we headed out that way …. Parking downtown is non-existent, folks are parking in empty lots / grassy area across from the fire station, and the line is loooong.
Love to see a solid turnout!
Getting ready to head out to vote. Anyone know wait times today since this the only Saturday for it? Also curious if normal rules like in line prior to polls close are you still allowed to vote?
