Just finished reading Liarmouth and I gotta say I really liked it! It has some LOL moments, typically books, even funny ones, don't get an actual vocal chuckle or laugh out of me (some Terry Pratchett can do this to me, not much else)
Really fun book. Filthy. I can see it being an amazing movie. And I hope he gets the funding to make it!
Only thing that didn't work for me was all the bouncing/shaking/rolling stuff - it got to be a bit too much but, it's more of a nitpick than anything else.
I strongly suggest any Waters fans should read Liarmouth!
What do others think about this book?
I've never been! There are still some ticket options available, but I'd be solo. Anyone else going solo?
My initial and lasting impression of John Waters was his appearance on The Simpsons. Over time I’ve seen watched half of Pink Flamingos (wasn’t in the right headspace to enjoy it) and various excerpts from his writings, mostly on the Manson trial, as well as the tour of his home on YouTube.
I’m really interested in reading his writing, especially on trash culture. Where would you suggest is the best place to start? What books? Or is there another medium where he speaks about those sorts of subjects?
i saw somebody mention some roger waters quote where he said something along the lines of: "be the most extreme version of youself. if you're fat, you have to be a meatball; if you're skinny, take diet pills..." and so on and so forth.
anyway, i found this quite inspiring, and am interested to see the exact quote and where it came from. i looked for a bit and couldn't find anything but this article paraphrasing it. does anybody have a clue?
Hi everyone! We have VIP tickets to see his show in Baltimore!!! We are so excited. The last time I met John was at his book signing for liar mouth. I was wondering what anyone else’s experience has been going to the Christmas show? Am I able to take things to sign? Also, any questions I should ask for the Q&A? I have a few written down but I’m sure you guys have some good ones! (And don’t worry, if I or anyone else asks your question I’ll let you guys know his answer!)
Hi, this is very random and I know TRHPS came out one year later..but could it be in any shape of form a reference to anything? Does anyone have any information?
Does anyone know if he does meet n greets before or after the shows on the Christmas tour? It doesn't say on the venue's website.
I was thinking of possibly getting it as a tattoo or brand, but can't seem to discern what it is. I figured if anyone on the Internet could help clear this up, they'd be here.
These are the clearest screen shots I was able to get: https://imgur.com/a/ofaa9Zh
And the only thing I could find online was a shop claiming to be selling an official prop of the brand, here: https://imgur.com/a/XqnFtGy
But that's definitely not it, unless someone hammered it into a different shape after they finished filming
I absolutely thought it was great. It holds up so well and I’m bummed I went this long without seeing it. One thing that jumped out at me (and after googling and searching I’m kind of shocked it hasn’t been written about) is the influence Waters must have had on David Wain. I feel like Serial Mom is the early version of Wain’s style and humor in a way. Even the shocking moments remind me of Wain and how he uses humor and bursts of action that feel over the top intentionally.
Was just curious about thoughts from this crowd since I am early on in my Waters exploration but this came to mind as I watched Serial Mom.
Had a video removed, all it said was "for use of pronouns and possibly rule 2"...
I still don't know what rule 2 is, and.... I may have forgotten what a pronoun is... because... did they mean 'you' or the proper noun John Waters? I'm flummoxed.
I'm watching the trash trilogy with audio commentary at the moment and it just made me wonder if he's ever stated it.
My gfs sister knew a guy named Joe Christ in the late 90s and early 2000s (like followed him around). He made shock films like sex, blood and mutilation. He was like a tacky imitation of John Waters. He died in 2009.
She swears there was some interview where John Waters trashes Joe Christ but can't find it anywhere. Anybody know anything about this or where to point us in the right direcrion?
I've been looking for a rip of the original full frame Pink Flamingos VHS tapes and I finally found one on VK! here is the link! enjoy :)
Edit: it seems the link can't be posted? Google 'Pink Flamingos full frame vhs rip' and click the vk . com link!
Edit 2: I was able to download the video and have created a torrent. DM me if you want it!

It's a cartoon about hell imp assassins and it's pretty gay. I was excited to recognize his voice!
