Have you ever wondered what it would be like if a 16 year old teenager interviewed John Waters?
Probably not. But my name is Daniel. I’m 16 years old, and I have a YouTube channel where I interview filmmakers. And somehow, by some miracle. I interviewed John Waters, in a completely UN-CENSORED interview. One of the greatest pleasures of my life, and Mr Waters is a true legend. Just a crazy, but truthful and beautiful chat about cinema.
So if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like for a 16 year old to interview John Waters, look no further! Thank you all. Here’s the link!
What question would you ask?
…Back in 2019. We had a release planned and then the pandemic happened. And then life happened. And I never got around to releasing it. Until now! - it debuts in 8 hours and I wanted to share it with you all!
I’ve been podcasting for ten years, but this one is special and had a lot of personal significance to me. My mom was a massive John Waters fan and I grew up on his films. She was a single parent and had a heavy influence on me in terms of the media I consumed and in turn the things I love. I lost my mom in 2010 and I know she’d be thrilled to know I had a chance to interview one of her favorite filmmakers. In other words, this episode means a lot. Check out my conversation with one of the best directors on the planet!
Is anyone attending this year or have you before? What time should I get there for the best seating as it's GA? Also does he take photos with fans after?
Thanks
posted earlier about where to watch desperate living but I meant cbd instead 😭 not on prime or youtube, French dub on all the p*rated sites + I don't own a dvd player! help! (uk)
I was listening to the Unspooled podcast on Hairspray. They were discussing the scene where Toussaint was singing and then the scene goes to a man outside singing along to the song as well if not better.
They were hypothesizing that the purpose of the scene was potentially to say that there is talent every where, but you can't see it if you aren't looking, something like that.
What are others thoughts on the purpose of that scene? I felt like it was more based on showing the talent that should have recognized but was not due to racism.
I went to the Academy Museum a few days ago. I had no idea about the rarity of these films but still sat through the entire projector loop as they were fascinating. Once I got home I came to find out that I had stumbled upon such rare gems, and became frustrated that I hadn’t tried to record any clips or paid extra attention to the details. I should’ve probably sat through another loop of it as there was so much craziness going on in each of them.
When I say shortened I don’t mean a few seconds or clips, I would say it keeps the structure of each movie from beginning to end but narrowed down to maybe 15 mins? (at least for Mondo Trasho). I think Hag in a Black Leather Jacket may have been narrowed down to 5 minutes. Eat Your Makeup did feel a little longer. I was there for quite a while overall. They were however all muted except for the occasional yell or singled dialogue (like for Eat your Makeup, I vividly remember it started with a model crawling over sand in a desert yelling “Maaaaakeup, Maaaaaakeup” in a zombie-like voice) and then there was no more sound.
If anyone is able to go it would be nice if they managed to get some clips for preservation purposes. I’m mad at myself I wasn’t aware enough of their semi-lost media status to even try.
Hey all! Big John waters fan here. He announced he’s coming to my town today and I’m wondering what the shows are like. Specifically what is the content level? Is it like pink flamingos whistling butthole or serial mom Fun funny and campy.
My Mom WANTED to see "SERIAL MOM" on Mother's Day! 🤣 Best of John Waters' "mainstream" movies.
