And we all know we have the tech to prevent it
Hi, so spotthestation.nasa.gov is good and all, but is there any way to see further out iss flyovers? for my city right now, the list of flyovers only goes out less than 2 weeks.
I’m sorry for the terrible video but it caught me by suprise. As I was watching the ISS pass over I noticed another light trailing and to the right of the ISS. In the sky it was maybe 5 inches apart which I know is a lot in actual space but any idea what it could have been I’ll post a photo of the two and the video. Thanks
Today, I captured my first Slow Scan TV image sent from the ISS, which was picked up on my radio and fed into the computer to decode. Not the clearest, but it was my first attempt!

The radio I used was a Retevis RT95, connected to a roof top colinear antenna for the 2m band. Tuning into 145.800MHz and recording the audio into the sound card of a computer running QSSTV to decode it.
I'm also experimenting with a handheld radio poking out of the attic velux window to get a better lock onto the signal.

Before this, I've heard the ISS crew on the same frequency, talking back to schools on outreach programmes.
Still on the to-do list, use the ISS repeater to make an amateur radio contact with someone else on the ground via the ISS, and to perhaps strike lucky one day and get a contact direct with the crew. All possible, but I'll probably need to change antenna.
UPDATE: Stood outside with a handheld scanner and telescopic whip and managed to pick up this and I'm totally chuffed at how clear that picture is! As a relative noob to ham radio too.
Alas that's it for today, no more passes overhead until tomorrow.
Unfortunately, instead of taking that stunning picture of the ISS and the veus next to each other with the same brightness, I chose to check if I was right (I was)...and then it was too late :(
But I did a screenshot of the app showing the ISS.
Got a notification that I would be able to see the ISS and hustled outside. Definitely a cool sight to see
