If I give candy to a baby and his or her parents take it away they've committed a crime because they've stolen candy from a baby. It's no crime to give a baby candy.

I am INTP and hilarious. I love comedy. When I was a kid my number 1 goal was to become a professional comedian.

I noticed I usually get downvoted when I post here even though I think my shit is hilarious. To try and better reach my fellow INTPs with my comedy I now have to reach out and ask for some feedback and constructive criticism. What are some of the issues with my comedic posts and what could I be doing better?

I find Bo Burnham to be a great comedian that I can relate to. Post anything Bo Burnham here. Jokes, videos, and references are welcomed.

What are some TV shows you enjoy watching?

I recently finished watching Scrubs and Arrested Development and was not sure what other comedies to watch. I have Portlandia, Maron, and Louie in my queue.

How many INTP's does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Just one. It'll take six months before they get to it though.

/r/INTPComedy has been opened up to the public

I wrote a script to get all users with flair containing "INTP" in the /r/INTP subreddit, but it requires mod access. Since the mods over at /r/INTP do not respond to anything (or haven't so far), I can't use it.

The alternative is manually looking at all submissions on there (which doesn't catch users who haven't submitted anything yet) and adding them (again, manually). That's a huge pain in the ass and many here have raised concerns about the number of subscribers and the inevitable decline in activity here.

From now on, anyone can submit to the subreddit. If you're not an INTP, but have something you think we'd enjoy, you're welcome to submit. Hello, world!

I'm currently shadowbanned (I don't know what for yet), so I may not respond to comments straight away.

How many aspiring comedians do we have in here?

I've done stand up a handful of times, and am planning on pursuing it more seriously in the near future. You know, when I'm done thinking about doing it.

What's the deal with you guys?

Let's talk about Comedy Bang Bang!

For your consideration, I submit to this sub the brilliance of Comedy Bang Bang (a.k.a. Comedy Death Ray Radio, Comedy Bing Bong, Comedy Big Bang Theory, etc) hosted by Scott Aukerman (a.k.a. Shop Talkerman, Shock Jockerman, Hot Soccermom, Flop Chonkerton, etc).

The crux of this comedy world is in its podcast. Originally, the show was aired under the name Comedy Death Ray Radio, broadcast out of Los Angles on a station called Indie 103. The host, Scott Aukerman, is one of those guys who's been behind some great progressive sketch comedy in the past 15 years. He's worked with Bob Odenkirk on Mr. Show with Bob & David, bounced around some Dreamworks Animation voice/writing, co-created Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis, and in 2010 co-founded the Earwolf Podcast Network. But the podcast format revival of Aukerman's sketch comedy showcase Comedy Death Ray (now called Comedy Bang Bang!) truly hit the nail on the head.

If you like podcasts, you're gonna love Comedy Bang Bang! If you haven't really given podcasts a try, and you like comedy (which I assume is why you're in this subreddit), you should listen to a few episodes of Comedy Bang Bang. All of the episodes are free on their Itunes and website to stream or download, going back all the way to mid 2009. The show is a mash up of interviews, characters, games, music, and all things comedy. Some terrific special celebrity guests show up as well; Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ice-T, Don Dimelo, Huell Howser, and of course, Scott's ex-stepfather, Bob Ducca. And let me tell you, plenty of real people have done Comedy Bang Bang as well:

  • Thomas Lennon, Nick Thune, Brett Gelman, Paul F. Tompkins (genius on this show), Rob Huebel, Andy Samberg, Andy Daly, Reggie Watts (of course), Tig Notaro, Weird Al, Nick Kroll, Harris Wittels, Kyle Kinane, Jon Hamm, Zach Galifianakis, Chelsea Peretti, Andy Richter, Jordan Peele, Ben Schwartz, literally Saul Goodman shows up for real, Patton Oswalt, Will Forte, David Wain, Jon Daly, Adam Scott, Jerrod Carmichael, Jenny Slate, David Cross, Matt Besser, Horatio Sanz, James Adomain, Seth Morris, John Mulaney, Casey Wilson, Paul Rust (new nonos!), Adam Pally, Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, Doug Benson, Sarah Silverman, Gregg Turkington, Jimmy Pardo, Rory Scovel, Brendon Walsh, Kristen Schaal, Pete Holmes, Brian Posehn, Kumal Nanjiani, Neil Campbell, Marc Maron, Anthony Jeselnik, Paul Scheer, Eugene Mirman, Jason Mantzoukas, Jessica St. Clair, Amy Poehler, Leo Allen, and Nick Offerman are just some of the people that make this show great.

There's even a TV Show for Comedy Bang Bang on the IFC channel, which is also great. The podcast though is killer. It's been going on since 2009, and each show is usually an hour and a half of great comedy. I personally never really saw myself getting into podcasts, but the Comedy Bang Bang universe is just so worthwhile to me. It's an endless array of characters and improv, stand up and storytelling. I don't know about other INTPs, but I really, really like being in on an inside joke, you know? And Comedy Bang Bang delivers. It's the kind of show that develops with itself, leading to 'inside jokes' or 'long running gags' or character developments that are sometimes years in the making. Oh, and Reggie Watts does the theme song.

In conclusion, I highly suggest Comedy Bang Bang to this INTPcomedy subreddit. I'm sure many of you have already come across either the show or the podcast if you've been a fan of comedy in the past few years, but if not, please check it out. I suggest going back and listening to various earlier episodes, perhaps even finding some of the 'Best Of' or 'Holiday Spectacular' episodes as an introduction. I know the breadth of this show may seem daunting, but I'm telling you, just dive right in. Every episode is great, and the more you pile on, the more jokes you'll get and Comedy Bang Bang will just get better and better--and I'll see you never at the post office!

Anyone know how to get hold of the mods at /r/INTP?

We have a limited amount of submitters at the moment, which some people have expressed confusion about. The purpose of this is to only allow INTPs to submit, so I created a bot which checks all the flairs on /r/INTP and prints out any user whose flair contains the word "INTP" anywhere in it (should change it so that it directly adds them as a submitter, but I just wanted to get the names first). Unfortunately, I have to be a mod to actually get the flair. I've tested the bot on another of my own subreddit, but I need the mods at /r/INTP to either add me as a mod (so I can do it in one bot) or run the program themselves (so I can feed the list of names to another bot).

If you think I should just open it up to outsiders, please say so. I want to get an idea of what people want this subreddit to be.

Edit: I should mention, I've already tried mod mailing them. They don't seem to be active.

Which comedians do you think might be INTPs?

Figured this might be a fun combinations of our interests.

You can also guess the mbti of comedians you suspect aren't INTPs. You can do whatever you want, really. I'm not your boss.
