Hi everyone,
A few months ago, I shared my experience with a break-in and received great advice from the community. (Here’s the post for reference: break in experience). This experience got me thinking about ways to enhance home security using technology. I'm a machine learning engineer, and I’ve been considering an idea for a tool that could work as an add-on to popular home security cameras. Here’s the concept:
**AI-Enhanced Threat Detection**: If an intruder breaks in, the camera would use AI to evaluate whether there’s a legitimate safety threat. If so, it would automatically trigger an alarm, deterring the intruder immediately.
**On-Demand Live Agent Response**: If the threat is confirmed, an alert could go to a live safety agent who can actively intervene by sounding the alarm or notifying the police. Unlike typical subscriptions, this service would only charge when a threat is detected, so no monthly fees—only a one-time fee when action is needed.
For me, having experienced a break-in, I’d definitely purchase a tool like this. But I’d love your honest feedback: does this sound like a helpful solution? What features or concerns would you like to see addressed?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
experienced a traumatic experience that I was not able to control due to a failed, SCAM of a security system. Looking for SECURITY CAMERAS - for outdoors, & maybe even indoors for while I am not home / at office, etc. just to keep tabs on things in case of emergencies!!
Here’s what I have in mind:
Only need maybe a couple cameras, but if sensors included or can be bought separately that’s fine. I am on a budget but am willing to go lengths for those I love.
Please help. I can’t take another chance! 🙏🏼
I currently have a Night Owl wired system with 4 cameras. This system has sucked since shortly after setting it up between the DVR failing and the app is trash. Looking for an upgrade that's not extremely expensive. I would like PoE with a minimum of 5 cameras so a 6 channel would be ideal. An app for remote viewing is a plus.
Not sure about going with a Night Owl PoE system since my original one sucks but I've also looked into Lorex and Reolink. Are there any other good options?
I was asked before why I don't go with Ring or Wyze. I don't have outlets anywhere near where the cameras would be. Closest outlet is about 30 feet from the nearest camera location. I also can't do wireless since I'm not able to always swap batteries when needed and the landlord won't let me have the solar panels up.
I have a cloud edge doorbell camera that is wireless and has an SD card. I cannot find an option in the app to set the recording to continuous. It only records events when we come in and out of the house. I need it to record 24/7.
Anyone else try it yet? Seems like a major improvement.
Caught this weird thing that looks almost like a drone on my home security camera. It really freaked me out and I couldn’t figure out what it was. For months my husband and I have been catching weird things like this on our cameras as well as hearing staticky camera interference that almost sounds like people talking faintly being picked up on almost all of the cameras in our house. I can post more videos as well if anyone has any ideas what could be causing this.
What is the best low budget doorbell camera that is compatible with a standard "mechanical" chime?
Thanks!!
Recently, my parents have set up a bunch of new cameras (will provide model numbers) in our home and I was wondering if there's any way I could deactivate them or stop them from detecting for a little bit without them noticing so I can sneak my girlfriend in and out of the house. Here are the model numbers of the cameras: Wansview 2K W7 camera, Wansview ncb541w, and Wansview Q5 camera. Thanks in advance!!
A few days ago, someone broke into my property wearing a mask and threatened me with a gun to steal some cash. Thankfully, we don’t keep much cash at home, so the damage was limited.
I have security cameras installed, and from the footage, I saw that the intruder took around 2 minutes to break in through a window in the backyard. However, I had disabled all motion sensor notifications in the camera app because of too many false alarms.
Has anyone else faced a similar situation? I’m looking for advice on how to improve my home security. Are there any tools or systems that can better filter footage to identify critical events and trigger alarms only when there's a real safety concern? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
And she apparently has no idea how doorbell cams work.
