Need help

So last night I noticed my neighbors installed a camera on the right back side of their fence and it sorta pointed in a way where it can see directly into my glass doors right Into my moms room and anything else in the area and was wondering is this even allowed at first it was weird when they installed a camera on the side of their house pointed right at my driveway but I brushed it off now it’s strange that it’s a direct shot into the house

Possible shooter?

So for context the police had come to my door because of a report of a shooting down the road with one of the vehicles matching the description of my car. They happened to come straight to my trailer park too which led the police to check and see if I was someone they were looking for. This was pretty much the only exciting part of the situation and talked to the cops and figured out quickly it wasn’t me involved. Offered to show him my camera feed and he didn’t even need to check it after he checked the engine of my car was dead cold so it couldn’t have been me.

My aunt needs a set of cams

I have searched high and low and keep getting the run around.
I need to find something that has the following:
No Wi-fi.
SD Card storage
Records Audio
That is discreet enough to not draw attention.

My uncles health has declined, and he is now a danger to himself, and my aunt. It's gotten to the point that we need this for my aunts safety. And to show the medical teams helping her that my uncle needs more help then they are willing to give. As he still is "with it enough" to know when he is in front of professionals and how to fake being "normal".

List of the best baby monitors & cameras

Recently had a child and went through a lot of research when I was buying a baby cam. I thought I’d post it here for any other expecting parents looking to buy a baby cam. The main things to know and to decide are whether or not you want your camera to connect to your Internet or not. A camera that does not connect to the Internet comes with a handheld monitor and has a private connection to the camera therefore, it’s very secure. A camera that connects to the Internet usually comes with an app to be able to view it from your phone so it’s more convenient. However some people can have concerns about it internet security and privacy with this. The other decision point is to decide whether you want any other features on the camera that can monitor your babies, breathing, temperature or motion. For some parents they like this information and for others, it would just drive them crazy so they do not.

Here’s a quick breakdown of cameras I researched

Wyze Cam V3 - A general purpose camera that can be used as a baby cam because of its many features. The only thing is that it does not do continous audio if you lock your phone. Great video quality both day and night, good app, and a really good price point. I've used this one more as a toddler cam. My favorite feature is the ability to store videos if you want to review, just be sure to get an SD memory card. I have a second one of these as a nanny cam which has been useful to see how much TV time nanny is letting my toddler watch. There is a pan/tilt version as well. There is a premium subscription available for additional features but I don't use it.

eufy Spaceview E110 - Standalone monitor with no wifi capability therefore great for privacy/security. Large 5 inch screen that is one of the highest video quality for baby cams in this category. Very responsive and a pretty good range as well. Super reliable. A bit on the higher price. I used this during the infant/early baby stage. Good to have these for continuous monitoring without eating up your phone battery life.

HelloBaby 720P 5.5'' HD Video Baby Monitor - An alternative to the eufy spaceview with similar specs. Has not been out for as long but the initial reviews look good. 5.5" screen with 720p, which is the same video quality as the eufy.

VTech VM901 - Dual function with standalone monitor and wifi capability. Use the monitor when inside the house and the wifi when traveling or for around the house. App is ok.

Owlet Dream Duo 2 - Camera with baby sock that monitors O2 and pulse. No standalone monitor. App doesn't allow for continuous audio monitoring when phone is locked. O2 sensor is on the conservative side, meaning you may get alerts even when everything is fine. Good for parents that want the extra level of information.

Vtech DM221 - This is a good alternative for getting with the Wyze cam or any other repurposed home cam. This always you to listen to the baby continuously and you can check the video when you hear anything. Also great for travel since it's battery powered and portable.

Let me know if you have any other ones that you like or come across and I'll add them to the list.

Decent Wi-Fi cam to stick to existing peephole

I am looking for a small flat-ish camera that I can mount to the peep hole that already exists. I cannot remove the current peep hole in any way, shape or form. So none of the Amazon solutions will work for me. They require the lens itself to be part of the camera. All I want is a camera that will record the video that is coming through the same peep hole I can look through with my own eyes. It could technically be wired, but wireless is obviously better. I don’t even intend to record with it. I would much rather just be able to look at my phone to see who’s at my door when the bell rings. But due to German law, and due to my landlord, being a twat, I cannot simply remove the current peep hole. Any idea on a decent camera? I can basically duct tape to the inside of my door?

Is it possible for someone with shared access to my Mi Home camera to remotely activate the microphone without my knowledge?

Is it possible for someone with shared access to my Mi Home camera to remotely activate the microphone without my knowledge? I'm certain I had the microphone turned off, but my ex-boyfriend, who still has access to the camera, claims he could hear a conversation I had. How could this happen if the microphone was supposedly off?

Feral Cat Monitoring

I know absolutely nothing about this technology…so sorry I sound dumb. But I have an outside feral cat I care for and I want to set up something to monitor her. I would like to place a camera in my garage and would want to be able to watch it from my computer/phone in realtime. I have no need to save footage or record it, I am only interested the live view. I assume I can connect something to my wifi, but what sort of device do I need? And can I view it free once set up? I also live in a cold climate, so would need the camera to hold up to cold temps. Thanks so much for any guidance!

Vava Home Cam App (Vava Cam Pro) is EOL! What next?

In response to https://community.vava.com/t/vava-home-app-no-longer-working/2271 on the Vave forums (which is no longer taking new users), I reached out to support as to what happened to this project and got the following.

" Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out and we're very sorry for the trouble. We regret to inform you that the VAVA application has been discontinued and is no longer available for use. If you are encountering login issues or difficulties changing your password, it is because the app's services have been permanently discontinued. Unfortunately, this means that access to the app is no longer possible.

We hope for your kind understanding and we're truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Best Regards,
VAVA Customer Care "

So now we were sold a product that amazingly didn't require monthly access fees to our own data (as it was stored on their base device that is part of our own networks) only to learn that they decided to turn off the authentication system and app so we can no longer access our data. Cr@p!

This happens though. Customer Service is an afterthought these days. The product was good and fit a niche in the land of Ring and Nest where they make most of their money on the monthly access fees.

But... I really like these cameras and would like to re-use them somehow. I have the means and knowhow to create my own server for recording and passing through my router to a browser based solution for viewing remotely. I just have no idea as to how to unlock the camera's to use as IP cams. I'd gladly donate to someone who has figured out how to unlock these cameras for PVR use.

Please help myself and any other Vava Cam Pro users who want to salvage their systems.

Home cameras

Looking to have 2-3 cameras installed in my new home. I would like them hardwired and to be able to have notifications sent to me if it detects motion. I had blink cameras on my old house, but want something much better quality and better capability. I've done some searching and have yet to really find anything that I'd like. Looking for recommendations. Also, Looking for some kind of driveway doorbell system if anyone has knowledge of them.

Recommendation for ENHANCE methods?... neighbor robbed, pretty sure I have the suspect vehicle on 2k soffit cam

Attached neighbor of our duplex mistakenly left their garage open, and they were robbed last night. Pretty sure I found the time range (a vehicle "slow rolls" our cul de sac without stopping, then a minute later, I see a shadow and shoulder of a person waling up their driveway - just along along our property line).

Given the number of frames the truck is in view, I wonder if I can get a plate for the police? However my only experience in this type of multi-frame is with ImageStacker (used for astrophotography). Or do police typically just ask for the raw footage?

Slight blessing is I just (2 months ago) upgraded that soffit camera to 4k, so many more pixels for the CSI "zoom & enhancements"...

Kicking myself for not angling the front soffit camera to cover their property more, I thought I was giving them privacy by cutting it off right at the property line between the duplex. :(
