On Pigmy Hippos, Agression and Moo Deng

Hi, everyone.

Like many others, Moo Deng has me under the pigmy hippo spell. The thing is, I'm concerned some of the behaviours that make her so damn cute now that she's a little rebel will make her dangerous when she's older, and I fear she'll go the way of Harambe some day.

What do you know about pigmy hippo agression? Does it persist into adulthood? Should her wardens try to suppress her unquenchable thirst for violence?

During the 1943 siege of Leningrad, Belle the hippo survived thanks to her caretaker, Yevdokia Dashina. When the city’s water supply was cut in 1941, leaving Belle’s pool dry, Dashina carried a 40-liter barrel of water daily from the Neva River to bathe her and prevent skin cracking.
