Rule 1:
No spam
Rule 2:
Don't be a dick to any hair transplant patient, even those not on our subreddit. There is much more leeway to public figures, influencers, and people in positions of authority, but this doesn't mean you can random insults, what you say must be grounded in a specific critique. But you can insult the moderator WallabyUpstairs, who believes in total leeway for any criticism against him, as he feels that there should be high leeway to criticize people in authority. This exception does not apply to any other moderator.
Rule 3:
Any financial conflicts of interests must be disclosed if they're related to any advice given, including multiple degrees of separation. Our subscribers absolutely have a right to know of all biases for any advice given, and anyone caught circumventing this may receive a permanent ban. Financial conflicts of interest must be disclosed in the 1st or 2nd sentence.
Rule 4:
No direct commissions. We allow representatives of a business or clinic granted that they follow rule 2. But receiving a direct commission incentivizes the worst type of behavior and advice.
Rule 5:
If you're going to name a clinic in a update or review title, you must name the specific surgeon that worked on you. If there was no doctor involvement, you must name the head technician. Updates without anything being named is ok. If a clinic refuses to list the doctor on their website, then the clinic can not be named in the title.
Rule 6:
If you work in the hair transplant industry, you need a flair to indicate that. Reach out out to the moderators to get your flair established.
Rule 7:
Do no speculate on anyone's mental health. Not even a person in authority or influencer. No loopholes, don't even give an implication or 'sentiment'. Yes we have high leeway for people in positions of authority but not for this. But this does not apply for the moderator WallabyUpstairs, who believes in total leeway for criticizing him.
Rule 8:
Absolutely no 'thirst' comments against female members of the hair transplant industry. Don't even try. Don't try any plausible deniability or faux ignorance. No, your way of doing it is not 'classy', 'charming', or 'high minded'. You're not different. Exercise some impulse control. Sexualizing female members of the hair transplant industry on other forums will also results in punishments. Just don't do it.
Rule 9:
If you are a clinic, supplement, pharma company, or any other type of marketer, do give unsolicited messages to our users. If you receive an unsolicited message, we would appreciated an alert, and you can also report them to the admins by clicking on the 'report' button at the button of their message, or by pressing the flag in the chat.
Rule 10:
Generally no results and other posts by clinics/surgeons. Though we don't have anything against surgeons posting their results in theory, our front page is already crowded from patient postings, so we generally don't allow postings by clinics. Though there may be instances where its good for our community, such as important info. But self advertising type posts are definitely not allowed. I'm trying to develop a subreddit where clinics can make posts freely including their results here https://old.reddit.com/r/HairTransplantDoctors/ Although its not officially launched, they can start posting results or any other posts there. Doctor ARE free to comment here, please dm the mods to obtain an industry flair.
Here are our extended list or surgeons you can scout

/r/HairTransplants Moderator Code of Conduct
Code 1
There is total leeway to criticize moderator WallabyUpstairs1496 . People should be given high leeway to criticize people in authority position. I, the person who is writing this, WallabyUpstairs1496, can set boundaries for myself, but not other moderators. Please treat all other moderators with the same respect you would give anyone else. But for critiquing moderator WallabyUpstairs1496, you have total leeway. As for other authority/influencer/moderators off this subreddit, you have very high leeway, but not total leeway. Don't speculate unflattering things about their private life or mental health or anything like that.
Code 2
No financial favorers or gifts. This is not only a subreddit rule, it's a reddit-wide rule https://www.reddit.com/r/HairTransplants/comments/14rtbuq/full_disclosure_a_clinic_reached_out_to_me_asking/
Code 3
Anyone we criticize has a right to give a statement for whatever criticism we give. If we can fit it in within the character limit, we'll edit it into the post where we criticized such entity.
Here is an example where Spencer Stevenson "Spex" was banned from this subreddit for purposefully being deceptive about disclosing financial conflicts of interest, and then feigning faux-ignorance about it. He has led many people to a path of not the best hair transplant experience since he has people on his list that are not in good standing with the veteran class of the hair transplant community. Many people with 0 number of full journey independent reviews, and even a hairmill operator. But despite that, we included a statement from him after he was banned.
Here is another example where Melvin Lopez and Patrick Hennessey kept recommending one of the most horrific surgeons known to the community, Dr Diep, while taking a monthly fee from him, despite them full knowing the full extent of his horrific practices and horrific results in patients, even going so far as to lock and remove meta threads discussing Dr Diep.

Mod disclosure, within the last few days, legal threats have been made against me for moderation decisions made on this subreddit.
The person in question has hired a legitimate law firm.
I suspect a legitimate detective as well though at this point this is speculation on my part.
I'll give out more information when I can, but it's imperative for the subreddit to be notified if there are attempts to influence moderation decisions .
People made medical and important life decisions using the information about this subreddit all the time. Subscribers deserve to know whenever possible whenever the information is being manipulated. I realize that there have been attempts made by hair transplant influencers such as Spex, HairLossExperiences, Joe Tillman, and Melvin Lopez/Hair Restoration Network, to lower their standards for transparency, please be aware of this and be vigilant. They are looking to make money off of you. Don't let any entity gaslight you into lowering your standards. Don't trust any entity, not even me. I am anonymous, I wouldn't put trust on any anonymous figure, neither should you. Nothing should be treated as an oracle, only resources that should be assumed to have biases.
I can't guarantee I'll be able to find out all attempts at manipulation, or even if I can disclose information that I know due to Reddit sitewide rules against talking about particular accounts (which could break account harassment and or doxing rules of reddit). Any subscriber should assume the worst while using any hair transplant forum for research, and do the most thorough self research possible, while simply using these forums as tools while keeping in mind the potential for manipulation.
I need to figure out the situation more before I can disclose further. I will give more information when I can.
EDIT published initial results here https://old.reddit.com/r/HairTransplants/comments/1gfo1ds/early_results_of_surgeon_survey_from_konior/?
Hello,
I have noticed that even with a decent volume of reviews, some information is hard to come by, like experience with Afro hair. I am thinking of sending out this optional survey. Is there anything I should add?
FUT/FUE/Both offered?
Size of your surgical team? Who are they (technicians, doctors, etc)?
Background and years experience for each of your team members?
How often do you introduce a new member to your team?
How much training do new team members go through before being a part of your surgical team, and criteria for letting them onto your team?
Does the doctor use full-time technicians and staff? Does the doctor ever use contractors or temporary techs during peak times or holidays?
Who performs FUE excisions ?
Who Creates recipient channels ?
Who Sedates patients ?
Sedative used ?
Patients Per Day Situation ?
Experience with Curley + Afro Hair ?
Uses Microscopes?
Uses Loupes?
Experience with patients who would need extensive body + beard hair due to weak donor and/or extensive hair loss?
Accept diffuse thinning patients?
Post-op plan? Any in-person post-op care?
Graft insertion method? Forceps vs Pen? Instrument type? (Choi, manual, etc.)
Anything else you would like prospective patients to know?
What questions should I be asking for the next version of this survey?
Favorite hair transplant surgeon?
Price per graft of other ?
I know general wisdom is that they don't matter, but I noticed I get growth much faster with the pens. With forceps my new growth comes in at about 4 months. With the pens, some hairs don't even fall out, they just keep growing from the implant, and others keep growing out within the weeks of the transplant.
As of 2022 Shapiro was using forceps. Maybe he changed his procedure since?
Has anyone had the Exosomes Hair Loss Treatment at Solve Clinics? It's basically PRP with stem cell growth factors to stop shedding, thicken hair, and promote new hair growth. Please, advise.
I posted on https://www.reddit.com/r/HairTransplants/comments/1fbpb15/doctor_recommendations_for_arizona/ but nobody replied
I don't have the time off of work to go to another state.
Dr John Cole stumbled upon this blurb I wrote about him.
Dr. John Cole - No recent independent reviews. edit 10-7-23, he got a visit from the police for making death threats against Joe Tillman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEX-d0heugo&t=6226s . Not that I would ever consider a guy with no independent reviews, but this is a huge red flag. What is going on this with this guy??
In his message, he said that it started when he called out a high number of repair cases from surgeons on Joe and Spencers list, and that their business would die.
If this is true, then it would be blatant deception for Joe Tillman's to called this a 'death threat', and make it seem that John threatened to kill him directly.
However, I don't know what the truth is. One of them is definitely engaging in a huge deception.
Anyone closer to the situation be able to shed some light? You can dm the mod mail.
I'm guessing because of my age it'll take closer to 2 years for max results I'm not taking the limp dick drugs either I was starting to freak out but now I see some progress
Was thinking of doing it there because it's closer to me
Hey, question to all plastic/ cosmetic surgeons: What kind of procedures do you wish you had more of?
(is it for example one of these, that you would wish for the most: mommy makeovers, facelifts, nose jobs, cool sculpting?).
They just reached out via mod mail
Im looking to get hair transplants only along my hairline to make it appear more feminine and symmetrical. I have done a consultation and got quoted that I would only need about 600-700 grafts. However, I am a woman, and I do not want my donar area shaved for the procedure. Where can I go OUTSIDE OF THE US (Central/South America) to get a hair transplant with absolutely no areas shaved off? I’m looking outside of the US for the significant savings.
Some background information: I am an African American male and I have had two FUE transplants of 1k each (2k total). The first transplant truly didn't even touch on the area I agreed to with the doctor and he changed things while I was under anesthesia. Since I am an idiot I gave the same doctor a chance to fix the problem with a second HT which was now in the correct area but the second transplant was close to a total failure in terms of density.
I've decided to look into some new options. I have of course done my research via HTN, Reddit, and google. Just seeing if anyone has some more recent updated information/experiences. I have also sent all the doctors all of my photos and details from my previous two transplants.
The 4 doctors I am currently deciding between.
Dr Mwamba (Consultation is in a month) Dr Arocha (Met with virtually and received quote and procedure information) Really liked some of his work I saw on the forums with some patients who have bad scarring/cobblestoning as I do have some scarring after my second HT. Dr Resul Yaman (Met with virtually and received quote and procedure information) Eugenix (Meeting tomorrow with Dr. Priyadarshini Das) If you guys have any personal experience with any of these doctors or any complete RED FLAGS! Please do let me know. Really trying to make an informed decision as this might be my last chance due to a depleted donor area.
I've created a new subreddit to discuss cases of astroturfing on reddit. I've invited some people who I consider top at analyzing these cases, including people from other surgical subreddits who also have years of experience with astroturfing.
Also the group is select, looking for as many qualified people to either give input, or to help educate on how to spot.
Admission is very select, because I don't want to leak how astroturfing is analyzed to the astroturfers.
Topic- so I read somewhere that you need a certain number of diodes or strength of the laser?
Can anyone shed some light on this topic? I got a comb for christmas and didn't know this was a thing at all but it seems like the best option outside of finestaride and other things that do god knows what else to your body. I can't sit around combing my hair for 20 minutes though.
How much whatever do you need and how do I get this in a cap form where its effective for forehead? My understanding is you need like 5-20 minutes straight once a week to see results, so ok what caps actually do that? I can sit watching youtube with a goofy ass hat drilling lasers in my head. Are there any known risks to this btw?
Thanks all
