Ghost in the Shell is a futuristic, police/noir thriller, set around the mid-21st Century, dealing with the reality of corporate power structures, and cyber terrorism, against a backdrop of technological advancement, and transhumanist cyberisation, in a Neo-Japanese state.
The narrative follows the covert operations division of the Japanese National Public Security Commission Section 9. Ghost in the Shell expands its scope beyond the narrative by exploring many rich Philosophical, Economic, Social, and Political themes. With a weighting on Existentialism and Humanism, Consumerism, economic class disparity, Industrial political corruption, and Politically radicalised splinter groups.

On my Blue Ray (Manga Entertainment version) of S.A.C season 1 there are interviews with the staff and at the end they always show a teaser for the next interview. And these episodes always end with the same music.
I couldn't really make out what song they are using or if it's part of the normal ost at all (I think I am just being stupid here to be honest) and I would like to ask if anyone knows what song it is.
So I already watched both seasons of S.A.C and the final movie, and I wanted to know if there are any differences between the summary movies Laughing Man and Individual Eleven and their original counter part (like animation wise or extra scenes maybe missing scenes) or if it's only worth it if I only want to watch the whole Laughing Man or Individual Eleven arc as one thing?
I have completed my stand alone complex collection today, receiving solid state society… or so I thought. Apparently 2045 is really good and part of the sac canon, but the only physical release I could find was the extremely expensive Japan exclusive limited edition box set, and this eBay listing. But it seems kinda fishy, I don’t know if it’s legit or not, and wanted to ask people here if they know about this or if they have a physical copy of the 2045 series.
I've just remembered a moment from Doctor Who: The Sontaran Stratagem that might be a nod to the 1995 film
I'm talking things like storage capacity, bandwidth, processing speed, or RAM.
I've only ever seen the anime's and don't recall any references along these lines.
Is there anything in the manga's that even refer to an amount of information, kilo-mega-terabyte?
How do you think the different characters specs differ? Think Saito vs the Major vs a Tachicoma.
Just finished watching Ghost in the Shell(1995), fuckin brilliant film if you might ask, and then when on my Letterboxd to put down a rating(4 stars) and after I’m done doing my long ass review I notice the poster for the movie. Now I had literally just stopped watching the movie a minute ago and did not remember seeing this guy/girl so, who is this person and what do they represent?
At the beginning I wanted to write that I checked my previous topics in that query. It's been a year since the last one appear, and it doesn't really apply to my current query.
I'm looking for all the tracks that didn't appear on the last 1-4/Be Human/SSS.
I am aware of the existence of some tracks on Sound Cloud, but the uploader himself noted that he was limited by the overall compilation time.
I checked the links to download packages from old posts, unfortunately, apart from the mentioned SC, all of them are cold.
So, does anyone here have information on how to download as many of them as possible?
It's a pity that such a compilation got lost in the depths of the Internet. I've been looking for these pieces on and off since I saw SAC for the first time. This music is simply timeless.
I was scrolling through MetaPathos' imgur post (apparently he's one of us too). And he added this merch. I first thought it was CGI art, but man did this figure fool me.
Anyone who knows more about?
In the US theaters the French animated film "Mars Express" is currently showing. It is a sci-fi noir. It is another take on a cybernetic future where robots and androids are part of everyday life, and nice world building - for example, showing how autodrive cars would work and be safe - at a price. Influences from GITS are there (>!brain farming gear resembles the gear used in GITS for deep dives, direct brain to brain conversations, augmented senses!<)
What type of education do you think one would require to operate the technology of GITS?😭 like IT or something along those lines?
I found out that Masamune Shirow made an artbook(?) series called galgrease.
Are these only artbooks, or are there short stories inside?
Couldnt find out much just that they made some figurines called galhhound, said to be from the books.
Any Ideas?
In Gits 2045, after she is ressurected by the Tachikomas (the mayor), Ezaki Purin gets into the VW-Bus of that one boy to get to where the "action" is. Is the cosplay costume she finds, and wears, in the bus some sort of refference to another anime/manga?
I watched the 95 movie recently, and Batou's and Aramki's conversation about the major's strange behaviour got me thinking that the puppet master ghosthack her before the movie even started. The more I thought about it, the more I asked, "Why wouldn't the puppetmaster?" The puppet master was designed with the singular purpose of industrial espionage and intelligence manipulation; this programming would form the basis of his Sentience, much like how we all have tendencies from our own biology. If the puppet master truly wanted to merge with a human to surpass their own limitations, why wouldn't he use the methods he was expected to use and excel in?
Dr. Willis, head of the 2501 project, has an odd comment during the car ride with Nakamora about why the puppetmaster went to Section 9: "Maybe he has the hots for someone there?" The puppetmaster makes it clear he has been observing her later, when Motoko dives into his shell.
Puppet Master: "I am so glad to channel into you at last; I have invested so much time." Motoko: "You where look for me?" Puppet Master: "Long before my notoriety, I was well aware of you. Through the various networks you have accessed, I also learned of Section 9." (I'm referring to the dubbed version here.)
Given Dr. Willis's comment, I suspect this wasn't ordered but independent behaviour by the puppetmaster that Willis noticed. But why Motoko? He states that he sees him and Motoko as mirror images in their desire to transcend their boundaries. the puppetmaster desiring varied digital blueprints to create "offspring" from and from their uniqueness: death. Motoko, meanwhile, desires to overcome her physical limitations.
This brings me back to that question: why wouldn't the puppetmaster ghosthack her and implant these desires to achieve his own? He isn't human. We can expect him follow human morality and expectations as much we can expect cats or dogs, Which opens up a whole tin of worms: Does the puppetmaster see rewriting people's memories as a violation or as trivial as changing code in a program? If he is genuinely infatuated with Motoko, would that make her an exception to his hacking? Are his actions no more a choice than those of a scorpion that stings the frog that's carrying him across the river?
I have the Blu-ray of the movie and wonder of getting the 4K is worth getting. For those that have bought the 4K dvd, is it worth it and what have you notice in terms of quality.
Update: is 4K with it?
Someone called "Kid Atari" has made a """""""""""""remix""""""""""" (added a bit of percussion in the middle) of Making of a Cyborg and has probably made thousands of dollars off Youtube alone over the years.
Please tweet @teamyoutube and complain about this open thievery. It's making my blood boil that some random clown is stealing the royalties every time someone uses this beautiful soundtrack on Youtube. Report any instance of "Intro- kid atari" you can find on any platform.
Fucking morally bankrupt thieves.
I want to collect the full manga for the franchise but I'm getting confused. Can someone give me a breakdown of the order and which manga I need to get ?
