Hi y’all! I’m a new momma (had our sweet daughter 7 months ago) and would greatly appreciate some advice on what to do with my hair at this point. I’m just coming out of the postpartum shedding stage and feel a little insecure about the state of my hair. Any advice on the length, style, and color would be much appreciated! Thank y’all in advance!
I’m considering getting a new hairstyle and thinking about curtain bangs, but I’m not sure if they’ll suit my face Any suggestions?
The first photo shows how my hair usually looks. The second photo is a picture of my hair without the outer layer.
Hello! I’m feeling really frustrated with my hair and I thought Reddit would be a good place to seek some serious advice. I hope someone can help me! 😊
Here’s the situation: I used to think my hair was too wavy or curly, so I’ve been following a wavy hair routine to manage the frizz. But honestly, it just doesn’t feel right. My hair seems overwhelmed by the routine and gets greasy way too quickly.
I’ve noticed that the only part that gets really curly is the outer layer. The hair underneath is wavy but not excessively, maybe like an A2? It's also shiner and softer. On the other hand, the outer layer feels so dry and damaged, and I struggle to keep it under control. While the wavy routine helps form curls, they don’t last long and end up frizzy. It’s really frustrating since I’ve taken great care of my hair this whole year and nothing seems to work! I haven’t used chemicals or heat, and I don’t spend too much time in the sun, so I’m not sure what’s going on.
I’ve been convincing myself for a long time that my hair is wavy-curly, but when I see others rock it, it looks amazing! However, when I try it on myself, it just doesn’t feel or look right. I’m starting to think my outer layer might be damaged, but I’m not sure what to do about it.
I even asked my stylist for advice, but they seemed a bit clueless, which just made me more frustrated. With two break months before college, I really want to repair my hair before starting classes!
If you have any advice or ideas, I’d really appreciate it. I’m feeling quite sad and not my best about this! Thank you
Hello, I’m looking for advice about my hair. It’s long, the very ends of my lengths reach my hips. It’s also curly/wavy, both complete and incomplete ringlets form when wet. It’s very thin but I experience minimal fallout. My biggest problem is how much it tangles, it doesnt matter what I do, my hair forms extremely tight mats around my neck. It takes a very long time to detangle it gently and I do procrastinate washing it because of how long it takes to detangle. I detangle dry with a tangle teaser from bottom to top. I do this very gently to try to reduce breakage, but there is still severe breakage all over my head. I use absolutely no heat/ do not bleach or dye. It infuriates me that I still have this much breakage. I do cut my split ends off semi regularly, it helps with the tangling but still doesnt prevent it the mats around my neck.
Because it is curly, it looks pretty bad brushed out. Just an awful frizzy mess. So I’m also struggling with keeping it brushed, because it just looks horrible when it’s brushed out. It also gets tangled even worse after it’s brushed out, having it in curls helps but then I still get the neck mats. Getting it damp does not really fix it and I can’t get it soaking wet or it will take 5+ hours to dry and I get cold easily. I guess this means it’s low porosity? I used to do a curl routine and it looked alright, but brushing it would absolutely ruin it and then I would end up with severe mats and tangles after about 3 days of not brushing the curls. So I just stopped doing the curl routine and now I just do braid waves. They still get tangled and frizzy after I brush the tangles out and so I’ve just accepted that my hair looks bad half of the time.
I’m so done with trying curl routines and oils and products and ending up with the same result, an oily scalp and super super dry and damaged ends. I know to use a clarifying shampoo sometimes but not too often. I know that too many silicones and proteins causes buildup but I just NEED something that will moisturize my lengths without causing all the buildup. I really need advice, Im at the end of my rope at how to deal with this MESS.
My hair is thick and in between wavy and curly. The bottom is curly but the top is mainly just waves. My hair is just above shoulder length as of now and I am able to tie it into a ponytail. The main problem is that when I tie my hair into a ponytail, the sides are ALWAYS creeping out like one big thick ball and I HATE IT. Also, when I leave my hair out and I just bend down, it goes insane. Like (no offense, just saying how my hair looks) I literally look like I have a giant, poofy afro and it's not like I'm magically going to get a brush from space. How on earth do I thin it out? Heatless please as well, I'm sensitive when my hair gets heated.
I've been thinking about getting a long shag or mullet (some inspo pics after the first 2), but I'm not sure if it'll look good with my face shape (big forehead and long chin), or if it'll be hard to style since I have straight asian hair. I've tried short chin-length hairstyles in the past, but everyone i know agrees that long hair looks better, and I currently have side bangs that are stuck in a stubborn off-center part. I also had a fringe in the past, but it didn't work well. I don't mind getting a perm as I've never tried one before :P Any advice would be great!
I like this one the most since it seems closest to my current hairstyle
This one would need a perm but i'm not sure what the perm is called
I am 31F and my hair has always been super thick and soft. For about six months my hair has slowly thinned with a lot coming out every time I brush it but not only that- when I wash my hair in the shower as soon as I get out from under the water my hair feels dry to touch. It’s driving me crazy. I’ve tried washing twice and deep conditioning. Does anyone have product suggestions or even any type of suggestions because I’d love for my hair to go back to how it was before. Thanks so much in advance.
Does my current hair color work for me?
Hi so i recently bleached my own hair at home for the first time. My hair has been bleached once before and since then i have used semi permanent dyed because i like changing the colors. The last time i used this dye was 7 months ago and i decided today i would attempt bleaching my hair again. I have just taken a section out of my braided hairstyle and i attempted to the bleach. I did this once for 30 minutes and my roots were blonde yet my ends were a bright reddish pink color and i dont understand what went wrong or what i did wrong. I did another section for 45 and it didnt even lift the majority of it (would could be due to improper application) but im just curious if anyone might have any advice on what to do to lift my hair color.
I have fine hair, but a lot of it. I'm trying to grow my hair and I find every 3 months I have to cut off at least an inch of dried out deadness. Which really isn't helping with my hair getting long. I know your hair texture can change every few years and now that I'm in my mid thirties it does know what he's doing anymore and it seems to be breaking easily. I don't use a blow dryer, I don't go to sleep with my hair wet, I use Redken soft and I always use a leave-in conditioner. And I'll be honest, I don't brush my hair very often because it doesn't get tangled. I have silk pillow cases and if I put my hair back, I use a silk scrunchie. The ends of my hair have always been very dry. I've read a lot of people recommend applying oil to your ends. Have you found a specific oil/brand that helped protect your ends? Or kept them moisturized?
I'm planning on doing the following styles:
I'm debating Luxy vs Bellami extensions since the sales are on. I'm having a hard time deciding on length (18 vs 20) and type (Bellami silk seam vs classic, for example). Either way, I'm thinking off black. Anyone have any recommendations for these brands (or any other brands that have natural human hair)?
I'm 31F, I've had quite a bit of hairfall in the recent past due to colouring my hair multiple times. I've done it since my teens and it never really affected my hair much but I guess it's finally catching up to me. I've now decided to give it a break and let my hair breath for awhile. Also, I've heard a lot about derma stamping and wanted advice from anyone who's done it - brands to use, precautions, care before/after, etc. Would be great to also get dietary advice for hair regrowth - foods to consume/avoid. Thanks!
I need hairstyle ideas that'll suit my face because I don't really know what would suit me. It's like, wavy and thick? I honestly don't know though and I'm curious to see what hair styles would suit me or not.
I have thick, straight hair. For some reason in the last year or so, my hair MATTS when I wash it. Not before, but when I wash it with shampoo and it’s wet. What do I do?!?
I’ve tried:
Help! :(
My mom has really long straight and thick hair and it is super hard for her to brush it, each hairbrush she tries doesn’t properly brush it or it just rips her hair out, what is the best brush for her hair?
Hi all, I currently have long thick hair mid way between my shoulder and elbow. My nautal colour is dark brown. Currently I have subtle highlights through it.
I have been suffering hair loss due to stress and am seeing this as a time for change. My hair is very think and naturally wavy, I have it professionally straightened.
I am considering a much shorter cut. I am 40 but look younger and I have a slim face.
My problem is my morning routine is busy leaving little time for hair!
My current go to is a ponytail which is as quick as it gets. But as a result I am getting a lot of breakage around my hairline as a result.
I have had bob's before but they are more work on a busy morning than I want.
So my problem is if I go short how short am i going to need to go to be able to have a very low maintainance style.
I am after some real world examples please, I am open to all options but please only comment if they are styles you have had, have cut for clients or styles people you know have and you know what the maintainance and upkeep are. Pictures are more than welcome.
Thanks in advance! X
Okay so my wife has had problems with her scalp for a while and i really want to help her fix it because it would make me happy. Shes tried Nizoral but that stuff didnt work. Shes gotten shampoo prescribed to her but also didnt work. I finally stumbled on T/sal shampoo by neutrogena and it was AMAZING it literally helped her so much but only for about 2-3 months then it stopped working for her :(. I ordered her a Jolie shower head in hopes that it would at least help a bit but i need something for her. I really wanna make her scalp feel better for her but it feels like shes tried everything. Apple cider vinegar rinses, coconut oil/all types of oils, all these things didnt help. T/Sal was the only thing that helped for a while but i need something pls help me reddit :(
