Apologies for missing the last few weekends, but all of the streamed races were on YouTube so I just linked to them instead. This weekend, all of the streamed races are based in the United States.
Starting with the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), the Ford Performance NHRA Nationals are taking place at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fall Las Vegas race is always a busy race. It serves not only as the penultimate race for the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, but also as the season finale for Pro Mod, Mountain Motor Pro Stock, and Factory X. Also taking place this weekend is the Summit Racing Series National Championship, the championship race for NHRA member track bracket racing programs.
Over on the east coast, the 28th annual World Cup Finals: Import vs. Domestic, a long-running and particularly popular independent drag race over the years, is in progress at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, Maryland. The event features big driver names in doorslammer racing and classes that allow a wide range of vehicles and combinations. Outlaw vs Extreme, Renegade vs Modified, X275 vs Hot Rod, All Motor, and XFWD are some of the more well-known classes.
In big money bracket racing action, the GALOT 250, organized by FTR Events, is running this weekend at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, North Carolina. The event runs on Friday and Saturday with $20,000 to win each day, with entries capped at 250 for both days.
The American Nostalgia Racing Association (ANRA) will conclude its season this weekend with the Fuel & Gas Finals at Famoso Dragstrip in Bakersfield, California. Several points championships are still up for grabs, with particularly close chases in the Nostalgia Eliminator classes, A/Gas, and Hot Rod.
Finally, in the drag boat racing scene, the National Jet Boat Association (NJBA) will finish its 2024 season with the West Coast Finals at Lake Ming in Bakersfield, California, not far from where ANRA is racing. The Unblown Fuel Jet, Pro Comp Flat, and Pro Outlaw classes look like they have some nice points battles going on.

Birdman loses the chutes he is out and ok
First time poster here, i’ve got a question on the old thinker that i’d really like to get to the bottom of. I was wondering what percentage of quarter mile races are decided/won or lost by the time the cars make it to the 1/8th mile.
You always hear old times saying stuff like, “Every drag race is won or lost in the first 60’” or 330’ or whatever. Has anybody ever done the research on it or just crunched a few numbers? I’ve tried googling various phrases to get an answer and no luck!
TL;DR: What percentage of drag races are determined halfway through?
TIA!!
Hi all - looking for some help figuring out next steps for my build regarding tires.
I have a 65 Chevy Belair that I built with my pops the last couple years, with a 396 small block from Blueprint Engines (dyno’d at 510 hp and 535 torque), TH400 trans w trans brake, 373 Richmond gears in the rear.
Took her to the track for the first time ever this past Sunday with the current tires (Nitto NT555 G2 summer tires) and she just won’t stick off the launch.
I’m looking for any advice on adjustments I can make to my current tires (PSI, burnout box tips, etc) to get a better result this coming Sunday which is the last day of the season.
Will also take any recommendations people can make on slicks/tires to get prior to next season that will help me sit and stick off the launch. Hoping to stay around 15 inch rim with 28/10.5 or so to stay considered small tire but not really important.
Thank you in advance!!
Anybody have a link? Not trying to pay $50 just to watch this event
I originally bought 2 tickets for Saturday, my dad got called in to work OT. Does anyone wanna tag along with me? I'm coming from Smyrna Delaware.
I have an 01 Sierra Regular Cab Short Box 2wd that I'm looking at getting set up. Looking for Wheel/tire sizes. Just wondering if anyone else is running a NBS Chevy/GMC and what you are running. TIA
Not sure if I’m allowed to do this but I messaged the mod already and it looks like he hasn’t been active in a year? I have two General admission tickets for World Cup Finals this weekend Saturday and Sunday ! I started a new job and I’m unable to attend this year. I Will let them go for cheap. Thanks.
What is the canned spray that is sprayed into cars with a blower, or turbo to help them get started?
