So, I made a purchase on a tape on the 10th of November. Everything was going very smoothly and then Discogs told me to leave feedback on the item although I didn’t receive it yet. I looked up what this means and I was told to contact the seller. Is this something that happens normally or should I be concerned. Thanks for the help in advance.
I was reading the stuff and It was making me confused. It tells me payment recieved but he hasnt respond in a day. I do get people have things to do tho.
I made a discogs account about a week ago, and yet still I’m unable to message anyone. How long did you all have to wait? Should I just stop checking daily and wait about a month?
Good evening, I have a CD that visually I’d consider VG+, however on one track it does skip about ten seconds. I’m curious what is the highest you should grade a CD that skips a small amount? Thanks.
I've got a proof of concept working here:
https://calculix.feacluster.com/discogs_ebay.php
It will convert only ONE listing in your inventory to a csv file that you can import into eBay. If you run it on your phone then you can use your phone camera to add pictures easily.
Probably will be a bazillion questions and bugs so fire away and I will fix when I get around to it.
The challenge with scaling it to your entire inventory is who is going to pay for all that storage and bandwith? Right now I am running it off a free micro instance from Google cloud . So each user uploading a few pictures it can handle.
Hey r/discogs !
I made a simple Chrome extension to help me bulk buy records from the wantlister. I "needed" an efficient way to grab bargains since I just started collecting.
What it does:
Demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIsyK28-6Z0
If you're interested, I can polish it up and publish it. I'm also open to suggestions for additional features you’d like in this "Discogs-Plus" extension.
Let me know your thoughts!
Edit:
Removing things from UI is also easy, saw this https://www.reddit.com/r/discogs/comments/1go1mvu/new_collection_view_pointless_wasted_space/ and agreed, so added hiding of "My collection heading". Not sure how it will work on mobile, should be ok with Android I think.
Edit 2: Paid Google the 5$ to be able to publish to chrome web store. Extension coming soon to a browser near you.
Hi, so I recently order a very pricey vinyl $150+ and it just arrived today but the box came very creased and when opening it the vinyl had a huge a spilt seam on it the bottom which caused the vinyl to poke out and the first disc is pretty warped. Is there anyway usps can give me money for this since it’s clearly their fault and not the sellers? What do u guys usually do in this situation?
Hi. I’ve been using Discogs since 2010 to buy, but have never used it to sell or catalogue any of my collection. Decided it’s now the right time to sell.
I started cataloguing my collection over the last couple of days with the intention to sell. After this, will I have to relist each item for sale individually or is there a way to export my collection to listings for sale with the same data?
Is it even worth cataloguing? Or should I just start listing them as items for sale directly?
Thanks
Somebody saw this before? Looks Fake
i'm importing cds from japan to italy and i have 2 questions.
2)the shipping increases with every item for some reason, even though it's all from the same seller.
i would like if you guys had some tips on how i could save money possibly because this is just too much.
thanks
I wrote a tool that can convert your discogs inventory into a csv spreadsheet that eBay can import. As a proof of concept, it converted this listing:
https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/3078045265
to this on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/326357489914
It can either use stock images or you can add your own. Wondering if others might find this useful? Don't want to spend too much time on this if there is not much interest.
Edit: Just clarifying it is not ready for other users to use. Need to invest a lot of time to make it ready for that. Hence, gauging the interest first before doing so..
For years I have only sold on discogs. But now my inventory is dominated by "unwanted junk" as all the good stuff has sold. So hoping that by putting on eBay also I might increase some sales.. Not holding my breath though...
how long does a refund take normally from a seller and does it go to my paypal or the card i used on paypal?
if you know please reply! thanks!
As of November 27th, USPS and Royal Mail are not accepting shipments to Canada. Shipments can still be sent using UPS or other private services.
I've noticed a huge chunk of records that mention conservative grading in the listings notes have arrived in lesser quality than listed. For example, it'll be listed as VG+ but be plastered in light scratches that cause a fair amount of noise. Like ticks, and constant crackle. Something id typically consider VG.
I haven't really reached out to sellers over it, because it seems to be expected when they go out of their way to mention "Graded Conservatively" or "Conservative Grading"
Edit: Thanks everyone, im just going to start returning items that dont match and I'll hold anything with that in the notes to a higher standard.
When I click on an artist or a label, I want to see the items I own by that artist or label directly on the main page. Is it possible to see exactly which releases I own? I know I can see the collection icon on the right as I scroll through the releases but I want to just see my collection for that artist / label.
And there's been so many terrible updates that that's saying something... absolutely useless, just makes a double notification for every message bar offers received.
A quick tale and vent from a full time seller going into the Wednesday before Thanksgiving with a deleted inventory.
Had a great day Monday with 34 orders and Tuesday I had 2. Turns out about 80% of my listings although “for sale” we’re not showing publicly. Did the usual fixes, fresh bulk inventory refresh, shipping policy toggle, manual unlist/ relist, even opened a ticket. Didn’t get a reply. I emailed the team lead - out of office until next week.
So I set another bulk action to delete permanently with the intention of re-uploading a fresh CSV, deleting the previously used item numbers. Nothing happened. I waited a couple more hours and did the manual unlist and relist (250 at a time) and that worked. I had a few hours of my listing # matching my inventory #.
Until about 1am and all of the inventory was deleted from a bulk action initiated 8 hours before. I reuploaded a new inventory and it’s been pending for about 5 hours. Support has contacted me and said it is a “known problem” and inventory changes are running extremely slow.
So I urge you sellers of discogs - be really careful with your inventory these next few days. Not a promising start to the “busy” season.
if an order was created for an item so that it is no longer showed for sale but a payment hasn’t been made yet will there still be a sales history for it or only if a payment goes through?
I tried buying a record from a brand new seller. I kept getting an error when trying to pay. It also said "payee account is locked or closed." I messaged the seller with no response. After a few days I made a "seller won't respond" case. But now I got an email saying if I don't pay within a day I'll get negative feedback and my order cancelled. What should I do? Try to cancel it right now or wait it out? Thanks.
Hi, I never used discogs before. Some days ago I created an account I put my address in my account to see how much the shipping cost would be (didn't even put the floor number)... I put some cool CDs in my basket just because I thought they were cool but I just forgot about it. But today I received a package with the CDs and I didn't even pay for them, and I don't know why... How does that work? I didn't want to buy it now because I had no money, so now I don't know what I should do now... I'm the website it just says invoice sent and the seller just sent me a text saying "sent it". Feels like now I'm forced to pay for something I didn't want to buy
Just left post office with unshipped records and went to Ups. Media mail should be included in those types of destinations and I thought it was.
However, i was told that these locations are only receiving priority mail. Went to Ups and was told essentially the same thing so I just shipped it and ate the charges not worth my time to fight over $17. The total was 23.40.
My question is how would you protect yourself from this happening again in sellers terms/shipping terms. I can't sustain covering that each time but this seemed like an outlier situation.
Did discogs change their inventory system? I used to be able to call up my inventory and it would show all the selling prices and also the recently sold prices. This way I could change prices based on demand. Can this not be done anymore? I don't see a way now.
How do I pay in euros even though I am located in the US? I want to buy some cassettes from over seas but the money is in euros, it gives me a $ equivalent but when I go to checkout it is in euros so how do I pay?
I have a vinyl collection that’s comprised of a bunch of rare/colored/limited edition releases that are mostly still sealed. I was building a system that never materialized like I was hoping and hung on to the vinyl. It’s time to let it go.
Lots of Mofi (Abraxas 1 step is a big chunk of this), Analogue Productions, Third Man Vault, and Music Matters Jazz. Very 2015.
Whenever I hear people discuss the reality of discogs pricing, it’s always about how the grading process takes a huge chunk. Since I’m dealing with a mostly sealed collection does that get me closer to median?
I’m just trying to figure out what to expect.
Anybody have experience selling reels on Discogs?
I was given a bunch of rock releases by a neighbor who was moving and I have no system to test them out on. They are mold free but I'm looking for a quick little guide on anything I should look for when selling tape I can't test.
Thanks!
