So I was trying to clean up cables cus I live in a very small dorm, but I entirely forgot how sensitive Ethernet cables can be- can they run alongside like this beside an extension cord? I haven’t really seen anything online other than “it’s okay if low voltage” but I will still double check. Haven’t plugged in PC yet or anything- cus then I’ll have to rethink my solution.

I mean if it could cause cable to heat or something.

Work in progress (it's not pretty, I know), I got the cablemanagement basket I ordered and this is where I'm at now. I'm a bit worried if it's dangerous to have all those cables lumped together like that. Any thoughts?

I looked and only found a post a few years old about this. Im building a custom desk and part would be movable. Think an L with a (partially) retractable/slidable short section. Likely travel would be 40-60cm, but total distance is unknown, and I'd rather have something at least 1m of distance so even working with fixed plug/adapters I can place those connections out of the way.

I'd prefer to stick with displayport, although HDMI with 8k support would work. Mostly want to know it'd be useful to have a cable or two that can move with it inside a channel/slot without concern of strange behavior/tangling or buckling in any of the moving pieces as it gets pushed/pulled in and out.

I saw legrand has a pretty solution, but it also has a legrand level high end price tag. Rather not spend $300 for a short video cable run.

I managed to organize the cable in the pc and behind the monitor but I don't know what to do behind the case. I have like 12 cables that just stand there and are very ugly before they go behind the monitor. What did you do with your systems? I am searching for inspiration

I am very happy with my current cable management setup right now. I have a taco tray under my desk and one of those folding spine thingies, so there are practically no visible wires anywhere. This works amazingly when my desk is just my computer. The problem is, I frequently need to have a bunch of loose cables across my desk to charge my phone, my gaming controller, my Airpods, etc. At the time being I just have an Anker USB charging hub stuck to the underside of my desk, and the cables hang loose over the edge.

Does anyone have recommendations for a way to have easy access to charging cables (mostly usb-c but maybe the occasional A/micro/lightning), without adding an ugly spaghetti mess?

Somethings I've considered:

• A wireless charging pad could help with some devices, like my phone and Airpods. But wireless charging is slow, takes up valuable square footage on my desk, and doesn't work for every device.
• Some sort of reeling/retractable cable solution? I've seen a couple of these but they always seem sort of janky. If you've tried one you recommend, I'd love to know.
• Just give up on charging stuff at my desk. Not my favorite option, but I could just keep a charging hub in a cabinet in my office. Might be a good "sweep it under the rug" option

Hi I would like to have some sort of cable management tray to fit an Extension power cord in however i’m unable to get those regular under desk ones due to the structure of my desk. I can’t find any to put on the side of a desk, does anyone have any suggestions?

Unsure if there’s solutions for this, but I would like to mount my computer monitor with a monitor arm on the back of my desk. Only problem is that I have an ultrawide curved monitor (29”) and it doesn’t have a VESA hole pattern on the back. Anything I can do for that? I thought about getting an adapter, but I was worried about how strong they are and if they would even work with a curved monitor.

What are your best cable management principles, rules, goals, policies, 10 commandments, go-tos, basics that have always worked for you, or you swear by?

Looking for advice like how to measure for what lenght of cable you need for a run or trace, when to go with a raceway vs clips. Even guildiance to make it aesthetically pleasing.

For me my goal is:

No cables should be seen.

And because my goal is next to impossible in most situations, my rules are;

If you can't hide all the cable, minimize what is shown to what is functionally necessary. so no loose cables. Wired mouse cables should be minimize. Wired keyboards can have visually appealing cables.

Any cables that are seen must be organized and uniform, and must facilitate cleaning the area.

Cable management devices shouldn't be seen.

Does anyone have any rules they use when organizing their cables? Or if anyone can improve my concepts? That would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe make a list that the mods can add to the sub.

I’m currently looking at buying a mic stand for the Razer Siren mini, VIVO dual monitor VESA Mounts, the VIVO tray that holds the cords to the bottom of the desk, and DELAMU cord hiders in the medium size and white. I think I am probably going to get a UPS for Christmas so I’m going to need a place to put that in the near future but for now I’m just trying to get my current desk set up looking nice. Should I get all of that stuff or should I get something else? Currently my main goal is to take the cords off of the ground as my feet keep hitting them and sometimes the power button which causes the entire computer to turn off. thank you!

I'm thinking of getting some to cable manage all of the USB cables coming from my PC and across my desk but was wondering if these might be too big.

So I've got nine cables coming off my PC. I've been using velcro cable ties which work pretty well. However, the bad part is that, since I've got over a dozen of the ties holding together the bundle of USB cables, it's a pain, not to mention time consuming, to add or remove a cable.

Hey everyone! I’ve noticed that a lot of people (including myself) struggle with keeping their cables organized at home or at work. I find current solutions to take a lot of time and effort to set up. I've seen so many people just accepting the ugly appearance or avoid trying to organize their desks and just try to hide the mess, me included.

Each device snaps to another one through the sides. Just plug in your cable, press the button and you’re done, the cables organize themselves. You could place the device under your desk and use the Vienvo Buttons to control the reeling process wirelessly.

I live in a fairly dingy attic room with no overhead lighting. One outlet (O1) is wired to the light switch so I keep a lamp plugged into that switch, but it doesn’t light the whole room. I have lamps plugged in around the room but I need to go around and manually turn each one on which is super annoying. I would like to be able to turn all of my lamps on with the light switch. I thought about running extension cords around the perimeter of my room to connect all of the lamps to O1, but that generally isn’t a great idea and this is a really old house so idk if I trust the wiring to handle that load anyways. The ideal solution imo would be a wireless transmitter that I can connect to O1 with receivers plugged into O2, O3, etc which will turn on the individual lamps when the transmitter plugged into O1 is turned on. I can’t find anything like this online but I’m sure smth like this must exist. Any thoughts?
