Tried these on a whim because they were on sale. The cookies taste VERY similar to the real thing. The fake cheezits aren't as similar to the original, but they are really good! Very mild, no offensive or weird fake cheese taste.
Found at Sprouts!
Successfully modified this recipe to be DF just by subbing in Country Crock plant butter, Silk unsweetened soy milk, Follow Your Heart sour cream, Violife cream cheese, and FYH cheddar shreds. It reminds me of the Stouffer’s one from the freezer section! Enjoy!
Usually we say F it! and my husband and I go full regular pizza but so far we have been trying to stick it out - extreme weakness for thin crust screamin Sicilian cheese pizza. We love and shop at Giant faithfully. Gave this pizza a go and I have not been able to find ANY dairy-free pizza that is tasty (cheese tends to be the issue) ~ just wanted to give my pizza lovers a fair warning this isn’t good 💔
Hello I started to consume dairy products a while ago, after a long pauke, and noticed that I end up feeling very dehydrated and needing to pee like all the time (regardgless of whether there’s lactose or not in the product). I do have type 1 diabetes, but this is not caused by high blood sugars since my sugars have in fact been as good as or even better as of late.
I just wanted to ask whether anyone else have experienced similar issues from consuming dairy products? I may need to step back from dairy. I’m a bit worried that my bones will shatter from a lack of calcium.
I’m craving Mac & Cheese but haven’t been able to tolerate dairy for six years. I’ve tried Kraft and Annie’s and wasn’t impressed. Am I in for a disappointment or a pleasant surprise??
The new Daiya Mac and Cheese cheddar packet with the gluten free pasta was changed. It was definitely a big downgrade in terms of quality. Very disappointed.
Hello everyone! I’m new to Reddit and have recently found out that I have a gluten intolerance along with my lactose intolerance. It’s become painful enough to where I need to cut out gluten and lactose completely. I’ve found a few snacks and foods I can eat, but I live in a small town and was wondering if someone could recommend a good place online to buy gluten/dairy free foods to be shipped to my home. Thank you so much
There has been a recall of lays chips due to undisclosed milk. There has been a recall of 6,000 13 oz bag of chips. Bags were sold in Oregon and Washington state.
Damn, the gluten free and dairy free people like me can't have anything 😭
Any recipes or pre-made product recommendations for a dairy free clam chowder soup?
I was born with an intolerance to the A1 protein but outgrew it as I got older, I'm 44 and my mum told me about it about 6 months ago so about 3 months ago I decided to avoid dairy and see if I have any health improvements and yes the changes that happened were I lost weight especially on my face and neck I don't have the double chin I used to have, I stopped sweating all the time seriously I was a heavy face sweater, my night time hunger has gone, I'm no longer waking up craving sweets.
But now if I have the slightest bit of dairy I bloat up massively get nausea and extreme gas doesn't matter how much I eat even just a small piece of chocolate that contains milk I get sick. Cheese is probably the worst and even lactose free stuff is making me sick. I haven't seen a Doctor about it but plan on doing it. Could my A1 protein intolerance have returned?
Popped one of these chewy equate antacids in and immediately my mouth felt weird. I am anaphylactic and VERY sensitive to dairy. So far I am fine, but this is terrifying. Apparently we have to check literally every single thing we consume!
I like to treat myself to Starbucks once or twice a year. My go-to used to be a Mocha frappe or dragonfruit refresher thing but that was before I developed this pesky dairy allergy. I find their menu to be so intimidating so I'm looking for ideas on what to order and how to order it. I'd also like for it to be as sugar free as possible. I'm a bariatric patient so sugar is a not go, as in I can't have sugar unless I plan to not go anywhere the rest of the day.
It has coconut oil but zero coconut taste. It's smooth, creamy and tastes like the real thing!
I picked this up at Whole Foods recently because it was on sale for $5.75 (originally $8.39). It was a bit on the expensive side since it’s a small container but it was so good! The best vegan spreadable cheese I’ve had. It had the same texture I would expect from a dairy cream cheese and it had no weird aftertaste or sweetness.
I had it on crackers, on bread, on bagels. I even mixed it with tuna to make a nice spread! It was delicious. Definitely would buy again but maybe not at full price.
I recently discovered through an IgG test that I am intolerant to many foods including Cow’s Milk. This is an absolute disaster for me. I’ve been addicted to dairy for as long as I can remember and I don’t eat meat, so it’s been my primary source of protein. I’m now severely restricted and I have no choice but to try and heal my intolerances - possible or not. This is what I have learnt along the way so far
Intolerances can be caused by leaky gut: the foods leak through the gut and the body recognises them as pathogens, which creates the immune response
That can be caused by overconsumption of the same thing because our guts can only process a certain amount of each type of food - if you overload it, it doesn’t digest the food, making the above more likely
Some people have healed their intolerances by bringing tiny amounts of the food back in, which is better than exclusion in some cases, because it feeds and strengthens the gut bacteria that processes that food
I personally haven’t seen an improvement from all the expensive probiotics I’ve had, but they may have stopped things worsening
I have seen an improvement after eating raw cabbage consecutively for 5 days.
There are very advanced stool tests available like GI effects from Genova Diagnostics
But these tests just give you a picture in time. The truth of the gut is that it’s crazy complex and takes a long time to heal
Some people have used Raw Milk and Clostridium to address dairy intolerance but these are controversial due to safety issues
A high fibre diet can transform your gut in 3 days. Gas and mild pain from this is not a reason to stop. It just means the bacteria in your gut are fermenting.
It took me a year to learn all this, I hope it helps someone.
I have recently discovered I was lactose intolerant (the hard way). I lost 9kg from daily diarrhoea, between September and December. there wasn’t a single day my stomach wasn’t very weak/fucked. recently, I cut off dairy entirely and can finally enjoy life again without feeling unwell, tired and daily diarrhoea. I tried some Parmesan on the weekend which was apparently meant to be low in lactose but that still caused diarrhoea. I am also missing all the dairy snacks and cheesy pasta.
Two questions
The texture is on point and the flavor is great.
Are classic like donut shop donuts safe? Do classic donuts typically have milk?
I know it's hard to know depending on each location but just generally, is there dairy typically in donuts? I'm fiending! Lol
I’ve recently discovered that a lifetime of being lactose intolerant and just dealing with it finally caught up to me and I can’t go anywhere near dairy anymore. I do a lot of cooking so I’m fine more or less with meals and such but where I’m struggling is when I’m out and about or in a rush. I live in the kind of place where the only vegetarian option on a restaurant menu is a veggie burger and all the salads have meat. I used to grab an eggplant parm or a Greek salad at the pizza place if I needed a quick lunch out or cook frozen ravioli if kids activities ran late. If the day totally got away from me I could quick make a cheese sandwich (vegan cheese and other sandwich substitutes do not agree with me— I’ve tried a few). As a last resort it was a bagel and cream cheese at Dunkin’ Donuts- they used to offer peanut butter instead but don’t anymore. It seems any quick options are either meat or dairy but rarely vegan unless I’m cooking it from scratch. Is there a blind spot I’m missing? What do you do when your planning fell apart and you are out and hungry?
So I’ve been off dairy for months and using nutpods half and half but I’m always bloated from it. Any recommendations for an alternative without emulsifiers and gums. I eat almonds so i don’t think it’s the nuts, i think it’s the additives. I have made my own almond milk and it’s gross to me. I don’t want something that tastes nutty. Oat milk blows me up like a tick. I’m just so out of ideas. I feel like if you take out the additives everything takes like cloudy water. Heeeeelp I’m about to try black coffee and tea and i just don’t think i deserve that. I’m off dairy. I’m off gluten. I’m off eggs. I’m off carbs because of blood sugar issues. I’m tired of this grandpa
I've enjoyed the engagement on this sub. C: Care to share tuna recipes or flavor combos?
Eaten as or atop a salad or on (pumpernickel/ rye) toast, baked or raw like sushi/ sashimi-- I'mma eat it!
My favorite is tuna in water mixed with mayo, fresh lemon zest, lots of peppercorns, a little sea salt, flax seeds, sesame seeds and scallions!
If fresh ingredients are missing, I use lemon pepper seasoning, but omit additional salt. Minced dried onion also works in a pinch! Everything bagel seasoning works well too!
The only way I'm not a fan of tuna is canned in oil.
Did you lose weight?
Hi all! I am new to the dairy free life as I’ve recently found out that I have an allergy. I am looking for DF butter alternative suggestions.
I tried the Earth Balance original buttery spread, but I found it had a weird smokey (almost fishy) aftertaste to me and I did not like it. Do you guys have any suggestions that do not have this smokey flavor?
I’m sorry if this question has been asked a million times in this sub I just don’t want to waste my $ buying butter alternatives that all have this strange smokey flavor. Thank you!
I live in a rural town now, so finding DF is a little harder, even though it's becoming more mainstream. If my local grocery store has a DF product, it'll be the biggest brand and only one flavor (like Kraft NotCo original cheddar mac). The grocery store with the best selection has always been Fred Meyer, but the closest to me now is 40 minutes away. I still go often, that one has a huge refrigerated DF section offering half a dozen or more of each brand/ flavor for cream cheese, cheese, butter, sour cream, etc. Worth the drive.
BUT Grocery Outlet is near me, and even though their supply isn't steady, they DO offer the less common brands/varieties I don't normally see elsewhere. I've been able to try a lot of various frozen desserts, canned sauces, boxed dinners, and refrigerated goods. If you have one nearby and haven't checked them out, try it!
Husband asked me to make banana nut bread for some employees, so here they are! Toddler is allergic, so everything is DF, although, they’ll never know.
If the dairy substitutes like cheese are mostly just fat and no/low protein, what is the benefit of using them?
I ran a self-experiment where I alternated eating 50g of cheese/day for three days, then abstaining from cheese for three days, and repeating the on/off cycles for a total of 190 days. Here's what I found...
I didn't sign up for this shit.
These findings partially match a study on dairy consumption and appetite, which found a 200kcal/day increase when participants ate 3 servings of dairy per day, though the study didn't find any difference in subjective measures of appetite.
One of the predictions I made in the experiment was that increasing cheese would lead to poor skin health (more pimples), but that result was much less clear than the rest of my findings. These results all had relatively p value:
I think the same/next day discrepancy could be partially explained by this being a lagging effect that only manifested a few days after cheese consumption.
While testing this wasn't the initial intent of the experiment, based on my findings I'm quite convinced I have a milk protein/casein allergy based on my symptoms of sneezing, lightheadedness, nasal congestion, diarrhea.
Of course it is a Wegmans brand. I am traveling and don’t have a Wegmans at home, but if I did I would be so happy to have ice cream!
