Hi there! I'm new here and I am planning to purchase a secondhand Fujifilm X-T20. Could you please tell me if this is a suitable camera for someone who is new to photography and has no prior experience?
I am intending to use it for personal travel and street photography, and soon planning try an online course about photography. If you could offer some advice, I'd also appreciate any other camera suggestions Thanks!
Hi,
as a newbie video maker I still can't decide which next lens to buy. I currently have a Sigma 35, 1.4 and a Tamron 28-75, 2.8. Now I'm thinking whether to buy Sigma 85, 1.4 or Tamron 70-180, 2.8 g2. I think Tamron is great for its versatility and stabilization, but I like Sigma for its brightness. I deal with weddings, sometimes portraits, video banks and travel. I know it's very subjective, but I've spent several weeks deciding on this and still haven't come to a clear conclusion. If anyone has a tip on what will be more interesting now, I will be glad :)
Yesterday evening I was using my camera without any problem, I turned it off and put it back to my camera bag and zip it. I wanted to record some shots today afternoon, but I couldn't turn ON my camera. The switch is "stuck" on OFF. It feels like it is internally locked and not stuck. As I said, I was using the camera yesterday night and only inside, there is no way that some dirt would get inside.. but still I used dental floss to floss under the switch and it was everything clean.. As I said, it feels like locked and I do not want to force it, because I might break it.. Can you give me some tips please?
https://youtu.be/DlndgOuAMrQ Should I buy a better Camera? MTKProduxtion AyeDj Getting a DSLR pushed me to get out more, Nothing my phone ever had done, But getting good use of a dslr is not as simple Auto focus can hunt, I do miss out on pictures due to auto focus adjusting after Iâve set it due to the button being the shame as the shutter AFL is awesome for this, but video is no less vulnerable to this issue Solving such an issue would be to purchase a new lens or new body, which brings us to the point Would the modern iPhone beat the DSLR?
I can say, being behind the recording device is best with a dslr, manually controlling the focus Personally I wouldnât like to be dissatisfied with a $600-$2000 purchase if it ever at all failed to focus while recording A great majority of my DSLR videos are of dogs, so auto focus is inactive, with a small screen I canât even tell if a subject is in actual focus if they are dark This has wasted a lot of great pictures AFL auto focus lock, does solve this* For me I suffer shakey video, so I use a VR Lens how ever, switching lens could be the time difference of my subject moving And I canât recall a TV like SNL or Brooklyn 911 for quick example, with Bokeh, blurry background with HQ subject This requires another lens, switching from headshot to set frames will take time and careful handling of your $$$ lensâŠ
Do you have time to direct and set up? Do you have the will to carry multiple tripods or a heavy bag? Do you have time to change lenses?
I enjoy working with a dslr, I very much so dislike using it in a fast paced setting when my iPhone or DJI pocket can capture these moments better, despite my attempts to keep a 35mm on
I bring this up as I look to upgrade to a 4k 60fps dslr or mirrorless - with 18-24mm + 35mm prime + 50-200mm VR + 18-55mm VR Although after these experiences I think itâs smartest and safest to stick with two I prefer the life style of a dslr and lens And even work around my issues or limitations of the body
Hi I am a novice and beginner. I have an older canon eos rebel. All of a sudden the lcd preview doesnât work. When I take a photo lcd does show it but prior to taking the photo the lcd doesnât show anything. I googled this and tried some suggestions in the menu settings to no avail
Hi everyone. I'm looking to get my 1st dslr. Planning to use it to take pictures/video when I propose to my gf next month, also for holiday pictures, and taking photos of my warhammer miniatures đ. I've got my eye on these 2 models but I'm still fairly new to learning the specs when in comes to cameras. It's like trying to learn pc specs again, it may take time for all the infos to sink in. Anyone here who's used both of these 2 models and how does it compare to one another? Thank you for your insight.
This is a 3 min exposure with lens cap on. It is not due to an external light leak.
Iâd prefer a larger body mirrorless camera and a lense with a long range. Iâm a total newb so someone please help and steer me toward a website where I can buy one or a recommendation. Thank you!
My Sony Alpha A330 DSLR has a problem where it can be a bit difficult to turn on when being off for more than 10 minutes. I have to take the battery out for 30 seconds or so, then put it back in for the camera to turn on.
This is a real hassle, but my camera has a sleep mode feature and is it okay if I keep it in sleep mode? (Except for when changing lenses)
Iâm looking to buy a DSLR camera for my sonâs high school graduation next year. I want to take his graduation picture myself since they are charging $100 for 1 8x10. I would also like a zoom lens to be able to take good pictures of him during graduation from the stands. I like compact cameras not big bulky ones. Iâm not familiar with fancy cameras. Price range Under $1000.
Hello! Iâm sort of the de facto photographer for my friends and family. People call on me for family photo shoots, birthday pictures, pictures of their babies. I like to do it as a hobby but Iâd never charge. Iâd also like one to have for personal use (hikes, family events, portraits, etc.)
I typically shoot 35mm film and use my iPhone but Iâve been wanting to upgrade for a while now. Iâm looking for recs for a nice camera for casual use that yields good results. Iâd like to spend in the $600 range but Iâd be willing to go up to $1,000. I know nothing about DSLR cameras so if you happen to know anything about attachments or lenses, that would be helpful!
Thank you in advance!!
I'm looking to buy my first camera soon, but was wondering if any are good for both film and photography. The cheaper the better. I want to start a new hobby/sie hustle in collge
I'm planning a trip to the Amazon rainforest and want to capture the sounds of nature while filming. I'm looking for a microphone with built-in stereo recording capabilities. Which would be better for capturing the sounds of birds, insects, and the overall atmosphere: the Sennheiser MKE 440 or the Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro? Or are there other options I should consider? like a Zoom H5? i want something quite easy with the biggest autonomy.
Hey yall, very new to cameras and I was wondering how I can get footage like this? I recently just bought a Sony ZV-E10 with the kit lense.

I know in one of his videos he says he at least use a 50mm f1.8. I want to have more versatility though as filming inside the gym is kind of hard. Are there any zoom lenses that provide that kind of bokeh that's relatively budget?
I'm choosing between a Canon SL2 and a Canon EOS 70D and was wondering if there was a better option for filing adult content in a bedroom. I have a decent lighting setup.
The EOS 70D also has a 40mm lens with it. I had been planning on getting a 35mm but was wondering if the 40mm would be sufficient for now.
hi! I have an older Canon Rebel T1i with a standard canon 18-55mm lens. I scored it from a friend almost a decade ago. I haven't played with it in recent years. I don't have the money to upgrade to the newest camera. Is it possible to still get stunning, vivid, crisp nature shots with the Rebel T1i? Recommendations for affordable, compatible lenses for this body? I want to start photographing birds that I see on my walks and landscape photos of the mountains in my area. I'm a super novice by the way.
I'm sure this gets asked a lot, but here's another one:
Going to the Grand Canyon, was looking for a sub $500 DSLR for picture and video with acceptable and easy use. We like panoramic pictures.
Thank you for any advice. Sorry for the spam.
Hey everyone,
I've been noticing strange noises when filming with my Sony A7SIII and the Sony FE 24â70mm f/2.8 GM lens. The camera is running on factory settings, and I'm using autofocus. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
I've uploaded a video that shows the problem in more detail. I suspect it might be related to the lens since I bought it second-hand. I'd really appreciate any tips or solutions!
My Setup:
Let me know in the comments if you've had similar experiences or any ideas on how to fix this!
Hereâs the video:Â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_KLRwNNG2Y
I used a blower while taking the photos with intention to just blow away dust. Now photos are coming too bright and foggy. I tried swapping lens so I know it is not the lens that is the issue. Did I distroy my DSLR sensor? Is there any fix?
I can usually take photos while connecting my dslr to external power like powerbank with dummy battery. Now everytime i press shutter, i lags and doesn't take photo, but with battery it does, my only problem is i usually use dummy battery and powerbank for event like photobooth but now it doesn't function if i plug it on powerbank.
The Importance of Choosing the Right Camera
As a professional user with many years of experience, having gone through numerous camera models and mastered various types of photography that require a high level of skill such as HDR shooting, Milky Way photography, fireworks shooting techniques, or the art of 'hunting' wildlife and birds... I cannot deny that the most beautiful photos in the world often depend on the moment and the photographer's technique. However, few people realize that without equipment of the right caliber, it would be difficult to create such stunning images.
In the past, when going out to shoot, people would often advise each other to choose the lowest ISO to minimize noise in the photo. However, nowadays, with the rise of technology, many flagship models can push ISO above 2000, even up to 3200 or more, while still delivering high-quality images. Hardware is becoming increasingly powerful, sensors are capturing light better, and autofocus speed is unbelievably fast... With these kinds of cameras, almost everything is within your control, at least for the next 10-15 years. By then, there may be even more advanced devices that top developers have yet to introduce at this point in time.
Here, I will introduce you to some flagship models from both DSLR and Mirrorless lines. Each of these categories has its own advantages and disadvantages, but all of them are the 'Toyota' and 'Ford' of the photography industry:
Gearing Up for Professional Photography Greatness
Itâs difficult to justify the purchase of one of these cameras if youâre a hobbyist. Theyâre more aimed at working photographers. Reporters and sports journalists, at studio photographers and wildlife photogs who want to keep their distance while capturing their best shots. If professional photography isnât your goal, consider a beginner mirrorless or a bridge camera. Buy your first interchangeable lens, then work on your skills. That way, youâve already got experience, and a lens or two, under your belt.
If you are part of the target demographic, you work for a magazine or have your own studio, there are a handful of deciding factors to help you out. Subjective taste matters. Are you a fan of Canon or Nikon products and their accessories? Do mirrorless cameras appeal to your photographerâs sensibilities? If so, Sony has a mature collection of cameras ready to satisfy your heartâs desire.
Consider size and weight as well. A heavy DSLR isnât going to be easy to lug around a war zone or on the African Serengeti. On the other hand, they are fantastic cameras to have permanently mounted on a tripod in a studio. Considering going beyond super-sharp still capturing? Then you should ask yourself whether 4K filming is something you can see yourself getting into in the future. Sony and Canon models have a good reputation for videography, and the Nikon Z9 includes full 8K video recording.
In the final analysis, itâs hard to go wrong with any of these models. They really are the cream of the crop, the best cameras for professional photography. Even so, thatâs a lot of spending capital to invest, so if one model has an edge over the other in a certain area, you should take advantage of that fact.
Asking our staffers one final time, coy though they are to respond, they believe the right choice depends on your unique needs and preferences, but any of these models will elevate your photography to the next level.
Hi all, been into photography for nearly 20 years, recently got a Sony a390 and no matter what settings I use, manual, auto, landscape, focus modes etc all my photos are blurry soft and blurry when I zoom in a bit, I have taken phots in all lighting conditions and compared to my Fuji X10 they look like they were taken on a much, much older and less capable camera and I just cant seem to figure out why, I even went back and zoomed in to almost pixel peeping level on pictures I took with my first DSLR which was a Sony a290, they look amazingly sharp compared, does it sound like I should return it or could it be user error still?
Is there anything I can physically look at and check to see if it causing the issue?
Hello i wanted to try some cheap dslr to decide if i want to upgrade to a newer model later so i got a used 450D with a 18-55mm kit lense 3.5-5.5 for 50 usd with 6000 clicks on it.
I am trying but i get good photos only with the manual focus which is very difficult to achieve. It seems autofocus sucks big time. Is it the camera or the lense kit? Or my abilities? Thanks.
