Inspired by this post about Vancouver's club culture, I'm very curious what you perceive your club culture to be and how you see the culture of other clubs.
I'm a PFC fan, had season tickets this past season, and went to over half the home games the season before that. However, I don't think I could say what the club culture is. I don't know. Maybe I'm not observant enough, or even know what I'm looking for, so I'd love to hear how you see things at home and beyond.
If we can get 7000+ consistently that will be more fuel for the push for a permanent stadium. This is good in the meantime.
I really can't find too much about the identity or culture at VanFC. I mean, you have eagles, right? Just seems like another "city name FC" team (we'll disregard the fact that Vancouver FC isn't in Vancouver), but there's much much more I don't know about.
Helloo Canadians, I'm Willy from the UK who has been following the growth of football in the US and Canada. I recently came across the League1 Ontario Page and wanted to contribute. Taking inspiration from other leagues wiki pages, I decided to create a standalone League1 Ontario Premier page (will expand to the other leagues if I get time), where it will only show information for the top tier of Ontario football. I don't have all the info but would love for users to give me a helping hand on how I can improve, expand and make it look better overall. Just want to help and contribute to the growth of football and I decided to do this by making a modern very well created wiki page. This is what I have been working on so far:
It's been awhile since we've had some VFC gossip, so here I am.
A friend of mine that is close to the club has told me that they are going to try and improve the atmosphere by making the east stand at Willoughby Park all general admission (previously it was mostly where large groups or family members of players sat) it always looked pretty bare on broadcasts so hopefully it creates more of an illusion that the stadium is fuller than it is.
I've also heard the large standing room only south stand will be closed for next season. I assume this means the Fraser Valley Fanatics will also be moving to the East stand as that is set to be the new general admission area of the stadium.
I also saw that VFC are holding tryouts for a new dance team as part of in game entertainment next year. I don't know any other teams in the league who have this. I don't think that it would go as well with pro soccer than Basketball or CFL, but maybe it will be a success, who knows.
The team also keeps teasing an announcement on Black Friday. They keep calling it "grow the game" I have no dirt on this.
I love this league so much. I'll admit having a bias to Forge as I've lived in Hamilton since 2017, but I desperately want to see all the teams do well and see our league grow. With that as a backdrop, I'd love to know what the best moments of 2024 were for you, as fellow fans of the league.
Either finally beating MTL or beating TFC in leg 1 of the CanChamp and watching TFC fans boo Insigne off our pitch are probably my personal highlights. What are yours?
