Well, that's a wrap!
I've finished my second watch of Boss (thanks to Tubi, watch free here: https://tubitv.com/series/300000688/boss).
Obviously I'm disappointed that the series was short-lived. Still ,I actually kinda appreciated the "ending" we're provided, if you want to call it that. Perhaps it's fitting that Mayor Kane's specific fate is left up to the viewer. We of course know that he's sick and roughly how long he has, but the rest is up to us.
Some characters are able to "pull off" that kinda ending, and I think Tom Kane is one of them.
So, here's mine:
Meredith is the future. Her ambitions aren't exactly hidden, and she's capable of running the city; some could argue that she did run Chicago for 20 years alongside her husband. Her connections, resources, name-recognition, and the fact that the public seems to view her in a positive way, would make her the clear front-runner to replace Tom.
As for Tom? He hangs on for as long as he can. I don't see him being able to fulfill his duties while hiding his illness from the public for more than six months? Maybe more depending on how much he can/chooses to delegate (Meredith).
That State Attorney clown who plans to run against Tom doesn't have the makings of a Mayor, and in my ending Tom isn't running again anyway. He'll face Meredith, who'll destroy him all while smiling the entire time (not behind closed doors, of course).
In the end, Meredith Kane becomes the Mayor Emeritus she once referenced.
Some people say that politicians don't care about "small" issues like potholes. Well, Mayor Tom Kane certainly does!

Kelsey grammars performance deserves an Emmy. There’s not a part of the production that doesn’t deserve an award. I just bought both seasons digitally on Amazon.
Was flicking through amazon (uk) and came across Boss. Had never heard of it before but obviously knew who Kelsey grammer was. Binge watched both seasons the past few weeks and thought it was excellent (only complaint is Emma's acting and accent at times is pretty bad 😂)
I can't believe it was cancelled. What a cliff hanger too!
Anyone recognize the jewelry worn by Mrs. Kane? The gf is watching with me this time through and wants some for when she is a classy older lady.
Stopped by here on a nostalgia trip through some old reddit book marks I made. Just a bit of reddit graffiti.
I was browsing here on self isolation as Corona Virus was raging away.
Anyone else ever stop by here?
That's all
We know this show was cancelled and the movie that was supposed to wrap things up too
So what would the movie about? I just finished the show (loved it btw) and need to "headcanon" an ending
I'm just going to hope that Netflix picks up this show for a third season, like they did with The Killing. Hope. Hope. Hope.
A bit late to the party, but just finished S02E10.
Darn, that's a solid episode, finishing off a solid show.
I initially thought Ian had stolen Ryan's picture of young Kane and the girls, setting him up for a 'stalker type' worship of Kane, which subsequently blinded me to all the other hints at the Kane-Emma-Ian relationship. Damn was that a reveal for me.
All up though I was really impressed with the show, as well as Kelsey Grammar's dynamic range (e.g. from Up Perisope, compared to Frasier, compared to to F-bomb Central Boss).
Just discovered this on Netflix, this show was amazing. Easily holds up with the big dark antihero dramas of the past decade but it seems to have gotten zero recognition.
It's eery. She (Nicole Forester) looks like Lt. Dan (Gary Sinise) with a wig.
I just watched the first episodes and I was surprised I didn't like it. Multiple friends as well as Netflix had strongly suggested this show for me, but after the first episode I don't really feel brought in.
I think part of this is because I don't really find any of the cast outside of KG to be all that remarkable. For the people on this subreddit, could you (WITHOUT SPOILERS) tell me some thing I can look forward to using only the first episode as a guide?
I don't think the premise is that interesting given that Kane does not really stand to lose anything given than his life is so abysmal and he's not really sympathetic enough for me to want him to succeed.
Maybe I'm missing something or maybe I missed some thing from S0EP1, but I'm just not feeling it so far.
Rewatching the show. Moved from Chicago back to LA, and I'm getting pretty nostalgic. Love seeing all of the scenery, love seeing the fantastic writing. If this show got picked up on HBO or Showtime, it'd still be going. It's a shame it was cancelled.
?
Specifically, whether there would actually be a third season.
