Goodbye Amazon - Hello WA State AG formal consumer complaint process

Well, I've finally had enough with Amazon Customer Support.

The lack of continuity of an issue (every call is a rediscovery like Groundhog Day)...,

I tried just chats (flip thru up to 10 handoffs in the same chat session...,

I tried live calls (request-a-call)...,

I tried request-a-manager/supervisor (got directed to request-a-call)...,

I tried upload doc (jpgs only no pdfs), the only receiving email I am aware of is reportascam@amazon.com, cs-reply is a dead end.

I had 2 issues. Each is "worth" about $200, yes this is all over about $400.

  1. during a kindle service call, Amazon CS advised the need to replace and offered 50% discount on the new purchase. I was surprised, yet pleased, and asked for that offer in writing. No subsequent call to Amazon CS had honored that email I received and shared with them

$200.. a lot cheaper to just write me a check

  1. in mid December my account was hijacked. It's a long story covered in other reddit entries, but Amazon twice claimed to have cleansed the account (backed out stuff) and reinstated me to it. Both times it was re-hijacked within a few hours, as the hijacker could call in and convince CS to reinstate him/her. So Amazon cannot protect my account (I accept that), so goodbye loyal Prime customer. However there were two orders, in the last week before hijack, I wanted to return for refund.

But I refuse to connect to the account ,due the prior two failures, I needed CS to process on my behalf, and they have not succeeded, despite their claims.

$200 (approx) again

So Amazon trolls, if you're reading this, a lot of time and pain (yours) could have been avoided by just giving me the $400 you owe me.

where do you shop when you don’t want to give amazon more money

i’ve been trying to cut back on shopping from amazon lately because their seller policies and fees are just getting worse. it sucks because their product range is huge but the way they treat small sellers is just brutal. found correkt com recently and it’s an interesting alternative especially if you’re into crypto payments .

wondering where do you guys shop when you’re trying to avoid amazon? need more options

I received an item I was already refunded for from the UK.

I ordered a Ryzen 7800x3D from uk to us and it ran me a bit over 400$. After 2 weeks of the item being late with no updates in tracking the item said it was lost or stolen and to contact customer support for a refund. I got the refund then a week or so later the package arrived. I’ve just checked on how to return the item and I printed the shipping label expecting it to have a tracking attached already and it says I have to pay for postage since it’s an international shipment. I’m not really sure how much postage will be, maybe 50$? Regardless I didn’t think it was very fair that I had to pay for postage at all. This is where I maybe went wrong. I contacted support and explained the situation. They said they would reimburse me for the postage. I asked if it was possible for me to have the return changed so I could take it to my local Whole Foods. They said no. I asked to connect with a manager and the manager switched up on me said that they would not reimburse me for the postage and promptly ended the chat. I connected with another employee after doing some research. According to the law I am not obligated to return the package and the seller is responsible and should contact the carrier to get a refund for the item. I asked the customer service agent if I would be charged for the item if I chose not to return it since it’s just an absolute hassle for me. I have to take a picture of my id and send it via email as well to get a refund for postage which I honestly hate. I’m not sure what to do. Am I truly legally not obligated to return the package? I want to do the right thing but I’m honestly upset with the response I got from the manager and don’t think they deserve any more of my time. If I am charged can I dispute it?

Other than Kindle what e-reader do you use?

I'm boycotting Amazon - I just had enough of all these multimillionaires that make our planet overall worse and worse every day basically for the sake of their own greed and convenience.

I also had enough of complaining and not doing anything about it, naively believing that our choices can make a difference! I am a drop in the sea - but still...

So, what readers do you use other than Kindle?

Thanks,

Seller on Amazon still buys from them out of their own sense of obligation

My in laws are sellers on Amazon, they have been for many years and for a while it worked. Now though they are getting next to no business or having to sell at a price with very little profitcjust so people will buy from them, just because Amazon will always do a lower price and will be available on prime.

I feel so sorry for them because they are the loveliest people you will meet but despite amazon squeezing them so tight financially, they still buy most of their stuff off amazon out of some sense of obligation. I don't understand why they would keep shopping on a website that is effectively forcing them to live on next to no money.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can convince them to move their business or stop buying off amazon?

My Amazon Account Has Been Locked for Over a Month – No Resolution Despite Providing All Requested Documents, Money Deducted, and No Access!

Hello Reddit,

I’m a customer from China, and I’ve been dealing with a hugely frustrating situation with Amazon for over a month now. I’m hoping someone here might have some advice or insights, as this is becoming unbearable.

Here’s the story:

About a month ago, I used my Chinese credit card to purchase a birthday gift for my wife, who is currently living in the U.S. Everything went smoothly during checkout, but shortly afterward, my Amazon account was suddenly locked without any explanation.

I received an email telling me my account was under review and that I needed to submit documents to verify my identity. They requested a government ID, proof of payment method, and proof of address, which I provided immediately.

Despite submitting all of these documents, I haven’t heard back from Amazon in over a month. During this time, I’ve called their customer service three times, which was a challenge for me because English isn’t my first language, and my speaking skills are not great. Every time I was told to wait, but they couldn’t give me any updates on when the issue would be resolved.

What’s even more frustrating is that I had placed only one order—the birthday gift for my wife—and the money was charged to my card immediately. However, since my account is locked, the item hasn’t been shipped, and I can’t even access my account to cancel the order or request a refund.

Now, here’s what really doesn’t make sense to me: If Amazon suspected my payment method was risky or fraudulent, why would they still go ahead and charge my card? Isn’t the logical step to not take the money or to refund the card owner immediately if there’s suspicion? This seems like a complete failure in their risk control logic. If they genuinely thought my payment was suspicious, why hold onto the money without sending the item or providing a refund?

Here’s a summary of the key issues:

  1. Unclear communication: After submitting all the required documents, I’ve received no updates from Amazon about the status of my account.
  2. Charged but no product: Amazon has taken the payment for my order, but the item hasn’t shipped, and now I can’t even access my account to take action.
  3. Inconsistent risk control: If Amazon had concerns about my payment method, why did they take the money? Shouldn’t they either have blocked the transaction or refunded it quickly if it was suspicious?
  4. Difficult customer service experience: I tried to find a way to contact Amazon via email, but their website offers no clear email communication options. Even the emails they sent me didn’t provide any way to reach out for help. After a lot of searching online, I finally managed to find their customer service phone number. While the customer service reps were polite, none of my three calls led to a resolution. Each time, they simply told me to keep waiting with no concrete progress.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of situation with Amazon? It’s incredibly frustrating, and I just want my account back so I can get my wife’s birthday gift to her, or at the very least, get my money back!

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

Company is absolutely reaming customers

This company is INSANE.

I placed my order on 10-7-24 with a send to an Amazon locker, at the last minute the day of delivery the delivery is switched to USPS. WHO CANT EVEN DELIVER TO AN AMAZON LOCKER.

They resend the items back to the shipper and are holding my refund HOSTAGE until the 16th saying they won't issue a refund until then.

I travel for work and rely on Amazon Lockers for my food, I eat a specific diet and can only get the food from them and they're the only one who has been able to meet my mobile need for food delivery while on site. The Company was absolutely ruthless on the phone and unwilling to issue a refund immediately or to send out the complimentary order which they should have done for their ABSOLUTELY LOGISTICAL FAILURE.

I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS LEGAL, ITS LITERALLY LIKE HAVING A BULLY STEAL YOUR LUNCH.

I have no idea what to do but I am so amazed at where this company is headed, they used to have such a grip on customer service and pleasing me, and it's all disappeared. They transfered me to 10 different representatives trying to make me give up the call before they point blank told me "nope you get nothing. You're screwed."

I'm so jaw dropped. This is the most wicked customer service I've ever seen.

A better way to publish than Amazon

As a frustrated first-time author struggling to find an agent, I came up with the idea to create a new website that allows authors to post their books, but also, any chapters they want to sell. Additionally, the author can add video and/or audio commentary about the book. Finally, I hooked up an AI engine so that a reader could search through the book and better understand it.

I am looking for feedback on my test site (it only has two books). Any and all comments are welcome.

Amazon is practicing bait and switch.

Amazon routinely lists next day delivery for items. Then the item arrives in three to four days.

My last eight purchases over two months have been listed as next day delivery then they arrive in three to four days. With Amazon prime they’re supposed to arrive in two days.

Everyone in my office has been experiencing the same issue.

I’m dropping Prime and looking for other vendors

Is there an extension that tells me where else I can purchase an Amazon item for similar price/shipping?

Hate amazon, hate fake sellers, but my low income enjoys saving 50% off of other retailers. There are items I would not get if not for the Amazon low cost+shipping.

Is there a way to accelerate finding the alternatives?

Thank you!
