My favorite activity

I love walking up to peaceful npc and just shooting them in the forehead and listening to their final squeek... it makes me feel like I'm not going to die in 5 minutes.

Controller vibration kinda lacking?

I'm replaying this game on the PC using a Xbox controller for the first time. I find the controller support kinda barebones. Granted, I'm not very far into the game, but so many little interactions like healing, pulling levers, opening doors lack any vibration whatsoever. It would have definitely enhanced the experience if they had added rumble to these.

I just finished playing Still Wakes the Deep and that game's got tons of great rumble implementations

I’ve heard about a missable opportunity involving a Working Joe.

People have referenced a part of the game where you’re able to release a working Joe from a locked room to attack some humans to clear the way for Amanda.

I’m at the part where Ricardo’s in your ear, talking about how there’s a bunch of Seegson operatives sweeping the floor taking everyone out. Here you can either shoot or sneak your way past them.

Is there a Working Joe locked away somewhere that I can release to take these guys out? If so where?

Question

So I was trying to avoid the people when I was looking for the first data cell and one thing came to another and I bludgeoned all 4 of their faces in. Does something bad happen if you do this? Just picture 4 dead body's in a crescent moon shape.

Does anyone know is the Alias Isolation mod still works?

Hi everyone, I have been trying to get the Alias Isolation mod to work, but I haven't had any luck, no version I tried worked, my GPU is a RX 7800 XT, I read that the mod is broken in AMD GPUs after a recent driver update, maybe someone can confirm it.

There is some bug fix or patch for this game nowadays?

I want to play it this game so much but on PC (Epic Games version) I’ve had a bug at the beginning where the woman at the Torrens call us to the bridge and then she just stands there and nothing happens, I’ve managed to make it work after restarting the game from beginning 4 times (loading the save from the room where she put the clothes doesn’t work), then all went well until the mission 4 where I have to reactivate the communications and it has 3 minigames, then “Press E” appears on the screen and it doesn’t work, I’ve tried a lot of things, nothing, searching online some people had the same issues but no answer to solve it. I’ve restarted (from the very beginning!!) 3 times now and this minigame bug always happens, I can’t restart again without knowing if it’s going to work, so frustrating. I’ve locked the fps on Nvidia Control Panel at 60 some people said that would solve but doesn’t work. Tried to close Nvidia controls panel and overlays too but nothing. Someone had this problem around here? I’m just giving up…

I know we all love this game, BUT...

...but, it is not without its faults. We talked a lot about what we want to see in the sequel, which setting, characters, etc. I think it's time to talk about what mistakes we think the first game made and how to avoid repeating them.

I'll start with my biggest gripes:

-Too many Androids in mid/endgame (after ejecting steve with the lab module), could be fixed by introducing one or two Xeno variants for gameplay variety.

-Last Mission is kinda weak. Could have hit harder. It is really unclear where the last Xenomorph came from. Not a giant problem, but yeah, could have been handled better.

I love this game too much to be truly critical of it, I think. You gotta help me out.

Is it too boring to just sit in closets and under desks when the Alien stalks around? Idk, I like it almost every time.

Is the game too long? I wish it was longer, tbh.

If you could tell creative assembly what pitfalls to watch out for when creating the sequel, what would you tell them?

And just so you know, I plan to make this topic into a video, and I'd like some opinions about it. The outline for the video is already in my head so I don't want you to write the script for me, but I'm afraid I'll overlook some obvious flaws bc I'm just such a fanboy. What can you do...

Thanks for reading, and I'm looking forward to hearing your input!

Just finished the game on Nightmare... (Rant)

Long story short; recently I bought the game on steam after playing it off my epic games account (wanted those sweet sweet achievements to brag) and my dumb ass thought it was a good idea to tackle most of the achievements (story, collectibles, and some challenges like the pacifist and M4 deathless) in nightmare mode (I'm well aware that finishing the game on hard also pops the achievement, wanted to challenge myself).

I just want to say FUCK THIS DIFFICULTY MODE.

Most of the time the goddamned lizard is all knowing, spawning right at my side at certain sections, eg. The start of M17 where you have to make your way down to the flight terminal, particularly annoying since my last Nostromo log was there, I ended up popping the 100 times too many achievement there because of the sheer bs I was subjected to.

Also, I get the part about being a difficulty mode where it isn't just "you do less damage and the enemies have more health" but is it truly necessary to remove the use of the map. Having finished the game in hard before the jump feels a bit harsh.

I also want to bitch about resources, especially in the later parts of the game. Again, I get at the start of the game resources HAVE to be pretty limited to allow you to depend on more than just your tools (for example, the flamethrower) but towards the end, it gets frustrating that you can't even craft a medikit, even more so when everything two taps you.

Do not misunderstand me, I also liked the experience in some aspects, like learning some more obscure mechanics or getting to see more of the map.

In any way, I also wanted to leave some tips in case anyone wants to try this in their playthrough.

  • Stock up in flamethrower fuel: the trap mission can be done pretty much without even thinking of using the flamethrower, and it's much more needed in the reactor core, anesidora and the last escape sequence, mostly because of the facehuggers.

  • Don't bother with the motion sensor: I've just come from reading a post where it explains the alien can hear the sensor, this is very much true and can give you away if the alien is snooping around, furthermore, part of the nightmare mode modifications is that them MS has constant graphical glitches that can be very distracting. It's better to hear for audio cues (the alien moving in the pipes, the MS will beep naturally without having to use it when it detects something, growls, hisses, etc). One thing it is good for, it's as a compass of sorts, especially considering the map is disabled.

  • Focus crafting efforts in Molotovs, EMPs and Medikits: all three very useful, Molotovs can help you deal with the overgrown iguana in a pinch, EMPs are useful to give most androids the slip, and Medikits to prevent getting one tapped by a fallen android (the ones still active but in the floor), noise makers can be helpful, but not fully necessary since a flare serves almost the same purpose.

  • Aim for the head: androids are some of the more pesky enemies in the mid to late game when the alien is not around to fuck with you, it takes about 2-3 shotgun headshots to kill them, as opposed to 4-5 when aiming at the chest, still it is more easy to give them the slip, since all androids are slow, just don't let yourself get cornered.

  • No Lockers: lockers are absolutely useless in this mode, they worked for me 1-2 times in the whole playthrough, it's easier and faster to walk/crouch and keep on the move, tables, chairs, boxes, columns and all of the scenario items are your friends.

  • Sic the alien: as opposed to the more solitary segments, like the Gemini space solutions office, the alien can and should be a tool when there are humans involved, moreso when doing the pacifist achievement, since alien and android kills don't block it, if there are hostile humans nearby (which, most likely will one or two taps you), shoot the revolver to the air and wait for our long black pal to appear, then sneak past when he is busy killing off your foes.

  • Take alternate routes: most of the common routes are more dangerous, since the alien roams a lot more, Instead, sparingly using the vent system can prove useful for avoiding detection.

And there we go, enjoy suffering.

Alien Overhaul?

I just downloaded "Bays Alien Isolation Overhaul" for my second playthrough and was wondering if it's gonna be a good time? I finished the game on normal the first time, and noticed it taking it kinda easy on me sometimes. I tried Hard multiple times when I first got the game years ago and kept giving up. Now that I understand how the game works and know the areas better I want to play on hard for more of a challenge....but not have it tethered within 5 feet of me the whole time. Is this mod a good balance? I'm also hoping it's not like the first "unpredictable alien" mod where you never ever see it sometimes 😅 Anyone have Any experience with it? I will also be playing with a vr headset like I did before, so I wanna know what silliness I've signed on for lol
