Shannan wrote and recorded this song about her lovely daughter but the lyrics are deeper than just one person, please listen and share!
Three years ago, I got into barbershop, but since I was so young, I wasn’t actually good but now I feel like I’m ready. Now Im a 13 year old weirdo but my voice has gotten a lot more stable since then.
Im just wondering if there’s any tips to sing barbershop. I can sing tags easily and it’s fine, it’s also in tune quite a bit. But it just sounds messy. For some reason when j listen to the full thing, it just sounds forced and all over the place.
I can send you my tags if you pm me because I don’t know the rules on self promotion here.
If it helps any body, Im a cisgender male. My range is G#2 - b5
Hello! My collegiate a capella group has auditioned for ICCA (hopefully we get in!) and we're looking for someone who can arrange songs. No one in the group can arrange, so we're having to look externally. As far as I know, our setlist does not have any arrangements that previously exist. Please reach out if you're interested in arranging. Thank you!
In my opinion Take 6 is the greatest acapella group. They have revolutionized the acapella world and won multiple grammys in jazz, r&b,and gospel categories.
This is a live performance from them at the Arsenio Hall Show: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GWXPos6PNw8
Hi, I sang with Voices of Gotham in Manhattan. I may rejoin the group shortly. It's always been my dream to form my own quartet. Anyone interested in discussing this project with me? I can be reached at mhmilch@gmail.com
Hi! I'm almost graduating from a west coast SSAA a cappella group and am currently looking for a home for some of my arrangements + am happy to custom arrange. I'm happy to send samples and I arrange on MuseScore - I have some experience with SATB as well.
My group is a non-competitive group and some of my arrangements don't fit the current needs of the group. My group has never formally competed, so I don't have formal credentials but I'm confident that my pieces will be fun & promising!
Dm me for inquiries! I'm happy to discuss and be flexible with pricing or your vision as well!
Hello everyone!
If anyone is looking for new music for their groups to sing, I have some self-published arrangements now available via ArrangeMe. I have been making a cappella arrangements in my spare time for about five years, and I am really excited to finally showcase them to you.
It would mean a lot if you would view and share these links below to my ever-growing library. I hope you enjoy!

So, I was listening to collegiate acapella groups on spotify when I came across this album called "Exit" by an artist named "Nine." It is an acapella album, complete with some pretty well done covers. But, something has been itching me about who exactly Nine is. I have tried to do my own research, going through youtube, genius lyrics, even brand affiliations found in the youtube descriptions, and I haven't reached a conclusive answer as to who Nine is. Could anybody provide some insight?
Holy shit. Thoughts????
Hey, so I sing in my college barbershop group in a Baritone range normally and when I'm singing alot close to my breaking point, I get a pressure headache in the middle of my head simply for the strain I'm using to hit my notes; Im not even singing very loudly. I can also feel alot of strain in my throat which also hurts after too much strain. I have good diaphragmatic control and I do lip trill warmup and stuff but I still get this problem. What can I do to eliminate these problems?
P.s the problem range is a range a bari should have no issue with. I'm confident I can get there it's just changing my approach.
Thanks!!
My group Black to Gold released our new music video yesterday featuring songs from Legally Blonde: The Musical! It's over-the-top and extremely pink. Give it a shot; I think you'll have a fun time 💖
Hello everyone,
I have been working in the a cappella world as an arranger for several years now and have several groups I regularly work with for either one-off arrangements or competition sets. In the past, I have used Facebook groups such as A Cappella Now to connect with directors and musicians. I also have a majority of my catalog up on sites like Sheetmusicplus via ArrangeMe. I am making this post today to see what I can do better to reach people. (Website, a cappella demos, reddit, etc.) What has worked for your groups when looking for arrangers?
Hey y'all, new to the community! My group just released an EP of our comp set from 2023. Not our first time releasing music, but our first time recording an ICCA set. Just wanted to share if anyone was looking for some new a cappella tunes! https://open.spotify.com/album/2IRP0nsEouJrufjPWNq6i4?si=BJtvdSArTqyshItRxPLE0w
I’ve noticed a lot more mezzo sopranos in groups that only accept tenors and basses. Wouldn’t that timbre defeat the point of a tenor-base group? I’m curious as to what the logic is behind this, and why I’m seeing so many mezzo sopranos ONLY auditioning for these groups and not wanting to sing alto or soprano parts. Is there something wrong with alto or soprano parts? It doesn’t make sense why people want to sing parts not suited to their voices or why groups are accepting people who aren’t tenors or basses. Is there another perspective I’m failing to see?
I've been doing a cappella for like a decade now but never has my arranger brain been SO stimulated as when I watched the TV show Arcane. The soundtrack is INCREDIBLE -- it's got EDM, rap, Motown, bluegrass, etc. influences and amazing artists that I'm now huge fans of like how did I not know who PVRIS was before hearing Snakes???
A lot of the music isn't stuff you often see a cappella groups do, but if they did it would be such a cool way to engage with the fandom and also show how dynamic a cappella music can be. So naturally I arranged all the songs from the Arcane soundtrack and formed a vocal ensemble called technicolor STEW out of my singer friends so I could make them learn and record my arrangements!!
Since studio recordings are super expensive we're raising money to cover travel, recording costs, and editing costs. Please check out our Kickstarter so we can make this cover album happen and push the bounds of what a cappella arranging and performance can be: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1081771000/arcapella-i (Honestly would also appreciate words of encouragement or shares, I know we're all broke out here)
project is made using only my own vocal samples
title, basically...
i recently joined an (all-female) acapella group, but i have no experience in acapella, choir, or really singing at all. however, i did come from a classical/orchestral background and used to arrange for a chamber group of string instruments. i was asked to arrange locked out of heaven by bruno mars... which i felt was a pretty hard song to assign to a freshman with no acapella experience 😭 i finished the first draft, but it just reads like every other string arrangement i've ever written, and i'm worried that the people in my group won't like or will think it's weird or repetitive or just not good.
are there any important differences between arranging string music and acapella that i should know? how do i pick syllables to sing? how do i add adlibs (this is the one i've been struggling with the most) and more interesting parts other than the typical rhythms you'd find in an instrumental arrangement? how do you keep the energy going in such a fast and upbeat song? is it important to keep the repeating bassline and can i/should i abandon it for more interesting things? are parallel fifths acceptable??? any and all advice would be helpful :')
