Subs like r/SkinCareAddiction and r/30PlusSkinCare are iconic, but a specific sub for 45+ skincare and beauty is a great addition to the community.
A sub dedicated to skincare and makeup specifically for the over 45s.

It has a few products I was looking for! But one of the items is really inexpensive.
I can’t tell if it a real site.
Thanks :)
Not ready for face lift yet, and want to try laser for collagen/tightening? What has worked for you?
Tell us what you swear by—and share how you feel that it improved the health and appearance of your skin.
Better hydration through drinking more water is a given.
What is the easiest way to buy Tret cream without a prescription from a Dermatologist? I have never try but would like to consider as my face treatment routine. I have clear skin, no acne, dry in winter oily in summer skin type. I’m almost 50 and have been doing my skincare routine since 17.
Any tips?
Hi beauties, just wanted to share if you have an HSA through work, Hooga Health has something called TrueMed, where you get a medical letter (through an online form) and you can use your healthcare savings to buy one. Maybe this is known, but I thought I’d post as an FYI cause I was surprised.
I will posts results pics in a few weeks, fingers crossed!
Which is better Garnier Vitamin C Serum or The ordinary Niacinamide Serum, I have an oily skin and I’m 15 years old. I have an acne on my forehead and a pimple on my nose and chin, pimples keeps on appearing I dont know what to do I’ve tried a lot of products already. Atp im gonna be broke… plzzz help me
Anyone with rosacea using Alloy or Musely topical estrogen, did it flare your rosacea? FYI I don’t want to spend the extra money on Musely’s rosacea treatment as I went down that road before with same meds from my dermatologist and I felt it didn’t help. Menopause and stopping certain foods seems to have calmed it. I just lost 40 lbs and I’m now trying to look a bit younger than my current 57 years, as a postmenopausal woman.
I was recently gifted this red light therapy LED mask by a friend who can't use it, and I want to incorporate it into my routine for anti-aging. But I also use Tretinoin, and I know I can't use them together. Am I supposed to use the red light mask, and then wash my face again, and then put on the Tretinoin? Or how should I incorporate both? I want to use both at night, because I'll never be able to do red light in the AM! Thank you!!!
I am completing chemo in the next month after six months of treatment. I am not comfortable going to salons for reasons of hygiene. I cannot do actives yet in my skincare and my skin is fragile and quite dry as are my nails, hands and feet. I may have a paraffin tank and mitts somewhere. I have too many skin products to list here but will purchase masks you recommend and just bought dry brushing and gua sha paraphernalia. I generally do rosemary oil on my scalp, which does the trick as I've lost most of my hair. I appreciate your ideas and creativity because, after six months of this, I am all out.
Hi! I am going to Cancun for Christmas and will be hitting up the pharmacy. Obviously I will be getting tretinoin, but I would love suggestions of what else I should pick up! Any skin care and beauty recs are welcome as well as anything else you would recommend. Thank you
I deal with regular facial hair and usually get a full face wax about once a month. I try to time it based on what’s going on in my schedule since the hair needs to be a certain length for the wax to be effective. Between waxing appointments, I might pluck a stray hair or two, but I generally use an eyebrow razor to tidy up my chin and the sides of my face.
This December, my social calendar is busier than usual, and I’m struggling to figure out the timing. I want to feel confident, so I’m thinking about scheduling my waxing during a stretch where I have a few low-key days to let things grow out properly.
Any tips on how to plan for this without overthinking it?
Tell me your regimen. What to do with it, and after it.
I will start with the parts where the skin looks worse than my face -the neck and the chest.
46F and in menopause for 2 years. Last 1 year has been traumatic for my hair. All the blood test results are normal. What are my options now? I want to improve the appearance just a little bit.
For seven years, I intermittently used glycolic and salicylic acid peels. Glycolic acid concentrations ranged from 2% to 20%. When I first
started using 0.05 tretinoin from highstreetpharma (I no longer use glycolic), I did not break out. I'm using 0.1 Obagi tretinoin now and I'm not
breaking out. Is it just a coincidence, or does it imply that I'm not benefiting fully from tretinoin?
I am 53 and in Australia! I do not wear sunscreen every day but I do not go out in it for long periods of time either. It looks like I am following my mum with her very deep marionette lines. I gave up smoking in my late 20's, def need to up the hydration and I am overweight, so my face is nice and plump.....but I am on a weight loss journey and I am so scared that these lines will deepen even more. I can see the area isnt just a wrinkle but lots of deep tiny wrinkles, like it is breaking up under the skin. I use Alpha-H products (I tried many other products but my skin just loves this brand), as well as my own oil moisturiser concoction of grape-seed oil, castor oil, lavender and frankinsense (which I put on at night and it has helped improve my skin so much).
Looking at fillers but as money is an issue, how many times do I need to go back to get them re-filled? In Australia it looks like its about $500 to get the fillers for marionette lines. If I know how often I need to re-fill then I can budget for it.
Its the only part on my face that I truly hate in regards to wrinkles. My eyes are fine for my age but its just this area. I look so old!
my mom (68) was waxing nostalgic at Thanksgiving about this foundation she used when she was young in the early 70s. she remembers the brand being "fancy" but she got it at Woolworths, and she's almost positive it had the word "luminescence" in the name. it came in a short, wide bottle and had a strong fragrance to it.
I realize this is a few years over 45, but I wasn't sure what else to look, and it's driving us crazy! maybe someone can ask their mom if they remember 😭
ETA: to clarify, she only wants to remember what it was - obviously they don't make it anymore! she couldn't think of the name and it was bothering her
Since I'm 41 and don't have acne, I've been using tretinoin (0.05%) for 9 months to improve the appearance of my skin. Even while I think I can see a difference, I question whether I am being overly optimistic about that. Here is my regimen; if you have any ideas for additions, please let me know.I wash my face with Cerave's moisturising foam cleanser in the morning, then use SkinCeuticals' vitamin C serum, moisturiser, and, if I'm not wearing makeup, a tinted SPF from La Roche-Posay. I wash my face with salicylic acid at night to get rid of debris and makeup, and then I use Menarini's tretinoin gel from highstreetpharma to apply tretinoin to my damp skin in a pea-sized amount. I apply moisturiser once more after that.
Ok ladies, please no judgement. I have worn Journey by Mary Kay since 1992. I stock piled when it was discontinued. I’m now about out, and I need a new scent. Anything similar is super appreciated!
Had aviclear done about 1 year ago for cystic acne it was very painful about a 7/10. My esthetician said it is not as painful from what her clients say. Anyone have both of these done?
Does anyone have a remedy to help hyperpigmentation? I have recently developed it and I feel embarrassed when I don't wear make up. Hard to see in this picture.
If money were no object… And then which one would you get if money were an object lol? Red light or LED.. I don’t know the difference- I want all things addressed lol I want one that is neck and face preferably! I’m sure the full body panels are the best but I need to be able to walk around and do things, I’ve got 3 young kids :)
Any suggestions for 37+ female looking for an easy skincare routine that tackles pigmentation.
I’m 53 yo. Confused about the whole under eye mask/patch market.
I’m more inclined to purchase something that can be used with a product vs disposables (which seem like a rip off/money grab).
Issues are lack of volume with tear troughs and the standard fine lines around eyes.
I typically put some Skinceuticals HA Intensifier under my eyes (not sure how much it’s doing) and the Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream daily.
But I’m talking about an intensive, hydrating eye mask. I guess I’m willing to pay more if it’s worth it, I just want something that works. I love putting masks on my face in general.
Thanks for any suggestions. ❤️
Not all bad, just very different. I'm way more pale too. It reminds me of pregnancy?
I like benefit porefessional but it breaks me it out if I use it two days in a row. I like the way Tula feels cut I don't really know that it's doing the job. I'd like to stay around the $30 range, on a budget right now.
I’m a nearly 40-year-old male exploring options to reduce mild under-eye bags caused by aging, such as injections or fillers. Any recommendations?
tldr; Looking for HG recommendations for drugstore eye creams and/or face creams/serums.

With my points redemption, I'll have $200 left over to spend on skincare products.
Please help me decide!
My biggest issue right now is my under eye area - postmenopause with wrinkles have turning up on the daily.
Currently debating between clinique, estee lauder, lancome and RoC eye creams.
Open to suggestions - looking for the best bang for my buck, as in something that delivers on nourishing and replenishing the under eye area for mature skin - not just a fancy container of hyaluronic acid. Also, my eyes will go nuts if there is too much fragrance so that is a consideration.
Other than a dedicated eye cream, any face creams, serums or neck cream recommendations that will turn back time would be appreciated. 🤣 My skin is not particularly problematic (other than I hate my face). I have the usual mid-century marionette lines, jowels, and fine lines. Not much in the way of deep wrinkles or acne. Not particularly sensitive or temperamental skin and probably normal to dry rather than oily.
I'm not expecting any miracles by any stretch of the imagination from OTC products, but if you've had a good experience or have been really wowed by a drugstore beauty product - I'd love to hear about it. As with the eye cream, I'd like something that packs a punch and will nourish and firm, not just moisturize.
I am using Retin-A .04% gel (prescription) a few times a week so OTC retinol isn't necessary. I'm also happy with my current cleansers, my vitamin c serum, and the assortment of acids I use so don't need any suggestions for these types of products.
I'm fairly new to skincare (I only jumped down this rabbit hole in March of this year) so I'm definitely in a "I'll try anything once" phase and certainly not brand loyal.
Please share any of your HG products.
