Anyone know that one shot where Cuff and Taylor got together, Taylor at one point called Lisa for help
I feel like nearly every fanfic mentions that damn step but no one actually does anything beyond mentioning it or occasionally fixing it. Anyone know of any short fics where someone actually gets hurt by the step?
I just read going for a walk, a hellsing abridged fic. Similar stories please
I saw a comment recently which commented on how 'angsty' most wormfic was, and I have subsequently been infected with a brainworm that's been obsessed with explaining why it's that way to those who wonder why that is. After letting my thoughts stew for a couple of hours, I finally have enough of them to put into an essay.
In order to understand why most Wormfic is angsty, we need to first examine the nature of traditional stories, and how fanfic differs from it. A traditional story is built on three things: a setting idea, a character idea, and a plot idea. In original fiction, an author has supreme control over all three, and can shape all three to convey whatever they want. Worm Fanfic by its very nature borrows most of the three from Worm, meaning much of what is derived from these (tone, character arcs, reader-author promises) is something Worm fanfic has inherited as well. Setting, characters, plot.
Worm is not a cheerful setting. It's still a point of contention among fans as to whether it's grimdark or not, so much so that it's still a raging debate among the community. Those who have read a lot of grimdark fiction tend to place Worm on the lower end of the scale if they place it anywhere at all, and those who haven't explored all that grimdark has to offer assume Worm is grimdark because of how dreary the setting is. But whether Worm is grimdark or not, Worm's setting is still dreary.
Worm's characters are not happy. Taylor is an extremely bullied teenager who goes out in costume to claim some agency over her life. Dennis has a dying father who his powers don't even help. Lisa triggered from her brother dying and struggles to get over it completely. All of Worm's characters are troubled in some way or the other, and many like Taylor lean more into their faults as their arc progresses.
The plot is something the fanfic writer has much more control over, but if the changes the author makes are minimal (the only change an alt-power makes is giving Taylor a different power, for example), there is the understanding that canon events will happen in some shape or form unless the author decides to make the setting an AU. Why, many authors consider tackling things like Bakuda or the Nine as goalposts because it's what's expected. In a traditional story, the author is free to make and fulfil promises they made. In fanfic, the author is tied to promises that readers expect from fanfics ('What will the author do about X?', 'When will the MC meet Y character?', that sort of thing.)
So why is most wormfic 'angsty'? It's because Worm is 'angsty'. It's about a teenager who's willingly blind to a fault who gives herself over to her worst traits to surmount increasingly impossible odds, in a plot which picks up in momentum as it goes on, in a setting that's as gray as a fog bank. Most wormfics use characters from Worm, are set in the same world as it, and thus must explore the themes and characters of Worm. The wormfics that are not this either willingly ignore canon to make their own stories, or are crack or fluff that sidestep canon to properly deliver the tone they promise. However, any story that bases itself on Worm canon will have to deal with things Worm did, and for better or worse, there are a lot of heavy things in there that might lead to 'angst'.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
as it is in the title, I'm looking for fix-it (can be canon divergence or au) fics that have a sort-of believable approach to how they are changing things in the story so that the problems are now un-problemed (especially for problems and plot points like the bullying, gangs, coil, echidna, ascalon, endbringers, s9, and etc.)
I like fics that show how they fixed the porblem (with plans and all that) rather than just tell that they were able to do it in passing and move on like it was no big deal
I don't like fics that show barely any effort in defeating scion (like... ain't no way it's just as simple as chucking flechette's power on his face or something, there's gotta be something else that's done to weaken him first or make the power have enough power)
I rather liked how Still Defiant dealt with dragonslayers and dragon
the showing thing doesn't even have to be so detailed, I just want to feel that the success of overcoming the problem is earned (if you know what i mean)
also, if you find fics that show cool/unique/creative ways of defeating scion or endbringers or s-class threats, that would be great too...
Are there any fics in which Taylor is just creepy? Not scary for any reason that can be processed, or uncomfortably weird in a conscious way, but instead triggers that voice in the back of the brain that makes her just feel wrong...
Bioaugmentation is always so cool but I hardly ever see it. The closest I think is Taylor Varga where she experiments on herself.
I've recently binged some of DarkWolfShiros more tolerable fics, so now I crave characters who get a new, permanent random magic every few chapters. Doesn't have to be the Celestial Grimoire, but I'd still like it to have the main aspect of "getting a spell ranging from summon cookies to killing god."
I have already read
Until Proven Innocent - Focalors Marry Sued into Taylor
The Second Archon War - Archons start appearing on Earth Bet one by one
And I wonder if there is anything else similar, preferably:
Need a bit of fresh air (metaphorically) and am looking for fics where Taylor isn't dumped with depressing situations all the time.
Preferably altpower
And a bit of conflict is still good, else it would get boring.
So a couple days ago, I made a post asking for fics where someone other than Taylor is a Vampire. Today, I'm specifically asking for fics where one or more of the Trio (ie. Emma, Sophia, and Madison) get Vampirized.
Most famously, this happens to Emma in the opening scenes of Don't Say Vampire, at the fangs of a likewise Vampirized Taylor.
There was also a very crack Worm/JoJo fic where someone forced a Stone Mask onto Sophia's face, turning her into a Vampire that way; IIRC it may have been deleted during a subsequent revision.
Are there any other Worm fanfics where Emma Barnes, Sophia Hess, and/or Madison Clements get turned into Vampires?
I'm planning on writing a Worm fiction fairly soon and was wondering what would be the best platform to post it to? I'm not especially knowledgeable about the sites, only really know about AO3.
Did anyone ever make a scene, where the OC was almost arrested/forcibly taken/almost defeated (you get the jist), and they used the one-time get out of jail card:
'You have a Shard of an alien parasite in your brain.'
Or something like that? From what I gathered, the first time a parahuman hears this, they should be disabled for a little while, cause the Shards themselves try to contain the information.
I remember it was on QQ but sfw. I remember that she could copy a persons power as long as she was nearby and that she joined I believe uber and leet to stay low level. I remember Alexandria coming to bb to help with the situation because Taylor was so useful.
Any help appreciated.
Mover, Shaker Brute and Breaker, Master, Tinker, Blaster, Thinker, Striker, Changer, Trump and Stranger.
What, in your opinion, is the best fic in each of the above categories. The main character can have multiple abilities, but their main/most obvious power has to be what you think is the best in that category.
By best, I don't necessarily mean the fic with the strongest person in that category. By best, I mean the best fic you've read in that category regardless of the strength of the character.
I love those murderhobos so god damn much. What are some of the best most, interesting depictions of the nine in you’ve read. I prefer no OP curb stomps but as long as the 9 actually feel like the 9 I’ll take it.
The Mc triggered with an ability that allowed them to insert game disks into themselves and gaining the powers and abilities of the game characters. I remember that early on after the Mc moved to Brockton Bay they joined the wards and he was performing drills as Batman or something.
I read it for a while but dropped it because it kinda felt like it might be one of those fics that make it seem like it's the oc's job to 'Make Taylor happy again', but I've been thinking about it recently. Also for those who've read it what's your opinion on it.
I was reading Shadow Game, by the author of Artificial Heart and Racoon Knight, where Sophia is summoned into the fantasy world that way or may not be inspired by an isekai manga/anime Shield Hero. I'm curious to see if there are any fics where the MC is isekaied into an isekai anime like Konosuba or ReZero or Overlord
I am looking for a fic I read recently where in it Sophia is sent to L.A. to work with Alexandria and in it Alexandria breaks down her prey and predator philosophy.
She notes that predators are animals and bad animals sometimes need to be hit to be trained, so she breaks Sophia's shoulder or arm or something.
I could be wrong about the L.A. part but I don't know. I also can't recall the rest of the plot, only that one scene.
Any help in finding this story would be good.
Been reading a lot of toxic yuri, so to cleanse my palate I'm now looking for wholesome yuri where Taylor can just have a nice, healthy relationship with her girlfriend(s)
I've read multiple fics where taylor gets annoyed and frustrated when villains she defeats get freed on route to the birdcage....but I've never seen her so ANYTHING about it. She just complains. I've never seen her even ask to escort the transport trucks, and it's weird that the thought never seems to cross her mind. I'm guessing it's for plot, but i figure she can at least ask and get turned down on grounds of confidentiality or something
Okay so this is a petpeeve I've seen so many times and just feel the need to express to a captive audience, so like. Biotinkers and biokinetics are Not The Same Thing. I swear like 90% of fics just go ahead and call anyone who touches biology a biotinker. Biotinkers are tinkers, y'know Blasto, Bonesaw, Lab Rat, etc. Biokinetics have powers that just inherently mess with biology: Amy, Nilbog, etc. If you want an umbrella term IIRC canon uses biomanipulator.
I know it's like, just a couple words, and one cannot draw an extrapolation of the quality of the work from something minor like that, but it feels like it can (or at least should?) be indicative of a lack of understanding how tinker powers typically work. (Which I think I take an issue with because that's another, larger petpeeve of mine. The amount of crossover "tinkers" that just don't operate like tinkers is... Well honestly completely reasonable people are fine to write what they want but it bothers me)
Okay this kind of turned into just a rant about tinker portrayals but in short: it'd be nice for people to use the accurate term. Why is this how I'm spending my time?
I don’t know the names but the first one has this interaction:
"Dude, seriously? I can see emotions. It's my power. You can't lie to me." Rory met the boy's eyes squarely. "I fucked your mom last night." "No you.." Dean flushed. "No you…fuck you! You didn't..." Triumph smirked and walked past him. "Hold up, how'd you do that?" "Well, first I took off her blouse, and then..."
The second has this one:
And she was fucking hot. "Huh. Wanna go grab a beer?" "The voices in my head want me to kill you." "Is that before or after we hook up?" "They can't decide."
If anyone can tell what these quotes are from I’d appreciate very much.
I want some stories where tattletale uses her power on a MC and has an interesting reaction to what it tells her.
Chapter 13 of Will of the Force. She uses her power on Darth Vader.

I was browsing the internet, and I saw that in another franchise, there was a hero who could make an exoskeleton using blood sugar or something. It was Ant from image comics.
Is there any Worm fic where Taylor can make biological armor with her power? I've read some related with Starcraft, but I don't think it's a similar concept.
Hi I'm looking for a crossover fic with "Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?" All I remember is that taylor takes the place of Bell in the story and she's Hestia's familia
