Project: Playing Wii in My Car – Custom Wii Car Power Adapter
Hey everyone,
I've embarked on an exciting project to play Wii in my car and I’m thrilled to share it with the community. With the Sensor Bar embedded into the cover of the radio head unit, I created a custom Wii car power adapter that provides a stable 12V 3.6A power supply. Unlike other adapters with lower power ratings (3A and 3.15A) that struggle with USB HDDs and SSDs, my adapter ensures reliable performance.
Why I'm Doing It This Way
This custom Wii car power adapter is the result of extensive research and trial and error. USB Power Delivery standards can be challenging, with 11V 4.05A being optimal, but existing USB-C to Wii power options use the 12V 3A setup. Other dedicated options, which are often no longer produced, have lower power ratings (3A or 3.15A) and struggle to power USB HDDs and SSDs. I discovered that a stable 12V 3.6A power supply was essential for reliable performance, uninterrupted gaming, and protecting my equipment. Inferior products just weren’t cutting it, so I designed a superior alternative to meet the specific power needs of the Wii.

I’ve documented the end result on YouTube. You can watch it here to see how I set it up in my car.
Feedback would be great. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Hi, i'm trying to figure a way to use the Wii Remote without The AA batteries.
I tried putting a USB cable with the bare wires on the positive and negative terminals of the controller and tried plugging the cable into a portable charger. It kinda works, but the controller won't stop vibrating, and i checked the voltage of the Portable Charger, and it wasn't even 5v, it was like, 3,3v or something.
If someone has any ideias of why this is happening or any other ideia of how to make the controller work without the AA batteries, i would appreciate.
(Observation: Please don't recommend rechargeable AA batteries. Besides taking a long time to charge, i really dislike AA Batteries and here in Brazil, the cheap ones, have a terrible battery life. I'm not going to spend 100 BRL (which is more or less 17.36 USD, using the direct conversion) which is a good amount of money here in Brazil on Rechargeable AA batteries. It's like you spent 100 USD or 50 USD on batteries. It's ridiculous).
(Observation 2: I asked almost the same thing in a Quick-fix Brazilian Subreddit, the difference was because I was looking for a similar idea for the xbox series controller, people on that sub weren't nice to me, so i'm kinda expecting some hospitality from you guys :3 )
(Observation 3: My Wii Remote is a third-party controller without the Motion Plus feature, because my old og one had the Nunchuk port so oxidized, that was kinda green, and the Nunchuk wouldn't work at all)
I've modded my old dusty Wii a few days ago and I'm wondering if any of yall have a fav Wii game
I want to play the Japanese version of MH Tri but my Wii is region USA, which means that every time I try to put a name to my character the game freezes. I think it's because it's trying to pop out a Japanese keyboard that doesn't exist for my region.
So, what do I need to change the region of my Wii to JAP? How safe it is? Is there a way to use the keyboard in my USA Wii without having to go through that hazzle?
I know it's what the Wii natively renders at, but it obviously isn't what was intended at all because it doesn't match the 4:3 video width output by the Wii. I know I don't have to use this setting, but it always irks me when someone uploads footage using this setting online.
out of the 3ds, Wii, and Wii U what is the order of easiest to mod to hardest?
I have a wii that does not put out a video signal. Is it posible to make it into a portable gamecube?
Hey Guys, I’ve recently been trying to connect my old wii to my tv, but we all know Tvs are pretty much just HDMI connection now. I bought this adapter to connect but quality is awful. Just wondering if y’all knew a better way to connect wii to HMDI or if there is a specific adapter that is better quality.
I wanna make a wii portable with a roughly laptop form factor, and I would also like to keep the DVD drive. Which means this is gonna be THICC. I know with a software hack, The wii supports native VGA, (but not all pins make it to the av port) and Im planning on running it on batteries, and to run this LCD on batteries, the easiest solution is a replacement driver-board. And if I doing that, I can order one that actually has native composite in. Depending on how I do it, If I keep the WII pretty much stock, I might be able to just slot the wii into the thing like one big cartridge lol. I dont plan on building controls into it, But maybe a slot I could store a wiimote. Thoughts?
I am using a keyboard do I need to use a mouse cuz there's no options for cam controls idk what's going on plz help
So my Wii is black when i turn it on, but if i turn it off and then again on it will start normaly. is there a way how i can fix it?
Hello, I need if someone knows how to fix this, my usb loader gx out of nowhere reset the configuration but I was able to fix almost everything, the problem is that I don't know what happens but I can't see the completed caturlas and description of games and I get with the names that are already integrated, such as Super Mario Strickers in the ISO being called "Mario Soccer" I tried to update the WiiTBD.xml but I get an error, I have 2 USBs but only 1 which is where I load Gamecube games I get that Does anyone know how to fix this error? Thank you
sorry if i just understand firmware's right but did they write all of it themselves or use some already existing core like unix?
Hey - I’m looking to setup an old Wii as a multi emu machine.
Has anyone got a favourite, wireless gamepad that is easy to setup for most emus? (PS1, GameCube, Dreamcast, N64, etc…?)
Go easy on me fellas. I’m new to this.
If I were to put an SD port into a wii mini, could I then use letterbomb to mod it?
Sorry if this isn’t the right place but wiiu hacks removed my post. Usbloader is super buggy on my wiiu. Other than the very apparent bugginess, things like non rounded corners, no buttons on game select etc etc.
Launched straight from homebrew channel so not a wad issue. version 3.0 r1281 downloaded from GitHub and not the openshop version with sd issues.
Is usbloader just weird on the WiiU? Should I just use wiiflow?
I don’t have any games yet, but will get some soon!
Hi, these days I wanted to put some particular mods on my wii that are not seen often. Advice?
